Beautiful property nestled in a quiet tree-lined street in Polanco. PROS: Front desk staff is amazingly responsive. Shout out to Edgar who will do anything for you. Food at the restaurant is surprisingly delicious and the environment is beautiful. Pizzas and the Caesar salad are standouts. Bed linens are amazingly cozy. CONS: Housekeeping. While the room was clean, there were several missteps. Our bed linens weren’t changed for three days and probably would never have been if we didn’t call it to their attention. Coffee pods were never replenished until we called it to their attention. Towels were threadbare. Our empty bottle of shower gel was replaced with shampoo. So we had two shampoos and no soap. The bathroom was so small and oddly configured that you couldn’t walk in normally. We had to side-step into it and only one at a time. Further, there was practically no counter space to lay out our lotions and cosmetics. Also, with one exception, the waitstaff in the restaurant were dour and devoid of personality. The continental breakfast took forever to arrive.

Stayed at this hotel and was very unhappy with the room. It was way too small, they had literally shoved two beds in there that made it impossible for my husband and I to maneuver around each other. The bathroom was small, and it was incredibly noisy. The rooms are very close to the check in counter and kitchen. They all start very early in the morning and the sound of the employees talking, laughing, and kitchen staff is very loud even in the rooms upstairs. We were supposed to stay four nights but ended up leaving after the second night. They didn’t offer discount or reinstatement for our room. Only for our son’s room, they gave them two nights reimbursement. The staff was extremely nice and friendly but management didn’t offer much to keep us happy or to stay. The location of the hotel is good but I still don’t recommend this place if you like it quiet and roomy.
In response, we were never given future credit opportunity and the hotel only give credit to our son for two nights because his room was on the first floor. The hotel management never responded in a way that they would want to keep us as future guests!!

Orchid house is a nice quaint boutique hotel in a great location (Polanco) walking distance to many restaurants, bars and shopping. The hotel in itself has small but nice rooms and nice decor (orchids everywhere). The breakfast is really nice with a good area to sit. Also, the hotel was kind enough to pack some breakfast for us and deliver it the night before for 2 days when we were going to have early mornings (and miss breakfast).

One complaint on the rooms however is the walls are thin and its easy to hear people outside. Our room in particular was close to the kitchen and very noisy early morning - not great for light sleepers. Also, the room has an odd shape with a couple of steps going to the bathroom (where I nearly tripped) and the wash basin is in the room as opposed to the bathroom.

One last complaint I do have unfortunately is that we had $300 cash go missing on the last day - This was a day we also had a person barge into the room while we were inside (which was a bit weird and they did apologize after). As I only came for a short 3 day trip, did not use any of my cash and the only place I left my bag unattended was in the room, this was an unfortunate occurrence. Might have been careless on my part to leave the bag in the room but this incident left a bad taste in the mouth.

I would not recommend staying at this hotel during a trip to CDMX. Unfortunately, our experience here was very disappointing. The rooms are extremely small—my parents kept bumping into each other just trying to get in and out of the bathroom. Our room was also unbearably loud, as it was located next to the kitchen. We were also woken up multiple times throughout the night and early morning by noise from other guests.

We didn’t want to leave this review and tried giving the manager a chance to address our concerns by offering a refund or switching our rooms, but they were unwilling to help. It’s unfortunate because the hotel staff is incredibly kind, and this is not their fault. The problem lies with the property itself: the rooms are too cramped, the walls are very thin, and overall, the property seems poorly managed.

Ultimately, we had to cut our stay short and switch to another hotel. I cannot recommend this property if you're looking for a comfortable and restful stay.

UPDATE: we were offered a much more decent room upon bringing it to their attention. A young man named Alex was very kind and attentive and solved our concerns. Thank you Alex!
Overpriced. The room offered was tiny, barely one person could fit comfortably, and then the second room offered to us was right next to the kitchen and at 6am you could hear all the noise from the kitchen and the music the cooks were playing. The shower does not have a door and the whole floor gets wet. There's very little space to set one's things in the room. I expected much better rooms for the price paid.
