Walking by the canal, came to checkout this cafe. It's a small cute cafe! The service is amicable. The vibe is disturbing every time the barista bangs the portafilter, it happens way too often when someone orders a coffee. My latte was good though, but if I come here, I rather sit on the terrace instead of hearing the bang all the time.

So, for you anglophones reading, if you're anything like me, your first question is: "They didn't really name this place H(EIGHT)S = HATES café, did they?!" And the answer is thankfully and obviously, no.("Hates" would be a TERRIBLE name for a café lol). It's " Hâche, Huit, Ess " en français svp! And stands for the postal code of Lachine, just another endearing local element to this place. Amaaaaazing Americano coffee!! I came here with my love with the @restomania ICE Passports, so our coffees were free. Tasted almost identical to our fave roast house from Tofino and brought us instantly back to the west coast- which, on a cold february afternoon in Mtl, was worth more than all the money in the world. As usual, we opted to try some treats. Getting coffee for free with the Passport is awesome, but we like to encourage local businesses so always make a point to purchase something. Our choices today: a little brownie and a little choco-oreo square, the verdict? Wayyyy overpriced at over 2$ a pop for the size, and yet, WORTH EVERY PENNY. When inquired if they were housmade, we were told they are from Rustique in St Henri. I would describe them further, but I think part of what made them so lovely was the surprising taste explosions from each, having been told simply 'brownie and choco-oreo square': (see photo) if you see these in their display case, definitely get both! So many Québec locally made crafts, artisans, jams, spreads, spices and accessories for purchase on site. Very reasonable affordable pricing! On display so one would want to spend a good amount of time enjoying the selection, but unfortunately, that is not possible because of the set up and how understandably popular they are. Decor = kyoot, adorable, hipster. But unfortunately this set up is where they lose their star for me. The charming tall square benches and 4 inch-wooden counter set up is absolutely aesthetically pleasing and also horrendously, a$$-achingly uncomfortable. The narrow store and its attraction make it so, despite the visually pleasing aspect of every shelf, product, light fixture, moulding, art piece and seating type, one cannot really enjoy all this place has to offer and we are left simply wanting to finish our coffee to leave room for others. A sad, but necessary point to remove a star on, these folks would benefit from a larger space. This is an amazing local, eco-responsible, homemade café delight and I absolutely will be back with my contigo for an excellent americano and a goodie TO GO. I will also definitely try to snag enough perusing time at a future visit to be able to purchase some great local gifts! Excellent adorable place, H8S: live long and prosper! (But move to a bigger building, please. Decorate it exactly the same with more comfy seating options and voilà! Recipe for 5 stars!). P.S. You will pay 0.25$ more for your coffee if u get it in a to-go cup. This charge goes to support eco-friendly initiatives and I totally dig it.

the place , food, drinks themselves are awesome but the service wasn't good, the girl was rude and gave attitude to everyone. we all have off days, i understand that but all of us that were waiting and ordering looked at eachother like what's going on? she stormed off outside to get sugar and was rude about having to help the customer.

I've lived in this area for two years (10 min walk down the street) and only noticed this place today ..I decided to venture in and grab a cappuccino n baked treats to go. I'm very happy I did, and will definitely be making this a regular stop!

Cozy and nice little coffee shop by the water. Went there the first week it opened and wasn't wowed by the coffee...2 other tables sitting outside were not impressed by their coffee either. I will give it another try later and see if any improvement.

Yay!! Coffee shop in Lachine, to my knowledge it's the only one. Well it's sort of a coffee shop, they don't offer coffee here, it's not that kind of coffee shop. They do not make cold brew here either, or frappiccinos, or mochas, and they are only open till 5:00pm. So don't plan on coming here after work or as a bike destination in the summer. Yay!! I guess it's an espresso shop in Lachine with weird business hours. To their credit, they partnered with Rustique bakery and no joke, because of this genius business move, this coffee shop now has the best sweet treats of any coffee shop anywhere in the city. I just wish I could get a cup of coffee or some cold brew to go along with them. This cafe has also partnered with its neighbor to offer affogoto's! There is a short, short list of people selling this product in this city. It's just kinda weird they have different hours and you have to get your ice cream from one place and run next door for the espresso. The title "cafe" evokes an image of a place that sells coffee and sweet treats, possibly a small snack (they do sell grilled cheese Sammie's and they looked good). I can't recommend this place yet, not until they sell coffee, and enjoy selling the cafe, coffee culture. Americano's are not a substitute for drip coffee, I don't know where this idea came from.

Cute and small cafe in Lachine along the water. Great location to stop for a coffee while out on a walk. It is pretty small and there is limited seating inside and outside, so this is more for a quick stop or to take on the go during a walk. We grabbed some coffees and then sat in the park across the street right on the water.

Great coffee at competitive prices! Awesome location. Staff is friendly and the food selection is sufficient. Take your coffee to go and walk along the lake. It is nice to see small local businesses thriving in Lachine - keep it up and we will be back.

I've been going to this cafe for about a year now and i dont want to change places. The lattes are great, they now offer vegan pastries as well as normal pastries. Their coffee was my favorite thing about this place until they changed it however it still tastes good and their hot chocolates are creamy and decadent.
