I honestly went here because the prices looked fantastic and they were! Mediocre breakfast, nothing super special. The atmosphere and ambiance is super cute! Service was also so fast! I was able to get a table pretty quick on a Sunday morning. I'd go here today if I wanted a cheap breakfast dine in!

Right at the corner of Edgeley and Portage (formerly Applewood), this diner and it's signs popped out to us from day one and we finally stepped in almost a year after being in the area. We were greeted with a blast of retro decor that looked very well maintained - it was not shabby or "rustic" but more like a walk into the past when the items were actually quite new. The space is clean and well lit, which is nice. The menu is not surprising nor complicated - your standard breakfast diner fare with all the combinations you're looking for. Additionally there's the "lunch items" like sandwiches, burgers, soups - so there's something for every appetite. Unfortunately vegetarian options are limited, so do keep that in mind. So far, their benedicts and omelettes have been great and a good standard item if you're unsure of what to get! House coffee is also pretty standard and inoffensive. Look out for specials posted on the wall or ask your server! Their fries have been the best we've had in a while which is a huge plus - crispy but not hard on the outside, soft on the inside, and served hot. If I could get them with the home fries spices they would be the next level best thing! They use small eggs here so don't be alarmed by the number of eggs mentioned for each benedict or omelette - and trust that they will be tasty and done to preference. Prices are reasonable for the fare and service, not too costly but not a huge steal - it's a reasonable price range for the effort required and gives comfort that they're making the money to stick around and hopefully be there for a long time! Don't be afraid to call ahead to book a table - especially if you're a big group. Many can be accommodated but since it's a local small shop some coordinating may be necessary. Overal, no concerns about their food and I'll be back for sure when I'm looking for some hearty breakfast food!

Stopped by here before we went to Canada's wonderland. It's a cute little diner with bench seating and jukeboxes at each table. There's a menu posted at your booth or you can get an actual plastic menu to look at. Prices were fairly reasonable and service was quick....even with only one waitress. We got our food very fast. Food was good and we got individual containers of ketchup which was nice. Home fries were perfect. All in all a great simple meal for breakfast.

Quaint diner with little juke boxes at each booth along the window, not sure if they work because we sat at a different booth in the middle of the restaurant and didn't have one. The waitresses are super nice. We had some mishaps with our meals but they corrected it quickly. The service was quick. You get quite a bit of food for the average price of brunch you usually pay elsewhere so it's definitely worth it. Pop in for a nice throw back to the 50s era!

One of rather few options in the immediate surrounding area (although some new eateries have opened up on the opposite side of the street in the last few years). We did a group lunch here since it was one of the few options location-wise that could accommodate a group for lunch of about 6 people with sit-down service yet casual atmosphere. It's a very typical diner, with 50's & 60's decor and memorabilia (including juke machines at some of the tables which, unfortunately, can't actually play music and aren't to be handled by customers). It's almost boring to write a 3 star review which tells you everything you need to know - it's your average diner with average service, average food, average prices. Don't get me wrong there's nothing particularly bad or wrong with the place, but it really was just average in every way - some of the food items weren't very hot, return service when asking for items like water, creamers, ketchup, etc. was not quick, and so on in every way, down to the waiting for and paying of the bill. Its real strength is its lack of obvious competition at this intersection, since the area has only starting really expanding recently with the opening of the new subway station. This diner has been here much longer and they have "home advantage" because of it, so, if you're in the area, it'll do.

For a couple of years now Gordo's has been a go-to establishment for breakfast with my family. The food has been amazing and many of the servers are excellent. But, something changed the last time we went. 7 of us ordered breakfast. I ordered the same skillet that I loved the last time. All of our eggs were overcooked. Most importantly, there was a hair in my mother-in-law's food. She sent it back and didn't want anything else. We noticed the cooking staff does wear hats, but not beard nets. We found a long hair in another meal which may have been one of ours... and didn't return it. But, it wasn't enjoyed either. My mother-in-law's meal was removed from the bill... but guess was was added? 13% gratuity. Yup, 7 diners, who ultimately ate 6 meals was given the GROUP treatment. Now, our waitress was pretty good. The table was wobbly and she helped us fix it. She forgot to order chocolate-chip pancakes and immediately realized her mistake and got it fixed quickly. And when the food had hair in it she apologized. But, we got charged 13% tip, when things were not up to par. THAT should be up to us to decide. And THAT is the reason I wont bring people with me again. It was embarrassing, and frustrating. We had talked this place up to my father in-law, and were so disappointed. It was expensive, and the food was sub-par this time (and to be clear, for the first time). We ordered 7 plates, and ate 6. 1 was a plate of fruit, and one was kids pancake - and our meal was $122 after tax and gratuity - that means our meal cost an average of $20 per diner. Too much. Hey Gordo! You might want to check back in on this place... it's slipping.

Gordo's is one of the spots I always go to for breakfast when I'm in Toronto. Better than Waffle House and more cozy than IHOP. The home fries are LEGIT and my go to "Breakfast on a Bun" makes me feel at home (even tho I can't make it taste this good at home). Pancakes are always on point and the waitress is most likey the most hospitable Canadian on the planet, and that's saying A LOT. Go to Gordo's if you want to eat like you're supposed to for breakfast!

This place never fails to satisfy. Great atmosphere and something for everyone on the menu. Friendly staff, good parking and the food is good. Don't let the exterior fool you, it may not look like much outside but it's worth a visit.
