I recently visited to view the Dr. Seuss show. It was a wonderful experience, enjoying prints of such classic works. The owners were friendly and informative.

The Liss Gallery is a small gem of a place in Yorkville. I bought a beautiful print of Dr Seuss' Cat in the Hat there.  It inspires me whenever I look at it.  The staff were knowledgeable and helpful.  Great place I would recommend it.  I am looking forward to going back to see the exhibit of Dr Seuss' 60th anniversary Cat in the Hat and How the Grinch Stole Christmas prints.

I remember this gallery owner. She had a gift shop in Montreal selling Eskimo art to American tourists. She called it a gallery but it was at best a gift shop. Not unusual she surfaced in Toronto selling amateur art. Not an addition to the Toronto scene. Pretentious about her knowledge. Drivel really.

I quite enjoy Liss Gallery and the shows they put on. I have been to their Bob Gruen show and their Dr. Suess show in Vancouver and have quite enjoyed the artwork that is curated by Brian Liss and his team. From the Bob Gruen show I ended up picking up a lovely signed coffee table book and photo with Bob Gruen (the stories that were told at that show were amazing-imagine the life of a rock photographer whom got to party with the stars that were the subject of his art) and a lovely framed Dr. Suess piece. I finally got to visit their gallery in Toronto with a friend and was very impressed with their gallery. The art was neatly displayed and lit up to demonstrate how good they would look in your home. Brian had a story about every piece and the artist. This is a lovely little gallery and would completely recommend that you visit. Also check out the coffee books that they sell because they have some neat stuff and pretty soon you'll end up telling your guest about the pics and contents inside this books if you are displaying those coffee books in your home (and of course your art pieces.)

So we're in the heart of YORKVILLE invited to a showing of Bob Gruen the famous rock n roll photographer from the Beatles to the stones. The venue is quite nice except for this 2 piece band singer and guitar. No doubt good musicians but kinda like recital music you'd hear at your grandmas 65 anniversary. We made. Comment saying good band but bad choice of music they're playing 1930-40's style music. 2 minutes later we get a tap of on the shoulder asking us to leave. 15 minutes before their were a 2 couples who were true artists photographers and media people. They were tapped by the same security to leave as well. If someone was making trouble or being disorderly I'd concur with this. This is not how you treat people anywhere. Seems the owner of this gallery is truly a pariah to be polite. Here's a person selling 2-3-4K photographs aka art and can't take some sincere HONEST feedback. These people I appear to be so uptight they probably need to make an appointment to see themselves. We left saying it's unfortunate you can't take a little honest criticism and feedback. Stay clear of this closet size studio you might smell mothballs on the owner.
