# Castello Ristorante – Authentic Italian Dining Experience in Woodbridge, Toronto

Castello Ristorante is a family-owned Italian restaurant located in Woodbridge, Toronto, celebrated for its authentic cuisine and elegant ambiance. With over 20 years of service, it has established itself as a staple in the community, offering a diverse menu that caters to both casual diners and those seeking a venue for special occasions. Castello is a family-owned restaurant that has been around for over 20 years and can be considered one of the "OG" Italian restaurants in the Woodbridge/ Vaughan area. Not only is it a restaurant serving lunch and dinner, but it also has the space to host private events- wedding reception, birthday parties, company events, etc! They also offer catering services for your next private party. We had a reservation on a Thursday evening for a nice dinner at around 7pm. The interior was classy with chandeliers and a huge flower centerpiece, but kept it warm, with intimate lighting. They weren't too busy in the dining area as only a few tables were occupied, contrary to the big event they had going on on the mezzanine floor. We were greeted by the lovely restaurant manager, Kevin, who brought us to our table which was tucked at the back corner of the dining area. Here's what we ordered and what we thought of them... DRINK: - Verbena Blues Lemonade: the original version was a vodka-lemonade cocktail, but my boss requested it non-alcoholic and they were able to accommodate her request. The colour of the drink was a beautiful azure that reminded you of the ocean water. (I didn't get to taste it as it's my boss's drink... but she finished the whole drink so I assumed it was good enough?) FOOD: - Cozze Marinara (PEI mussels in tomato sauce): well-cooked mussels... in a pool of seasoned tomato sauce. The only slight issue was the amount of crushed shell pieces inside the mussels was a little much. - Beet Arugula: the dish's name says itself... essentially an arugula salad with beet chunks, sprinkled with feta cheese and crushed pistachio. The dressing was said to be "berry vinaigrette", but it tasted more like olive oil to us. It was a refreshing dish to balance out all the salt. - Rigatoni Profumo De Bosco (mushroom rigatoni pasta with rose sauce): the pasta was al dente so it still had a bounce in every bite, the sauce though... it was a tad bit too salty for our palate, as the dish already came with prosciutto (small tiny bits and pieces of it) which was salty in itself, together with the salt in the sauce, it was overpowering. - Scaloppini Al Limone (veal with veggie): it was my first time having veal and possibly going to be my last. The texture of the veal was dry and a bit tough to cut into. It had the texture of a thin pork cutlet rather than the tenderness of red meat (maybe I am wrong?) DESSERT: - Tiramisu: it's almost a MUST ORDER whenever I dine at an Italian restaurant. The ladyfinger part was moist without being too soggy, and the mascarpone layer wasn't enough to give the overall bite a more rich, and velvety texture. Not saying it's not tasty, but if they put more mascarpone, it would have been CHEF's KISS!

We had my cousin's baby shower/post-wedding reception at this restaurant Interior of the restaurant is beautiful Chandeliers and some skylights Very classy on the inside We had a charcuterie board to start Meats and pickled veggies with bocconcini cheese and breads It was delish and a definitely liked the veggies especially the beets Second course was a penne rose or a la vodka Forgot to take a pic Was good.....sauce was nice....added some chili oil that was on the table to give it an added kick Main was veal with veggies in a beef stock that had olives and sundried tomatoes Nice and moist Not overdone Veggies were nice Service was great throughout No complaints and the venue did a great job for the amount of people that attended

Everything is very good and authentic, I recommend this place. Food is fresh and amazing, one of the best Italian restaurants in Vaughan.

This was our third time at Castello, we even had my husbands 80th Birthday Party there and it was amazing, the food and the service was great. But when we went for a New Years Eve Dinner, it was a little disappointing. We were seated right away, great, waited about 15 minutes for someone to ask us about drinks but he came rushed and his words were fast and he looked like he was in a hurry, I was taken aback. We ordered our meal, starting with the charcuterie board, Did not feel is was worth the price, $38.00 for about 4 pieces of thick sliced prosciutto, fat and all, 2 pieces of bread, 4 pieces of tiny parmigiana some salami, olives and pickled eggplant, that was it, one tiny cheese selection, no spreads, not enough bread, we had to ask for more. I would not order this again. Our meal was very good but minimal and my husbands veal was a bit tough. All in all we had a good evening, the restaurant was not full and not that busy, it was loud but they had large parties so that was to be expected and It's New Years Eve so again, expected. Another thing, when I looked at the Website to see if the menu was different for the night a saw a special for that night for $150.00 per person, champagne included so we decided to go, I then realized that once they called to confirm my reservation and then looking at the website again that the ad was from 2019 but still up on their site, my bad I guess for not looking at the date but should it really still be up? Will I go back, probably, will I order differently, yes! but this special evening was a little disappointing. Not from US, live in Etobicoke, Ont.

My wife and I were guests at an early dinner for a group of 20 people. While all of us were there on time, we were left waiting for a disgusting 55 minutes before we were seated because the place was overbooked. It was very infuriating to be left standing in the foyer and made our hosts extremely embarrassed to have been put in such an undesirable situation. They came out with a pizza snack after about 45 minutes that we had been waiting in order to appease us but that could not erase the bad reputation that the restaurant had made for itself by that time. Also, no senior person was around to whom we could complain and the staff didn't appear to really know what was going on. To make matters worse, many of the staff spent a long time setting up tables for a large group in an area close to where we were supposed to be and that area remained empty for a very long time which made us wonder if something could have been done in order to accommodate us. When we finally sat down, the food followed quickly and it was generally good. My filet mignon was cooked to perfection and the servers were efficient and courteous. However, a number of us were left with a bad taste about the place and decided that we would surely not organize any event over there.

I arrived 8pm and immediately gave my waiter my appetizers. 30 mins later the waiter states he didn't put in my appetizer as I needed to put in my entree with it all at once. I did not like this kind of pressure as a restaurant experience and to also see other sitters who came in after me not being told to put in their entrees at the same time of their appetizers. Awful service.

We had a reservation arrived at on time @ 8:15, we told to wait and didn't get seated until 8:40. Then we ordered a bottle of wine and after bringing the bottle our server was MIA. We didn't even get water for the table. Once she finally arrived to take our order about 20mins after seating she was gone again for another 20 mins. We didn't get any bread for the table until just before the apps arrived and I had to waved down another waiter for some water. Our server returns with our tiny jug of water and says they ran out of pizza dough ... at an Italian place during 50% capacity restrictions. Just didn't make sense. Apart from the constant wait for every little thing, and having to ask for basic things like water refills, and fresh cutlery after courses, the server kept trying to upsell us items. Just came across a little rude since the service for standard items was falling below par. Finally, at the end of dinner she was offering us dessert, when we had brought a birthday cake with us... the bill was being paid and were all waiting for the cake we brought. So I had to type it in my phone and asked her where the cake was. Her eyes widen and she scurried away to bring the cake. Returns with the cake and some coworkers to sing HBD - the effort there was noted but still the service can across as super unorganized Overall, the food items alone were good 7/10, but not worth the sad level of service and constant waiting. Covid has done a number on places so we tried to be lenient but in the end you can find better Italian places. Hoping this review leads to some much needed improvements

Disappointing experience and service. We booked a large family event, and the restaurant wasn't ready we were charged for a welcome cocktail for our guests and it wasn't there (however we were still charged in full), no vendors are permitted so we had to order the cake through the venue and there was no cake, one of the servers showed up at the end of the meal with a random small cake they had gone out to purchase and denied it until one of the other staff let it slip and told us (we were still charged almost $300 for the cake), not to mention it was too small for our event, stale and didn't match our event at all. Our guests were there for over an hour before anyone appeared and took any drink orders. At our salad course, it was served to our table undressed, and the salad was slimey, wilted and watery (no one at any of the tables could eat it). There wasn't any management staff present that day and the staff working there didn't know what to do at all. Upon leaving we went to pay the bill and were forced to pay a $900 tip and the person who took our payment didn't even acknowledge the disappointing performance. The restaurant has done nothing to make this right, we were so excited for this event and this restaurant is over-priced, service was so poor and I was ashamed in front of my family.

Ordered petty much everything - salad, pizza, pasta, steak, dessert... See photos for food order Quality is above average, but I found the food overpriced. Location is just a local family restaurant style-like within a small plaza. We were seated at a 2 person table in a dark corner even we made reservation for our table of 3. When the restaurant got busier, our table is basically ignored. We had to chase after them for food or dessert that came late. There were flies were we were eating too... I would not return again based on the overall experience.

Bad bad place for any function cerebration be careful people , they tell one price up front then charge much more at the end . I will not recommend it to nobody. Place too small service too slow food not enough Charge for things you didn't asked for break upfront contract.
