I stayed in the superior Queen room on the top floor and it was overall a decent experience. Big pro: great location, almost immediately across from the subway, with many restos and cafés nearby. Watch out for the slanted ceilings; I’m short, and even I hit my head on the ceiling once. No tub, shower only. I didn’t appreciate the massive price hike during a Taylor Swift weekend – I was in TO for a family event and unfortunately suffered the consequences of bad timing. Checking in online was simple and the digital key worked perfectly.

Pros:

1. Close to public transit

2. Walking distance to many bars/restaurants

Cons:

1. Terribly uncomfortable room. Smaller than a children's bedroom.

2. Matress was very old and uncomfortable. Scratchey sheets as well.

3. AC unit made a loud banging noise at night. It also leaked water.

4. Our room code did not work on arrival. Took about 20 minutes to get in the room.

5. In general it's very run down. They seem to be going for quaint and cute in downtown-ish area. Instead, I would call it rundown and tired.

The price was way too high for what we actually got. We've used Sonder in other cities (Boston, MA), but won't be using again after this experience.

Take a few extra minutes to find an actual hotel. It may be slightly more expensive, but will be well worth avoiding the same mistake we made here.

If I could give Sonder zero or negative stars I would. I booked due to the proximity to Church and Wellesley village. Due to a hot water heater issue they moved me to thier “sister” property 1.2 miles across town in a neighborhood that is inconvenient and I have no interest in visiting. When I received the email saying it was a sister property. I assumed it was at least in the same neighborhood. Then they don’t warn you but they place a $250 hold on the card you put on file for 5-7 days. My card happened to be my debit card. I explained that I just suffered through Hurricane Milton and didn’t have $250 to spare. The person I was chatting with didn’t seem to care and became very flippant, even cancelling my reservation. I was in between flights on my way to Toronto so I had them reinstate. Then you arrive to the hotel in the neighborhood you don’t want to be in, you walk up 4 flights of stairs to a room which is the size of a walk in closet. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. I’ll still with Airbnbs in the future

Sonder was a great place to stay for a long weekend. It was more affordable than majority of hotels in Toronto and the check in/out process was nice and simple (all on the app). I'd say the room was more suitable for one person rather than 2 as there wasn't a lot of space but we managed.
Location was good. 15min subway to downtown and plenty of good bars and restaurants just a few min walk away.

Don’t be fooled. Awful place to stay, only saving grace is the pub next door. Rooms are dinky and you can hear people two doors down breathing. Everything is a nightmare from booking to checking in to staying here. I really hope you read my review and not make the same mistake as me. Staff on the phone was helpful as long as there was no problem to solve. Oh, in case it’s not clear from the website: there is no staff at the “hotel”. In fact calling this a hotel is a stretch, it’s not a hotel, it’s a few windowless rooms in a basement.
