I'll make this one very simple and to the point. If you don't go to Du Mexique, you're missing out. A lot. Sonya is the owner, Benjamin is the chef. They make you feel more at home than your grandma ever could or will. Ben is originally from France and combines local flavors with classic French cusine. This is especially evident in the fois gras which is served on a tostada with jalapeño infused raspberry jam. You can't make this stuff up. The rabbit dish comes with a layer of carrot purée on top. Rabbit and carrot. Genius. I can go on and on but don't just take my word for it, go visit Ben and Sonya. I promise you won't regret it.

My girlfriend and I went here on Monday night and had a very memorable evening experience thanks to Sonya and Alain Grimond who invite you into their restaurant where every detail will please your senses; fresh flowers, art, music, food, wine that is a pleasure to the eyes, palate, and brings you into their world. A night we will never forget and hugs and kisses from the Grimond's to end your night with them. Muy Bueno!!!

This restaurant is a wonderful little find. Greeted by the chef when we walked in the door, was just a start to a wonderful evening. The chef is from France and cooks daily with what he finds at the market of the day. The chefs wife was our waitress. The salad was delicious... Creme brûlée outstanding. I would go back again, and again!!!

An amazing and unforgettable dinner!! I celebrated my 30th Birthday here. It was the perfect dinner. The moment we arrived Sonja and Benjamin treated us like family, we felt like we were in their home and we were their special guests. We shared the cheese soufflé, the escargot, the fish, and the beef. Everything was amazing. We enjoyed our dinner while their pianist played. If you are a foodie then this is a must try while in Cancun. One of the best meals of my life!

4 stars = exceeded my expectations. Enjoyed our 21st anniversary dinner here a couple of weeks ago. We made a somewhat foolish assumption that since the peak season was mostly over that we would not need a reservation for a Wednesday night. Du Mexique was very accommodating and managed to squeeze us in. What a wonderful experience. This place IS small and, because of that, it is exclusive. You almost feel as if you are personal guests of the chef. Our food was great and beautifully presented. Most of the restaurant was occupied by some kind of work gathering? A large table for ~12 or 14 took up most of the place. About 1 hour into our experience one of their party disappeared for ~20 minutes and returned with a 7 member mariachi band that he was a member of. They serenaded their table and the rest of the restaurant for over 30 minutes. Very intimate and it made our evening that much more special and interesting. I would definitely dine here again if and when we return. I suggest that you do the same.

Best restaurant in Cancun!! Mexican ingredients and flavors in the hands of a classically trained chef. This restaurant does everything right,from the personal service to the menu explained directly by the chef. To all the foodies who find themselves in Cancun..here is your place!! The foie gras appetizer -if available is a must try..as well as the beef tamale. At times I wanted to lick the plate. A kin to an authentic Mexican restaurant in NYC,where the competition is fierce- Du Mexique would take top honors.

To my mind this is he best restaurant in Cancun. It's tiny and you get personal attention of the chef and owner. The decor is beautiful and the food amazing. The fusion of French and Mexican cuisine is just amazing. Everything we eat was fabulous.

How do you say, I would make a special trip to Cancun for this restaurant in Spanish??? I don't know and I don't care. This place was fantastic and I can't wait to go back. Concierge at the Westin Lagunamar recommended it, It's near old Cancun and a $12-15 cab ride from the Hotel Zone, but it worth it. There is seating for maybe 18-20 people, the restaurant is clearly a house and the dining room is the main room in the house. I didn't realize how lucky we were to get a reservation at short notice. The owner greeting us at the door, and seated us promptly. The wine list was well balanced and had quite a few gems all at reasonable prices for restaurants, had a wonderful Pauilliac that I have never tried before. Sonja, the owner, and such a lovely person, kept apologizing for her lack of English. We did find some (actually very little due to my being very rusty) common ground in French, but Benjamin the chef came out and explained the menu. Lots of locally sourced ingredients, French flair and techniques with Mexican foods. It sounded awesome. There was a cheese soufflé to start, which was good but just didn't feel right as a starter. For entrees, there was a rack of lamb and mushroom ravioli. The atmosphere is very quiet, one reason is you can't really enjoy great food while talking at the same time, and this was great food. The lamb was the consistency of butter and so flavorful it knocked your socks off. The ravioli was unlike any I've ever had and was bursting with flavors on so many levels. But as good as the food was, the service was better. The entire meal we felt like we at a small dinner party in someone's house. I've never felt so welcome in any restaurant ever. It was not inexpensive but this was incredible and for the value for the price was spectacular. If you are in Cancun, do whatever you can to eat here. I will definitely be back next year.

Everything here was perfect! the couple who owns it are very attentive and sweet. The food was likely the most flavorful and delicious I have ever had. Every dish looked like art. You can tell they are very proud of their work and they should be. Wonderful experience.
