The best take out for good Jewish food! Love the Kugel, blintzes and Mandelbrot. Been going there for decades. It's where my mom shopped.

Norton Foods is not a bad place for your ready-made meals and basic groceries. It also has a nice selection of Jewish food. But there's one big problem with Nortown. Their prices are out to lunch. Everything is super expensive, and the portions are small. And it's not like the food is gourmet takeout to justify the pricing. They just rely on their regular customer base who prefer the convenience of location and familiarity and don't mind paying inflated prices. Another problem is that they have zero produce. Not a single vegetable to be found. So basically Nortown is the polar opposite of Costco. Id rather spend my money elsewhere.

Having been a loyal customer for over 40 years, I regret to say that Nortown has become greedy & unreliable. Twice I have gotten a chicken from them to make soup & twice the chicken was old enough to vote, & my soup went down the drain. Their prices have skyrocketed & as a retired businesswoman I get supply & demand & in this market everything has gone up: but their prices are so high, they may price themselves out of business. No reason for bones, which used to be free, are $12. for enough to make bone broth. Beef ribs: $25. for 5, 2 strip steaks:$28 c'mon! They've had a monopoly on this kind of Kosher style food for so many decades, I guess they think they can charge whatever they want. Guess again, Brian. Price gouging is not a good plan.

Fantastic butcher and specialty food shop. Try the BBQ chicken!!! They tend to sell out of these (that's how good they are) so maybe call first to avoid disappointment?

Purchased a stuffed chicken breast and potatoes from their hotcase. The stuffed chicken breast was not only tasteless, but apparently, I paid for mostly limp chicken skin. The potatoes were undercooked but were tasty as soon as I got them in to the microwave and put some salt on them. All in all, not worth the $11 I paid for this meal.

Excellent quality meat and value from Nortown! (And no concerns that the animals were pumped full of something unnatural.) All the butcher staff are very friendly and helpful. If this butcher is local to you/convenient, it is a no-brainer to shop here. Once you've had their quality of meat, you will not go back to a supermarket. I don't even shop in a regular supermarket anymore - I love that I can shop locally and support the businesses in my neighbourhood. They have the butcher counter, pre-prepared dishes, a hot counter, other normal groceries. It's on the small side and often more busy than not. Open M-F & Sunday, not open on Saturdays. Usually open until 7 during the week, Sun. until 6. If you're going out of your way, definitely call to confirm their hours. Open most statutory holidays

Prepared food is delicious but expensive and the butcher section offers fairly a decent selection of fresh fish, meat and poultry. Unfortunately some of the women working behind the counter in the prepared food section are so rude that by the time you finish putting up with their nastiness you just want to grab your containers of gefilte fish and head to the checkout counter. They would probably be wise to give lessons in good customer service or replace some of those nasty clerks behind the prepared food counter!

A word to the wise from someone who is on the inside but trying to get out. Things are not as they seem at Nortown. The section of "naturally raised, organic meat" is actually the same crap as everything else. And trust me when I say it's crap. The ground turkey? Not turkey at all but a mix of chicken and veal, just like the "group chicken" It's a horrible place.

Lately I find the quality has declined Steaks were tough twice now. The staff are always "busy" and looks like hey are doing me a favour in serving. Checkout is appalling. Prepared foods are decent and we do enjoy the spicy smoked sausages. Bruno's is same price and quality is superior

We usually get salmon stakes fro Nortown Foods. They are always fresh and delicious. They also carry Moo Moo Bars which I ted to buy quite often despite the price.
