I am only basing this on the wonderful red beer I had while waiting for my friend to arrive. The Ale Rousse is refreshing and light and I enjoyed it very much. The bartender was attentive and nice. Didn't order any food since I had limited time, but the menu had the basics. In true Montreal form, the menu was published in both French and English, which was nice.

The food was okay. and that was the best part. I arrived with my sister around 9am to have something to eat. After sitting for about 10-15 minutes, we were finally given a menu. About 20 minutes later, we were approached to order. I tried to order an item from the non-breakfast section, but they weren't serving that at the time. We then ordered breakfast and tea. The food came out eventually, but the tea took even longer although it's just a tea bag and hot water... After we finished eating the sub-par food, we were approached maybe an hour later to have our plates taken and pay the bill. I paid with card and planned to tip in cash since I assume restaurant staff prefer cash over electronic tipping. 2 minutes later, a different server than the one who had presented the bill came and asked us why we didn't like the service. My sister and I were confused since we never said we didn't like it, but she then aggressively explained that gratuity is not included in the bill and we tipped 0%. I asked if they accepted cash, and she said yes. Then she walked away and our original server returned with the bill for our muffin and asked if we wanted to add our tip to that bill instead. So we tipped $5. We would have tipped $20 in cash, but the interaction was so unpleasant that we just paid the second bill and got up to leave. Never coming back. Not to mention, we also heard the same rude server demand a tip from another customer as we were leaving. Tipping is not required at any establishment to my knowledge, with the exception of large parties. I don't appreciate it being demanded from me, especially when it was already coming your way.

After clearing customs and immigration and entering the public arrival area, this pub is a short walk to the left. We waited for our friend, who was arriving on a different flight, here. This is a small, open restaurant and bar that has a good view of the arrivals area. We could easily spot our friend soon after he cleared customs and immigration. The pub is named after the famous British-Canadian, John Molson, who is probably best known for Molson beer (Molson Brewery). A limited selection of beer is available with some on tap: $9.49 to $10.49 for a 14-ounce pour and $10.99 to $11.99 for a 20-ounce pour. They also serve cocktails, spirits, and wine and have an espresso machine too. The food menu offers small bites like marinated olives ($8.49) and cheese and charcuterie, bigger bites like nachos and tacos (3 for $15.99), burgers and sandwiches (most $17.99 each), salads, soups, and chili, and even a kids menu (e.g. $7.99 cheese sandwiches, chicken fingers, and cheese pizza). We grabbed some Molson beer on draft. A 20-ounce Export cost $10.99 plus Quebec taxes of $0.55 (TPS) and $1.10 (TVQ) for a total of $12.64 before tip. Mary was our server and she was nice. The pub has a bar in the center with tables all around. We sat at one of the two-tops facing the arrivals area. Seating behind the bar is more private and quiet. Tables can be pushed together for groups. Along with drinks, the bar has a grab-and-go selection of snacks and refreshments. Examples include fruit (bananas), nuts, Clif Bars, Gold Peak Tea, and vitaminwater. There are several TVs if you want to watch sports and the news. All prices Canadian. Receipts in French.

This is your basic airport restaurant. It is definitely nothing special. I am giving it 3 stars because the server was very attentive and friendly. I ordered a taco salad. It was lettuce with chili on it, sour cream, aNd many, many black beans. I would call this a black bean salad rather than a taco salad. I am on a low carb diet and will eat some black beans because they have a lot of fiber. This was a bit overboard on the beans. The bottom line is I would eat here again in a pinch, but would not get the taco salad againn. This was an okay experience but not much more.
