Vad som gjorde det ännu bättre var att vi slog happy hour och fick två martinis för runt $ 15 totalt, vilket är en solid affär för centrala Montreal. Vi bodde på Downtown Courtyard som inte är långt. Vi ville inte gå för långt men var på väg till en plats som rekommenderas av personalen på hotellet men råkade passera och se att det här stället hade en hel del folk inne. . så vi stannade och åt där. Vi är båda glutenfria så IT är inte alltid lätt men de hade många val och var mycket tillmötesgående. IT var bra nog att vi åkte dit nästa dag också eftersom IT var bra och inte långt från hotellet. Rekommenderar starkt.

Trevlig uteservering med bra service. Min fru rapporterade att hennes wrap var mycket bra. Potatispommesen var god och sötpotatispommesen ännu bättre. Min burgare presenterades på ett fint sätt och innehöll fina bullar och pålägg. Men burgarköttet var torrt och saknade smak och krydda. Möjligen var det för magert. Priserna var lite höga för en mid - afternoon lunch, men den centrala atmosfären var trevlig.

Jag har haft många universella frukostar genom åren. Konstigt hade jag aldrig varit där för lunch. Så nyligen hade jag deras fish and chips till lunch. Jag var glad att jag kunde få en sallad i stället för chips. Men fisken gömdes under en mycket tjock, tung smet. Det påminde mig om majshundar (inte bra för fisk). Det var inget lätt och krispigt med fiskberedningen. Detta borde inte ha lämnat köket.

Jag är en matbloggare så jag kan vara kräsen med måltider, och Universel är en restaurang som jag alltid är frekventerad för sin utmärkta mat. Tjänsten är stor, servitriser är snäll, artig och uppmärksam. Atmosfären är underbar, en typ av zenliknande energi samtidigt som det är roligt och animerat. Musiken är aldrig högljudd så vi kan få socialisera utan "öra-ansträngning". Varje gång vi besöker Montreal kommer vi hit, det finns inte många platser i centrum som erbjuder 2 till 1 på öl och vin. Nachos är spot on, och ribsteak är den bästa biff jag någonsin har haft. Jag vill tacka Matthew och Morgan för deras enastående service och vi kommer tillbaka så snart vi kan!
