Los Gyros just opened its second location in the old Dominion Pub space, which is a welcome surprise around here since we're pretty short on restaurant choices. Inside, the vibe is decent--the bathrooms are bright and clean, there are black-light murals on the walls, and there's even a small stage in the back room. I also couldn't help but notice there was a ton of staff on duty, which was good to see - service was pretty attentive. The menu was less varied than I was hoping - everything kind of felt similar. We ended up with the carne asada tacos (4 pieces) and Al Pastor nachos. They also gave us some chips and salsa on the house. For drinks, we grabbed a Piñada (non-alcoholic) and a mojito. Honestly, the drinks were the highlight--both were great, and they had a good variety of non-alcoholic options. It did feel odd that the mojito was only 50¢ more than the Piñada, though! The carne asada wasn't my favourite; the beef was chopped really small, almost like ground meat, which made it a bit dry and chewy. The flavor itself was good, though, and I surprisingly liked the corn tortillas (usually not a fan). The nachos were decent--generous amount of toppings, but I could've used more pineapple to really bring out that Al Pastor flavor. On the plus side, they had a live singer performing throughout the night, which was super fun and added a cool vibe. However, I did feel the prices were a bit on the higher side (though unfortunately becoming standard), so it might not be a spot I frequent. Still, it's nice to have another option in the neighborhood if I'm in the mood for good drinks and some casual eats.

Local Mexican spot that is unassuming on the outside, but don't be fooled, has really great authentic food and portions are generous. The salsa platter was a nice suprise and wonderful to try! The staff were warm and welcoming and welcomed everyone- it was so nice to be surrounded by such a diverse group. Truly felt welcomed and recommend anytime!
