This hotel is absolutely fantastic! I used to live in this neighbourhood for a long time and I was very familiar with this place before and I used to come here when it was a different establishment so it’s just really cool to come back now that it’s a hotel and stay here. The rooms are so comfortable. The showers are so spacious and clean. It’s such a cool view of the CN T  at night with the light show from your bed just laying there relaxing looking at the view. It is so amazing. I recommend this to anyone who’s coming to the city or anyone who even lives here already it’s a little getaway in your own city. It’s just like amazing. I feel like a tourist in my own city right now. Highly recommended the staff is fantastic.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. It was perfect for a 3 day trip. I like the system to check in and check out. The hotel is in a really good area, especially if you like Asian cuisine. Really close to the metro and other public transport. There is no elevator, but it's a really small hotel with only two flights of stairs so it was manageable with our luggage. The only downside was that the vinyls were a bit scratched, so they didn't play well, and the fact that there was no television was a bummer, but it was not crucial to enjoy our stay. We also sadly had to experience a small fire in adjacent restaurants that cut out the electricity and wifi, but since we were out all day, it didn't affect us. The workers keep us updated throughout the day, so S/O to them for working hard to solve the problem.

Hotel room is well designed and has cool decorations. Bed is comfortable and staff is very friendly. Toronto Museum and University  of Toronto are around 15min walk distance. Tons of restaurants nearby. Public parking is half a block away.
The only issue is the hotel does not have elevator, so it is not very friendly for travelers with heavy suitcases like us.

Great location. Really friendly staff. Easy checkin. We ordered room service (just a cappuccino and a chai latte), service was timely. The record players in the rooms are a nice touch and made getting ready for our night out extra fun. We’ll be staying again for sure!

Perfectly located, amazing staff and the rooms are so nice!  Will definitely be staying at The Annex again and will recommend to my friends! Thanks for everything Ryan!  Plus the restaurant next door Raffaella’s has a great atmosphere and food!  Book ahead, they are busy!

Came here for a yoga event and ended with some amazing pizza made by Sam! We had all the classics : Margherita, Spicy pepperoni, Butter jam jam , Kung funghi and a vegan pizza!! My favourite was definitely the King Funghi: the dough was light and airy , easy to eat and you really did not feel bloated or too full afterwards (my kind of za!) The ingredients were meant to all be together...portobello..enoki...mozerella..truffle oil.. a melody for my taste buds! Would come back here to check out this neighborhood and continue to fill my belly with yummy Toronto pizzas !

No one eats more than I do. Seriously. I am a fat, fat man, in a little man's body. All I do is eat, then walk to the next restaurant to burn off a couple calories to eat again. I've eaten all over this great city but only started writing reviews now because the Ball & Chain's sister got invited to Yelp Elite and she can't even boil water and only eats where I tell her, so here we go: Been excited for this place to open up for a while...initially I was quite angry that the building owners gave Tilt (moved to Dundas) the boot to build a hotel which I'd never stay in (unless the Ball & Chain kicked me out of bed of course) until I found that the hotel lobby would house a restaurant with 2 of Toronto's top 3 taco and pizza joints: Seven Lives Tacos and Big Trouble Pizza! Sorry Tilt, this little man loves food more than arcades...don't let the door hit you on your way out! We can still be friends with benefits though! Between the 2 of us, we had the Grape Gatsby and Spicy Pep pizzas, both of which were excellent. I know they're famous for the Butter Jam but I'll save that for next time. We also had the 3 non veg tacos...Gobernador, Al Pastor and Blackened Sword fish. The first 2 were excellent and the latter was not very good tbh. Would love a chorizo one and some salsas as well....hint hint. Very rare and lucky to have 2 of Toronto's finest share one roof and this just opened up close to the superb Annex Food Hall as well. The biggest complaint is that, despite having a great interior and awesome food...it was empty. We ate from 5:30-6:30 on a Tuesday mind you, but didn't see another soul. Only been open a ~week but this place is accessible via an alley way and not easy to find with no signage on any street. They better up their social media presence or add a Neon sign on Brunswick because the only reason I found it is I'm a huge food geek. Not everyone is a loser like me. Here's to hoping it survives, thrives and multiples!

This is more a Seven Lives Tacos review because I only ordered food from them on Ritual. So please take that into account when reading the review. I walked inside while picking up my order and the atmosphere of the sit-down part of the restaurant seemed pretty nice and chill and honestly looked like a great date spot. I ordered the Al Pastor Fries ($10) and the Gobernador Taco ($6). The fries were pretty subpar to be honest. The fries were some variation of the fries that Costco uses (Cavendish I think to be specific), which although are crunchy and crispy, they are far from being the best fries (think Five Guys and Smokes (yes I said that)). The fries were topped with some pork, two scoops of gucamole, chipotle, salsa, cheese and some other stuff. Guacamole was alright but didn't have that smooth and subtle avocado flavour that you are normally hit with, nor that zing that you get from the combination of the cilantro and onions. The pork was decent and somewhat reminiscent of pulled pork, but there wasn't much of it in the fries. I would probably give this dish a 2/5 as it was severely lacking in flavour, quality (both overall and the single ingredients) and quantity. The Gobernador Taco on the other hand was very good. It had smoked marlin, grilled shrimp, cheese, onions and cilantro. The Marlin (my first time having it) was great and tasted kinda like carnitas or grilled chicken. In combination with the shrimp it provided a very unique, savoury and seafoody flavour that had tons of depth. Although the shrimp on the tacos were small white shrimp, they were still crunchy upon bite and had a smokey flavour that was distinct from the rest of the taco as they were grilled. There was tons of cheese at the bed of the taco as well. My only qualm with the taco was that it was really small. Probably the size of an average male's palm. So although it was great, was it $6 good? probably not.

Came here on Friday with my boyfriend. I recognized the space as the old location for Tilt. Wow did this location ever get a face lift! The ceilings are higher, the space feels more spacious and brighter and is home to a bar (Annex Commons) and two restaurants: Seven Lives (a taco place) and Big Trouble Pizza. The space itself is classy and upscale and a great date spot, although they also have shorter, kids-sized tables if you want to bring the little ones for pizza. I had a cocktail called the spritz which contains aperol, Prosecco and soda. It was a little strong for my liking but the bartender was awesome and suggested adding more club soda to it. I tried it and it worked! Their drinks also feature these cool metal straws, which are sterilized in between uses, that have circular disks on one end to help stir your drink properly. Although the two restaurants and the bar are technically three different businesses sharing a space, you can order everything all together at the bar which is very convenient. My boyfriend and I both ordered the Al Pastor Taco from Seven Lives. It features spit-fired pork, pineapple, salsa agucate, onion, cilantro. I'm not a fan of raw onions or cilantro so I ordered mine without those. It was delicious and full of flavour but not filling. It had a nice kick and was cooked amazingly. My boyfriend also had the Governador taco from Seven Lives. The Governador features smoked marlin, grilled shrimp, crema, jack cheese, onion, cilantro. I tried a bit of his and it was also delicious! The shrimp was well cooked and full of flavour. Overall this place is great! We will definitely be back to try some more tacos and the pizza!

Love the Commons! Definitely needed this in Annex. If you're looking for classic amazing tacos , chill vibes, good music, be sure to stop by. Seven lives always hits the spot and Big Trouble pizza will make you want to eat a box to yourself everyday! Quality food and great service

Had a great night in the Commons. Sat at the pizza bar and it was a pure delight to look at these guys work. That being said I had a craving for tacos! So I tried the swordfish and al pastor tacos.

The Annex Commons is very casual and trendy atmosphere and great place to go and hang out with friends. Very simple one page menu with Big Trouble pizzas and Seven Lives Tacos. There are 7 pizzas choices, 4 tacos and Tostadas options. The pizzas are personal 12 inch and very thin crust so they are good for one person. I ordered the Kung Funghi; portabella, enoki mushrooms, mozzarella, sweet onion, chives, truffle oil. The toppings were good quality and evenly spread over the whole pizza. The crust was super thin so you could easily finish one pizza by yourself. The toppings on the other pizzas were very creative and would like to go back again and try the Grape Gatsby pizza with pickled grapes. As for the tacos my friend ordered two and they looked good but very small so you would have to order 3 for a meal. Each taco is $6 so you should order 3 if you want to be full or order 1 and get a pizza to share. The service was really good and always made sure our water jug on the table was full. I went on a Friday night and it was not very busy. I more people discover this place and give it a try. The only suggestion I have is to offer a couple of salads on the menu like simple arugula salad or caprese salad. There are no starters or appetizers. Looking forward to going back and trying a new pizza
