My favorite deli in the city! So lucky to work nearby, I learned about this from several old residents in the neighborhood. This place is highly respected in the community. Nobody says bad things about this place in terms of food quality, customer services, and community consciousness & contribution. I have been getting their pastries, cakes, tarts, sandwiches, and deli food. Oh their coffee is best on the street. Today, I got - Ravioli salad with mushrooms & arugula: This is my favorite. Seasoning is modest, which makes the ingredients' natural rich flavor stand out. Every time I eat this, I appreciate the different wild mushrooms' textures and natural, earthy flavors. So delicate! - Beef Stir fry: First time to try this and loved this! The beef is cut into generous chunk, and was suuuuupeerrr tender. I did not reheat this in microwave as it may kill this perfectly done beef's texture. Price is on higher end, but in my opinion, well worth it.

Daniel et Daniel was my first foray into the neighbourhood of Cabbagetown and since they are on Carlton St. below where I'm staying for now, it made sense to check them out. (they are model neighbours too) There's usually a lineup at typical times of the day, and keep in mind that only one person is allowed inside at a time for now. Since I was ready for lunch, I asked for the roasted vegetables and fish to along with it. Check out my pics for details. I didn't really know quantities and ended up with enough to have a second meal later in the day. The quality was excellent with everything cooked to perfection. My order would have been good for two and came to $28. I was told that their croissants are excellent and coffee decent, although nearby Jet Fuel is the go-to for quality. There are also bogo deals on the croissants later in the day which I look forward to checking out first hand.

Been going back for couple years now they changed all the front staff with people don't know nothing about daniel food .what a shame yesterday stopped by all the items had proce sticker but themeduim French beef contain no price so instead charge 19.95 they charged 29.95 thats 10$ extra for the staff plus $5 tip what a scam. I advice the future customers to check the recipetif they give one

We used Daniel et Daniel for our catering at the Hockey Hall of Fame and have received RAVE reviews from our global attendees. Meredith was so easy to work with, prompt in her responses and worked with all of my dietary requests. They created a menu that represented the neighborhoods in Toronto and this was a huge hit, something for everyone! Even my Vegan attendees were able to enjoy. Thank you!!

Why can't all caterers be like Daniel et Daniel? I mean, even at the most basic level. We were doing an event at MaRS and reached out to all four preferred caterers on the list. Two never responded after multiple attempts. One took forever to get back to us and sent a long questionnaire. Laura from Daniel et Daniel made the bidding process super easy. I simply told Laura what we were looking for, and she drafted an estimate immediately, DAYS before the competition. All the food on the menu sounded healthier and more appetizing. As a startup, we needed to have a specific payment structure and guarantee deadline. Laura worked with us on both of those, remaining courteous and professional. Even onsite, the staff was fantastic. With minimal guidance, they executed our order seamlessly. That's one benefit of working with a preferred caterer. Most importantly, the food was phenomenal. Better than most catered food I've had in the US. My personal favorites were the chia pudding for breakfast and melon prosciutto cubes for the reception. If you're looking for a caterer in Toronto and especially at MaRS, I'd highly recommend Daniel et Daniel. I can't speak about any of the other sales reps, but Laura demonstrated top-notch customer service, response time, and foresight into what clients need. We hope to work with them for our conference again next year.

I was supposed to book catering from Pickle Barrel 24 hours ahead but I forgot to do it. I frantically called a few other catering shops but they all require 24 hours ahead. Luckily I bumped into D& D and they have shop to sell readily made yummy food. It turns out to be a great success, people loved the food and I will book from them from now on.

This place is a true neighbourhood gem. There's a reason there is often a lineup outside! Great coffee and tea, excellent pastries, and delicious food -- and the menu changes daily! I was impressed by the prices, too. Quite reasonable for such a gourmet spot! Definitely by go-to for interesting takeout. And the staff! They're so genuinely sweet.

This place is amazing. I came here for coffee and saw the macarons and just had to get them because I have a slight obsession. They were delightful and made well. I went back for a second coffee later in the day and had I not already packed a lunch I would have bought one of their many lunch items that looked absolutely delicious.

Macaron Day TO I have evaluated macarons from the following establishments: Petit Thuet, Bobbette and Belle, Daniel et Daniel, Butter Avenue, Nadege, Moroco Chocolat, Ruelo Patisserie, and La Bamboche. Each location was graded on their atmosphere, service, selection, packaging, and of course, macarons. Please check out my profile for reviews of the other locations. Daniel et Daniel Location: 248 Carlton St. (On the corner of Carlton and Parliament, take streetcar eat from College Station). Slightly off the beaten path in downtown Toronto. Street parking available. Atmosphere: No sit down, tiny little bakery shop right on the corner. Dark interiors. Selection: Small with many of the macarons being brightly and unnaturally coloured. Many rows of differing shades of colour but we were told they were the same flavours. Service: Service was okay, friendly staff behind the counter but they were unknowledgeable about their macaron flavours. Packaging: I asked for a little box to put my two macrons and was given an adorable little "boxy-bag". Perfect size and rigid enough to put in your purse without crushing the product! Macaron: Having heard lovely things about Daniel et Daniel's catering and lunches, looked forward to trying their macarons but was highly disappointed. First of all, the flavour was simply orange, not blood orange. Secondly, both the orange and pistachio macarons I had were inconsistently made. Parts of the innards were soft, but other parts were chewy and gave me the "peanut butter on the roof of your mouth" texture. The shell of both were visably bumpy, an indication that their flour was not ground enough or not strained enough. The flavour of the orange was too strong, while the pistachio was too light. Each macaron was tiny and cost $1.50 each. Now I know why. Conclusion: I do not think I would go out of my way to Daniel et Daniel, and certainly not for their macarons. Though I would not intentionally avoid them, the experience was not a particularly impressive one. I give Daniel et Daniel a C. My final thoughts: Out of all the macarons and locations I've tried (and ensuring to cleanse my palette with water after each bite), the top two contenders have to be Ruelo and Butter Avenue. Both establishments made macaroons their specialty and both execute them incredibly well. You honestly cannot go wrong with either of them. Nadege is a good alternative and if you're looking for a dine-in experience to try other nibblets. La Bamboche is nice on the go. Moroco Chocolate and Bobbette and Belle are also both worthy choices. I would avoid Daniel et Daniel or Petit Thuet though I heard good things about their other ventures and products (macarons are definitely not their forte).

Two basic MBA type rules are: 10% of customer with a valid complaint do so, and 80% of sales are lost due to lack of interest in the vendor. D and D aced them both. Two follow phone ups and one email for a take out order over 10 days resulted in no response. The receptionist said they were very busy. So that is the best excuse to maintain a loyal customer?
