I didn't see this one coming and I was pleasantly surprised. It's a hidden bar part of the Annex Hotel? Beautiful decor inside and it's such a vibe. We came during happy hour so drinks were discounted. Ordered some bread and spread to have some carbs with the wine while we just had an afternoon catching up. Honestly, considering how busy Annex and Ktown can be, I wasn't expecting such a peaceful quiet place. A great discovery and both the inside bar and the outside patio are really nicely designed. It actually inspired me to have a look into their website for their room rates because a little staycation here would be nice too

Stumbled on the secret garden back patio of the lobby bar on the first summery day of this year -- operating as an oyster bar right now. A thrill to stumble over this in a back alley! Had a glass of natural wine and some Atlantic oysters.

Technically, I never stayed here, so the review should be zero stars. Certainly the problem solving and customer service skills of their staff ("Cheyenne") deserve a zero rating. I was excited to stay here on my vacation to TO. Close to Kensington Market and the website pics looked hip and great. Bought 2 nights with Capital One CC points for 1 room and 1 night for another room for a friend who was joining us from Barrie, also on CC points. I like innovative models, so wasn't deterred by the no front desk, get an email with your room code model they have. But in the 2 weeks between when I booked and paid and was driving to TO to stay, never got the email. I called the not-helpdesk at 2:45 as we were planning to leave Guelph to drive there, and Cheyenne said that's weird you should have gotten an email. She apparently tried resending through their system on 2 different emails I have and it never came through. The check in process is like 3 steps, a few emails and links to register online back and forth, so she finally just emailed me the registration code directly, not through their system. I went to their website and plugged in the code and it said I'd get an email with the registration link. But also this never came. More calls to Cheyenne, who said several times she'd call back in 30 minutes after talking to her IT Manager. We're 3 hours in at this point and I still don't have a way to access my room. When I called her back again after she didn't (it's now 7pm and we're almost at TO), she said someone would walk me through how to access over the phone when I got there and I could just give her my CC details for incidentals. Oh except also, we see you haven't paid for the room yet so we'll go ahead and take care of that on your CC you're about to give me. NO THANKS. So I said cancel everything, we're staying somewhere else, because after 4 hours you haven't solved the issue and now are trying to double charge me $700 for 3 room nights paid for through Capital One CC points 2 weeks ago. On the phone with Capital One and advised them what happened and that I am staying somewhere else as I have no more time for these games and lousy process and unhelpfulness on my vacation and apparently The Annex is saying they won't refund the payment to CapitalOne who won't refund my points because I never showed. Le sigh. If you are comfortable getting stressed out with an automated process that sometimes fails without a live person who cares and/or is competent to solve their problems, then book at the The Annex. The pics look great. But lord help you if the computer says no to you because Cheyenne will not save you and then they will lie and blame you to steal your money/points. The Annex can be unhelpful, ruthless and ineffective. You've been warned.
