I ended up at this place during a Toronto festival while my friends and decided not to look at maps and go to a place that looked good to us objectively. And we agreed on the Black Horse. Soon it was made obvious that we'd chosen well. The staff was caring and the food was flavorful and filling. There were reasonable options and and the ambiance is good. There is even a regal couch in the seating area and a porch in the back. We weren't told about it when we walked in but found out about it later on. A good experience overall.

Cozy place but it took a weirdly long time for our food to arrive. We just had breakfast and there was only one other table. I'd say it was a little on the pricey side as wellbut not too bad. Nice atmosphere otherwise. Good spot to chill and have beers I imagine.

Out for a girls night and came in the Black Horse for a meal and drinks. We were greeted by a lovely man who was more than happy to take out order. The inside was a nice comfortable space that had a very pretty lounging area in the back that we will come back and enjoy. The service was great and attentive! I had the steak sandwich with fries and it was cooked perfectly.
Overall the experience was awesome!

Headed out with some friends for a few drinks and food. Went somewhere else first and had a horrible experience there so we kinda just wandered in here not knowing what to expect. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise. What a fantastic night! Great food (drool worthy fries) & great service. Staff were so friendly, atmosphere was nice & relaxed. Service was just amazing. Would highly recommend stopping in here for a casual night with friends.

Unsure why this is rated as a single $ in the overview. Perhaps this place is under new ownership or they have dramatically raised prices. Place is clean, patio is nice and the vintage furniture is lovely. However,  a basic beer like Amsterdam is $11 a pint! Shocking! There are lots of choices in this neighbourhood, and places with friendlier staff and a better atmosphere charge on average 20% less.
