My friend had been to San Ángel Inn 40 years prior and raved about her memories of the beautiful setting and amazing food. Today's San Ángel delivered on both of those.

Unfortunately, we had a significant issue with the service - to be clear NOT with the wait staff but the matr'd and supervisor. Though we had interior courtyard reservations (which you MUST experience), we were told that there was a mistake and that there were no tables available. The courtyard was nearly empty (when we left there were still open tables) and we were offered a table in the corner and in the smoking section (without being told of the latter). We were reseated twice, but once these matters were resolved, we found the food and a service to be wonderful.

Bottom Line: I recommend highly, but check your seating and self-advocate.

Beautiful atmosphere and great food! Really a unique experience with a center garden area that is great to take in before and after your meal.

Stunning. Pop in for a Margarita (probably the best service of Margarita you will have in all your days) and a cake in the stunning courtyard if you're in the area. The Torta de elotes is light and delicious.

The venue is incredibly beautiful and if you are in town to see some of the museums or to go to the local shops it's a terrific stop to recharge.

A classic proper dining experience. The food is not cutting-edge or challenging, it is traditional, tasty and dare I use the word "classy". It is the place you bring your family to celebrate a milestone or an out-of-town business associate. Gorgeous and regal, a callback to a gadget-free fine dining experience.

En mycket vacker plats. Gammal hacienda stil med en central trädgård. Du kan göra fantastiska bilder. Maten och Servicen var bara bra. Om jag drev det här stället, skulle jag skära ner menyn, och jag skulle ge servrarna något till andra än chit - chatt.

Utlänningar är inte välkomna! Hade min sämsta upplevelse på över tre år att bo och äta i Mexiko. Maten var okej men för dyrt. Servicen var dock fruktansvärd. Vi var tvungna att be om att få se en meny. Vi var också tvungna att be om att få se en vinlista. När servitören kom med vinet tänkte jag att han kanske var hög. Han ställde ner vinglaset hårt och hällde snabbt upp några droppar som jag skulle smaka. Det var otillräckligt för att lukta. När jag godkände hällde han snabbt upp lite mer och vände sig om för att gå men jag ringde tillbaka. Jag ville se flaskan som han aldrig visade mig! Min partner hade beställt en födelsedagstårta till mig. De glömde. De tog äntligen med den efter att vi var klara med allt inklusive kaffe. Då kunde de inte få mariachibandet att spela födelsedagslåten. Allt det här var förutbestämt av min partner. Skötarna i bañon ville inte svara på mina buenas trades hälsningar eller ge mig en handduk... båda gångerna jag gick. Men de serverade mexikanerna. Det regnade när vi kom och åkte. Betjänterna hade inga paraplyer och de öppnade inte vår dörr. Det var mycket tydligt att dessa servitörer inte ville servera oss. De gav bra service till de andra gästerna runt omkring oss. Men eftersom jag var utlänning var de antingen obekväma eller ville inte tjäna oss. Fruktansvärt, fruktansvärd service!

Man går inte till den här typen av ställe enbart på grund av kökets styrka. Atmosfären här är unik, trädgården är vacker och en oas av lugn. Som sagt, köket, även om det inte låtsas göra något originellt eller särskilt modernt, är solid, med bra ingredienser. Margaritas, och stilen de serveras i, är ett måste om du inte har provat dem tidigare. Servicen är oändligt artig men förvänta dig inte många amerikanska stil leenden, och vara beredd att be mer än en gång för det ena och det andra eftersom de glömmer. Priserna är höga med mexikansk standard, men detta är en unik plats. Om du sedan på lediga tider (som mycket tidig middag) , kommer du att undvika förvirring och publiken.

Utmärkt mat, vacker trädgård. Vi var där för middag men jag tror att en trevlig lunch skulle vara bättre. Du kan njuta av trädgården bättre.

Inrymt i en gammal pulque hacienda, är denna restaurang arkitektoniskt vacker. Stilen är kolonial mexikansk. Mycket trevligt. Det brukade vara en elegant, exklusiv, high end plats. Nu har det blivit en massifierad attraktion. Logga vänta på ett bord. Service vänlig och effektiv. Maten är okej. Margaritas god, serveras från personliga silver amforor. Dyrt.

Vi har besökt San Angel Inn, vanligtvis med vänner, i mer än 25 år. Det är alltid en händelse som platsen, atmosfären och maten har alltid varit stor. Det senaste besöket var en besvikelse. Läget är fortfarande underbart, atmosfären är fortfarande densamma, men maten har tagit en djupdykning. Menyn har förenklats sedan covid och detta är bra eftersom menyn brukade vara ganska förvirrande. Tjänsten har bibehållits till sin vanliga höga standard. Servitören är professionell och kunnig och är oändligt tålmodig. Maten var bara tillräckligt detta besök. Filet mignon var bedrövligt överkokt (efterfrågad medium, men var bortom välgjord, delvis på grund av att beredaren vid bordet inte uppmärksammade vad han gjorde). Andra förrätter var tillräckliga, men det verkar som om den gamla uppmärksamheten på detaljer och smak har gett efter för bara genomsnittliga. Jag känner att restaurangen vilar på lagrarna. Med tanke på de priser som tas ut förväntar man sig en hög nivå av livsmedelsberedning.

Vi fördes hit av en mexikansk vän / kollega och hans fru för lunch efter en multi - dag affärshändelse. Atmosfären i denna gamla hacienda är härlig, det kändes som om vi var tillbaka i Spanien från arkitektur och inredning. Vår värd beställde mat och dryck, och vi har haft flera rätter, inklusive anka och vaktel, som var läckra. Tjänsten var inte perfekt synkroniserad, men inte illa med tanke på hur upptagen platsen var. Deras margaritas är väl - tillverkade från grunden, bland de bästa jag någonsin haft.

Vi förväntade oss att maten och servicen skulle kompensera - för den starten: det gjorde det inte. Servicen är absolut sämst, tio minuters handvinkning räckte aldrig för att få någons uppmärksamhet, men några andra matgäster erbjöd sig att hjälpa till. En traditionell restaurang med en stor lokal, inget annat, inte mat eller service.

Hela mitt liv har jag besökt San Angel Inn och hela mitt liv har det varit genomgående bra... fram till nu. I denna nya era av sociala medier blir några klassiska favoriter överväldigade och vet inte hur man ska hantera den stora vågen av uppmärksamhet och hög efterfrågan. San Angel Inn är en mycket traditionell mexikansk restaurang som ligger i en gammal hacienda, det brukade vara en bra plats för en dejt eller familjefester eller speciella tillfällen. Kundkretsen var främst lokalbefolkningen, par, affärsmän, familjer och en utspridd turist då och då. Nu har det blivit en turistfälla, där 99 procent av kunderna inte är turister där för maten eller upplevelsen utan för att ta bilder och lägga ut på sociala medier, utan lämnar inga bord tillgängliga för människor som faktiskt går dit för att äta och njuta av en god måltid. Sitta på utsidan uteplats brukade vara en trevlig upplevelse, njuta av din måltid inte innan du bygger en aptit med en god tequila ordentligt serveras med Sangrita på sidan (San Angel Inn Sangrita är en av de bästa jag har försökt) medan du lyssnar på vattnet i fontänen och fåglarna sjunger. Nu sitter du där och svärmas av turister som tar bilder av ALLT, går fram och tillbaka runt omkring dig. Tjänsten är nu dålig, långsam och de gör en hel del misstag (ta med fel sak, glöm din beställning. . ) , . Jag fattar, de vet att turister kommer att ge dem bra dricks, som de gör i USA, oavsett hur de serveras. Kvaliteten på maten har också minskat avsevärt. Deras steak tartare brukade vara en av de bästa (om inte den bästa) i stan, nu kunde jag inte ens avsluta det. San Angel Inn har så mycket historia och så mycket arv att jag definitivt kommer att gå tillbaka, hoppas att de har åtgärdat sina fel men det kommer inte att vara någon gång snart.

Vackert utrymme. Gjorde vår försenade födelsedagsmiddag extra speciell. Jag önskar att vi skulle ha planerat bättre att se Frida’a hus och sedan hamna där för middag.

San Angel är ett vackert område. Denna tidigare hacienda är en spektakulär plats att vara i San Angel. Vi hade ingen reservation på Dia de Muertos söndag men vi var tidiga. Vi satt i trädgården. Tjänsten var fantastisk. Det är inte ett modernt fusionkök. Maten är traditionell, utmärkt beredd och presenterad. Vi hade ingen alkohol, bara saft. Det finns platser i Mexico City där vi inte fick någon uppmärksamhet när servrarna insåg att vi inte kommer att beställa drycker. Det var inte så här. De gratis grönsakerna med ett dopp var också utmärkta. Vi beställde ostron, sea bass empanada och fettuccine med huitlacoche. De 10 bitarna med fasta, färska ostron tillagade i ost för 270 mexikanska pesos var helt enkelt otroliga. Empanada var så välsmakande och ordentligt kryddad att den inte krävde någon sås. Pastan var också utmärkt. Med 15% tips var räkningen $ 47 (USD) för två av oss. Vi lämnade väldigt glada. Hoppas att återvända snart.

Två vänner och jag besökte denna härliga restaurang som jag varit på två gånger tidigare. Tjänsten var exceptionell och maten och margaritas mycket minnesvärd. Min favoritdel av hela upplevelsen var att ha alla de härliga lokala familjerna skratta och njuta av varandra på en underbar lördag eftermiddag. Trädgården var också härlig och det fanns även trevlig musik! ! ! Jag kommer alltid att äta här när jag besöker Mexico City. Detta var också det perfekta stället att ha en sen comiida efter att ha besökt El Bazaar sabado.
