My wife and I stayed in this hotel on 2/25 for 6 nights. When checked in , our room had a solvent like smell. We thought it was fresh paint and over time it would go away. The sink had a water leak, we call reception and we were moved to another room. Breakfast was good, Mexican food menu changed every day.
One day we found a small cucaracha, we talked to reception and they had the cleaning service do extra cleaning behind the furniture. We realized that the "solvent' smell on the first room could had been a pesticide. Our room face the street it was noise but not annoying. The location is great, close to many attractions. I would suggest to the management and some receptionist to smile and be cool. From desk personal don't smile, and they seem either not happy or feel above their pay grade.

We stayed in a suite (3 of us) for a week and had a great time! It's an old property with an interesting history, but nicely maintained.  The hotel is in a wonderful location, very close to the Zocalo and other historic sites.  The room was very clean and comfortable, and they provided two bottles of water every day for free.  The staff was really friendly and helpful.  Breakfast was what you would expect at a Hampton Inn, and we enjoyed it several days.  Lots of really great restaurants within walking distance, as well as two downstairs.  We had no complaints and I would recommend this as a good place to stay.

I stayed at Hampton Inn & Suites Mexico City - Centro Historico for two nights in a queen room in late January 2025. I had a positive check-in experience. The hotel is in a historic building and the interiors are typical Hampton Inn by Hilton.

My room was clean, comfortable and functional. I was out sightseeing for most of my stay, so I didn't have issues with noise. The location is great!

This hotel is located in a great location, very close to the historic center. If you are looking for proximity, then this is the place. We stayed here two nights because of its location but were ready to check out the first night. When we arrived at the hotel, they told us there was no running water and said it would be fixed by 5 Am. We had arrived there at 11:00 pm. I asked them what we were supposed to do if we needed to use the bathroom, and they said they would bring a bucket of water. We were tired and were forced to stay there, and I am glad only one of us, a family of four, had to use the bathroom. Once we saw the rooms, I realized that I wouldn't overlook the water situation. The rooms were clean but outdated, and our window had cracked glass. Breakfast was another disappointment. Options were limited, and the lobby was extremely cold, so food items were cold by the time you reached your table. I had a hard time understanding why a Hilton-associated hotel would be so run down, especially since it wasn't that cheap. I figure the location is the reason why most people book here. I will recommend people to look somewhere else or call the hotel directly before booking to make sure basic services such as running water are available at that time.

We stayed here about three years ago an had a very pleasant experience. Not this time.  There are still some very friendly employees here (the concierges for instance), but there are now some very unfriendly ones, including some unsmiling haughty gal at front desk. The rooms are noisy, so be prepared for that. The doors are calibrated to slam loudly, and you can hear from your room (at least the basic rooms) any and all talking in the hallway at all hours.  The property seems to be quite run-down now - not even the most basic maintenance - though the ceiling stained glass is an appealing view from the foyer.  If you want a quiet place to stay in or near the center of the city, there are better choices now.  Oh, and the pillow cases are very rough and uncomfortable.  The breakfast offering was diverse, and yet uniformly awful tasting - the food was cold and undercooked, and most tables were left dirty. The coffee is not drinkable.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights here and thought it was a pretty decent spot. I liked that there was security at the front, they required key card access to enter the venue, and had 2 restaurants within a close proximity to choose from--seafood and one that had a bit of everything including breakfast to dinner. There was also a room service option too. We were greeted promptly and a bellman assisted with our luggage. We were quite a bit early (at least 3 hours before regular check in time). We almost put our luggage in storage, but they were able to accommodate us with a very early check in and complementary water to go with our room (Diamond Elite status). The rooms are extremely dated but are pretty comfortable--ours had a queen bed, desk and chair, lights, tv, drawers, attached bathroom and shower, ironing board, safe, and spots to hang our clothing. We also had an ice bucket and coffee machine with glassware. Unfortunately, no mini fridge. The only issue I had was with the semi-working ac since it wasn't the strongest and also seemed to work only half the time. If we would've opted for maid/cleaning service each day they would've replaced our waters (we found out from the front desk). We were on the top floor (6th), but noticed there was a lower level outdoor section we could access as an almost wrap around balcony. There was also a laundry area (complementary), basic gym--treadmill, stationary bike, free weights, elliptical--(open 24hrs) and a business office area. The breakfast was open from 6am-10am. They had coffee, tea, water, juice available. Along with a waffle station, cereal, fruit, oatmeal, a bread/pastry section, and some hot food items--rotating items daily (Mexican and US_Western type food like chilaquiles, bacon, sausage, eggs, etc). The food was ok, but they definitely were on top of it when it came to replenishing any empty items. The lobby area was nice, spacious, and homey with couches and a huge stained glass window on the top. The building has tons of historical value and was nice since we were located in the city center/downtown. It was fairly easy to catch a cab or uber from here and it was within walking distance of a ton of stuff. Great spot and pretty secure. Definitely worth a return visit!

When we checked in, the reception staff requested a secondary contact person and their number. Once I provided that information they gave us our room number and keys. The hotel staff utilized this personal information to attempt to extort us. The front office staff called us in the middle of the 2nd night of our stay, they called the 2nd number we provided and asked for us by full name. The caller stated that police were investigating a car break in, they wanted to interview us and search our hotel room, to assure we weren't involved, as the vehicle had guns and drugs. The caller asked for me by full name and confirmed our room number at the hotel. Only the front office staff had that information, including the number they called us on. We reacted and called the front desk with the room's landline and asked if police were conducting interviews and they said no. The hotel sent the Head of Security to our room. They knocked on our door and the Head of Security along with their Maintenance Staff minimized the call and stated "it was a little joke" and suggested the airport asks questions and they might have our room number as well. Also the Maintenance Staff and the caller had the same name, it might not have been him but who ever was calling was aware there was someone named Oscar in the hotel's staff. After we spoke to them, we were even more scared because we felt they minimized the seriousness of the call. We decided to leave the hotel room, we started packing but then considered that it was a plan to extort us and realized we should go through our luggage to assure no one came into our room during the day and planted something in our luggage. We unpacked everything to make sure and repacked our luggage. We literally escaped our room and hid in our friends room for the rest of the sleepless night. We barricaded the room with furniture and we all left the hotel room in the morning. We didn't even feel safe notifying the front office staff, we just had our driver pick us up and take us to knew hotel that we booked directly through the hotel chain. As we had previously used Expedia. The scam is that they instill fear, make you believe you are in trouble, and you're going get arrested. Once you're scared, they extort you for money by saying "well we can make this go away if you pay this X amount of money". It's usually thousands of dollars. The hotel staff definitely obtained and released our information. They had access to that secondary phone number that I provided at check-in only, it wasn't listed on the Expedia account, they knew our room number, and they knew we spoke Spanish. This experience was traumatic to say the least!

Great place to stay in the middle of town. The hotel is like being in the US. They have all the amenities and it's clean.

2 of our night were booked with our travel company. We stayed one night then went on our tour 5 days later we were back from our tour and spent our second night. We extended our stay by 4 days to do more of Mexico City. I made the extension months in advance with Susana Salazar. When we checked in I paid our extra four nights. Location was great for walking or taking a bike to most things we wanted to see. When things were further away we got Ubers. I think driving in Mexico City would be exhausting and nerve wracking. We were always greeted leaving and coming back to the hotel. Staff was friendly. Our room was clean and made up every day but one when we purposely left the do not disturb sign up. The building we were told was a 300 year old Monastery. It was very nice and the stained glass ceiling beautiful. We were on the 5th floor. All but one night it was very quite. Toward the end of our stay someone with zero curtesy must have checked in. Doors slamming constantly at the end of the hall. One night our phone in the room rang like 3 or 4 times. My husband picked it up each time. As far as he could tell it was a spam call trying to sell something. After that we just unplugged the phone. I found the laundry room and it was free. I washed a load of whites and a load of darks. Fishers on the roof was great. Service and food was wonderful. The restaurant downstairs attached to the hotel was also very good. Really the only reason for 4 stars not 5. The morning we were leaving for the airport at 6am, we were told we had one more night that wasn't paid for. They charged us for the second night that was paid for by our travel company. I tried to get the young man to understand that. It just didn't work. We paid and got in the cab. Breakfast was decent, not great. They always had some weird options. One other thing I found interesting. When I went down stairs to buy water and snacks nothing was rang up. They just told me a total. I had correct pesos so I paid, no receipt, went back upstairs. I wondered if that was totally on the level.

Love this hotel! It was close to el Zocalo like two blocks away close. I love the security at the door greeting us every time. Made my wife and I feel comfortable especially traveling with our little ones and parents. They offer taxi service if you want to go to any destinations nearby. Works well if you have a large group like we did. Better than packing a small Uber. Breakfast every day was nice, ask for tortillas they don't have them out. And unlimited refills on your cafe de Olla (my favorite). Would definitely stay here again. They clean as often as you'd like or not up to you.

Please read review! Safety concern at this hotel! The front office employees at the Hampton Inn-Centro Historico used our friend's personal check-in information to try and extort them in the middle of the night (second night of our stay). The callers had information only the employees would have access to. The callers said they wanted to interview them regarding an issue downstairs with a car, stating it had drugs and guns. The callers purposely stated our friend's full name and room number to intimate them. Think about getting a call like this in the middle of the night, in a different county and not knowing who you can trust (obviously not hotel staff) or who to ask for help. Our friends ended up going to our hotel room that night as all we can think to do that night was to stay all together until the next morning. The hotel you stay in during your vacation should be your safe space and we did NOT feel safe here!! We left the hotel next morning and checked in to a different one. Also, very disappointed in this booking company for not taking our complaint in a serious matter when we feared for our lives.

I would like to start this review by saying, I never thought this could happen, but it did. We booked the Hampton Inn & Suites Mexico City - Centro Historico Located on Calle 5. Our trip was 4 days and 3 nights at the hotel with our family members. Our family members stayed in a different room and floor in the hotel. Our first day started off great, we had an issue with our room and the hotel staff took care of it pretty quickly. The hotel itself was older and exactly what we were expecting being in the historic district of Mexico City. Our second night is where everything changed for the worse. Our family members received a call from a random number, the persons on the line were stating that they were the front desk at the hotel and they had a Sargent from the Mexican Army on the line. The Sargent got on the phone and stated that a car was broken into in the parking garage and there were drugs and guns found. That the Sargent needed to go to their room and search it. The Sargent also knew the names, room numbers, and more personal information that only the hotel had. Luckily our family member called the front desk and told them what was happening, while still on the phone with "the Sargent" and the front desk said they would send the head of security up to their room. The head of security for the hotel and front desk personnel went to our family members room and dismissed it as if it was a joke. They said "it was probably someone messing around", no it wasn't someone messing around. The caller had information that only the Hotel front desk had! Meaning our information got leaked to people who wanted to come up to the room and portray they were a military argent to get money out of us! The head of security stated that the hotel was safe and that they had a front door that only accessible through a key card. I went outside to make sure the door was closed, and it was wide open! Our family members quickly got their belongings and came up to our room. Scared and not being able to contact anyone for help in a different country and just feeling helpless, is how we felt the rest of the night. Not being able to sleep because we were worried someone was going to come into our room! We used a couch to block the door for safety. Once daylight came, we called our uber driver and he came to pick us up and take us to a safer hotel. We explained to him what occurred and he couldn't believe it, but also agreed that it was someone in the hotel leaking out the information to extort money out of us! We spent the rest of our trip worried, scared and sleepless, because of what happened. The thoughts that went through our head were horrible not knowing what other personal information they had from us. That night completely ruined our trip. We saved up so much money to have a great time and all gone in one night. Not only did we loose those nights in the Hampton Inn, we also paid for a tour that had to be cancelled and not refunded. Also, we still paid for the new hotel we stayed at. I want to make it known that we did nothing to have this provoked or make us stand out. We don't have flashy clothes, nor jewelry, we never came to the hotel drunk, nothing to make us stand out of the ordinary people staying there. I am disappointed that the Expedia and Hampton do not want to take action on this. I hope this review isn't removed and people get to see this and are informed before booking your nights here. I would not want this experience to happen to anyone else!

Delightful location. Hotel staff are warm and welcoming. Edgar the Concierge was amazingly helpful. Rooms are clean and quiet. Heads up some face the central courtyard but I was perfectly content. Security entrance - I would feel safe traveling as a woman alone. The area feels as safe as any decent neighborhood in a very large city. Consider me very satisfied!

I was here for a week on a rare business trip. While this might not be the best "business" setting, as my co-worker and I did experience quite a bit of traffic getting in and out of the city, for me it was a PERFECT mix of business and "pleasure!" (Ummmmmm, did that sound more "suggestive" than it needed to sound?!?) For me the hustle and bustle (to put it mildly) of Mexico's main square El Zocalo is something I'll NEVER get tired of... I've never stayed more than a block or two away; my last stay here was in a hotel right on the main square, and this time, we were also tucked away just a block or two from the CORAZON of this wonderful, crazy city!! Wonderful setting, great service at the front desk, comfortable room w/all the amenities, flawless wifi, and an AWESOME breakfast buffet. Plenty of nearby dining, shopping, and touring options. Don't miss the BEAUTIFUL roof terrace, where (I was told) you can have food and drinks sent up from the neighboring restaurant. Also great spot for city pics @ sunset. Great choice for business or pleasure!! You'll find it ALL in the Zocalo area!!

I had the pleasure on staying at this Hampton Inn when my son and I attended the Mexican F1 grandprix. This location is right dead smack in the middle of CDMX. There are a lot of things to do that you can walk to. There's a historic cathedral which is very beautiful. There are also a lot of food places to eat which were very good. If you decide to stay here, it better not to have a rental vehicle. I'm not really sure where you would park the car. The building is very rustic on the outside but modern in the inside. The staff greets you and are very attentive. The best thing is that they speak and understand english. The rooms are very modern and the rooms are cleaned everyday. The AC can get better, my personal preference is on the cooler side. The breakfast is ok but definitely convenient. The thing that made me only give it 4 stars is because its so dam noisy every 8am at this area. I know they cant help with all the outside noise. But sound proofing the windows and the balcony doors would help a little bit. I did not need a wake up call when I stayed here. O yea while I'm requesting things, a pool would be very nice as well. :D
