The Zoa Hotel completely exceeded our expectations for our honeymoon!
The food, drinks and atmosphere of both the pool and room were just top notch. We also enjoyed the evening turnover service. It helped keep things tidy in our room with all our belongings.
Soloman and his helpful staff were able to accommodate any request we had quickly and efficiently via WhatsApp (please note that this is the main form of communication for most businesses in Mexico, if you are unaware and expecting traditional front desk assistance). They were all so welcoming and kind.
Is there occasional bug, yes… nothing to be alarmed about. Reminder you are situated near the ocean and nature… that is to be expected. There are also friendly cats that come to your suite, and the occasional bird pecking at the roof… but you are in literal paradise and these types of things were least of our concerns. Every day we would watch whales from the pool with some great mescal cocktail. It is an absolutely beautiful property, and the perfect place to unwind for some peace and relaxing ambiance, with a tasty and big selection of food/drinks paired with great service. My only suggestion for food would to be more vegan options, so we could eat more at the hotel - but we had no problem finding those options within walking distance.

Please note that there are a lot of stairs up to the hotel and on the property, so if you have mobility issues that is the only concern I would raise to people looking to book this place. The stairs helped keep us fit and relieve the guilt from over indulging :) Otherwise it’s pretty much near perfection.

Terrible service! Do not come to this stuck-up property. We made a reservation for dinner through the official WhatsApp channel and whoever is in charge of concierge failed to inform the night staff of our arrival. Instead of having us wait at the bar or inside the restaurant while they verified our reservation (which was their fault for not writing it down) they treated us as if we were lying to them and we wanted to trick them into letting us in their hotel. After an eternity they let us in and we arrived to a desolate restaurant with not a single other table. How on earth did it take them so long to verify our reservation when we were the only ones arriving that night!? Why did they have to be so rude? No one apologized for the inconvenience, it’s obvious no one in this hotel cares about customer service. If you want to be treated like trash this hotel is for you, otherwise don’t bother.

Zoa hotel has branded itself as a “luxury” hotel - thus being by far the most expensive hotel in the area. The word “luxury” had absolutely nothing to do with our stay.
Where do I start - the poor service? We had to ask for our towels to be changed, and when we did, it didn’t happen unless we asked again and again.
How about the fact that NOTHING is included? We were provided with 1 filtered water bottle a day - other than that - everything requires additional payment. I took a (not-very-good) yoga class only to find out that the place next door charges much less - aren’t guests in a “luxury” hotel supposed to get a good deal? This place does everything it can to make an extra dollar at their guests expense.
How about waking up to ants biting me in my bed? Screams luxury. None of the doors actually close properly, so expect some luxury bugs on the house.
I could go on forever - but I’ve saved the best for last
The toilet door - what a masterpiece - you honestly have to see it to believe it - it’s about a meter tall - like a door in a western movie - that just flaps and doesn’t do anything. My partner and I were on our honeymoon - so romantic having to take turns in leaving the room anytime either of us needed to go to the bathroom.

Another thing i wanted to mention was the very impersonal service - the manager Solomon didn’t seem to care about anything we asked for, and was extremely rude when we had the audacity to ask to close our bill 15 mins earlier than expected.
The front desk was always empty and in order to get in we needed to shout our room number into an intercom every time. When paying this much i would hope/ expect the front desk not to have to ask me for identification 4-5 times a day.
This place has no respect for its customers and puts no effort into creating a personal and memorable experience.

Zoa hotel is an absolute scam. Do yourselves a favour and find something much cheaper and much better - Mazunte is full of alternatives.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Zoa Hotel in Mazunte, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The room view is even better than seen on pictures, truly something that you just have to see in person. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the service provided by Salomon, Victor, and the entire team. Their attentiveness and hospitality truly made our visit unforgettable.

From the moment we arrived, the team went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Salomon was so great and helped me arranged a beautiful private dinner for me and my partner, 4x4 rental for us, which was delivered directly to the hotel, and even organized a taxi to take us straight to the airport for our departure. These thoughtful touches made our trip incredibly seamless and stress-free.

The food and drinks at Zoa Hotel were nothing short of amazing. Every meal was a delight, with a diverse menu that showcased the best of local and international flavors. Whether enjoying breakfast or a cocktail by the pool, the quality and taste of the offerings were consistently outstanding.

Overall, Zoa Hotel stands out for its exceptional service, delicious cuisine, breathtaking views and attention to detail. If you’re looking for a top-notch experience in Mazunte, I highly recommend this hotel. Will 100% be coming back here!

The site of the hotel is glorious with amazing views around the grounds and from the room.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful including the general manager whom you are able to message for any request.

The room was excellent, it felt clean and safe however the fan made weird noises and the air conditioning leaked. They tried to fix it immediately as soon as the issue was raised but we’re unable to fix the problem.

Despite the staff being friendly and welcoming, the service itself was lacking. There were plenty of staff around but we felt we had to seek out their attention. More attentiveness would have been nice especially in the restaurant and at the pool when ordering food or drinks.

The food at the restaurant was ok - overpriced compared to other options around town. We thought our mains were delicious but both my girlfriend and I got upset stomachs 6-12 hours after dinner.

If I could split the actual hotel from the restaurant I would have given it a higher rating. Overall I felt harsh to give it 3 stars but generous to give it 4. I believe it falls somewhere in the middle.
