I've been wanting to try this place out, I ordered the catfish, corn and fries box originally. Customer service is good, they're very laid back. The catfish is made fresh to order which takes a little bit of time but the wait wasn't horrible. The fish was hot but just alright. The Cajun corn was just straight corn out of the can but I got it replaced with greens which were very tasty! The portion size is VERY tiny though for the price. The fries are frozen shoestring fries but the seasoning was very tasty! I want to try the chicken wings if they still have them whenever I come back to the Pizitz but no rush to get back.

I went to the Pizitz Food Hall on the quest for hot wings. When I arrived, I found out the wing restaurant located in the Pizitz had permanently closed. Luckily, I noticed Broad Street had a limited time menu that included wings! These wings were SO good. They were served hot and fresh and full of flavor. My were fresh, too. This was my first time eating at Broad Street, but it's not my last. I saw so many other things on the menu I wanted to try! While I was getting my food, somebody was getting the catfish and it looked delicious.

this place is located inside of the pizitz food hall and has some of the best chicken wings in the city, and the fries are also really good! i can't wait to come back and try out their po boys and fried catfish. i will say the price is a little steep for the food that they offer, and also expect a long wait. overall, i would highly recommend it to anyone spending their lunch break here.

Like many food trucks who eventually find a more permanent home, Broad Street Peaux Boys is no different and now has a home in the Pizitz Food Hall in downtown Birmingham. Occupying the space previously used by Spoon and Ladle, Broad Street is next to Uno Tacos and across from J Wings. A native of New Orleans, Kelli Caulfield was raised in Birmingham and never forget her fondness for New Orleans food and culture. So much so that she started a New Orleans themed sno-ball "truck" called NOLA Ice in 2011. Six years later, she added another venture to her resume and started the Broad Street Peaux Boy food truck. It's success has now lead to this location in the Pizitz Food Hall. By the way, I love the clever spin on the spelling and pronunciation of "poboy" to "peaux boy". Unlike Walk-On's or Pappadeauxs, the menu at Broad Street Peaux Boys is short and delectable. It has the basics such as chicken and sausage gumbo, red beans and rice and chicken and sausage pasta jambalaya (or pasta-laya). This menu also has some changes from their food truck menu, but their peauxboys are basically the same. Broad St is proud of their "overstuffed" peauxboys as advertised on their menu and website. All their peauxboys are "dressed" with lettuce, tomato and pickle on french bread and served with your choice of chips or cajun fries with one additional side of dirty rice, cajun corn, or collard greens. Their choices of Peauxboys include: The Parkway is their classic fried shrimp, catfish peauxboy. The Hot Boy is a lemon pepper "hot" catfish on french bread. If you like your catfish blackened and covered with their remoulade sauce, try the Parkway. The Cassie is their classic fried shrimp but tossed in hot buffalo sauce then topped with blue cheese crumbles and ranch on french bread. Finally the Hollet is a peauxboy made with roast beef in their special au-jus sauce. Beyond Peaux Boys, they have what they call Broad St Boxes which include Shrimp Box, Catfish Box, and a Catfish n Shrimp Box. There's even a Broad St Salad Box which can be served with your choice of catfish or shrimp. These are also served with a choice of sides and hushpuppies. Studying their menu, I had planned on trying the gumbo, red beans and rice, and a shrimp peaux boy. Unfortunately that didn't work out as planned because when I arrived, the kitchen was shutting down. They were closing early due to impending storms. Although most everything was already put away, the last employee there felt sorry for me and offered to cook some simplified boxes for me. I couldn't say no so I got a shrimp box and a catfish box. Both only had cajun fries. The catfish and shrimp were both fried in the same "fish fry" powder. The catfish filet was a nice size and fried perfectly. The batter wasn't thick but just enough to seal in the oil and juices of the catfish. The catfish was oh so good. Yom Yom Yom. It wasn't too salty or overly covered in a thick batter... just the way I like it. The fries were on par and complimented the catfish and shrimp. The shrimp box had about 8 large shrimp that were also fried to perfection. With the same delicious light "crust" that meets your taste buds first, you then taste the inviting shrimp underneath. I'm quite sure that the shrimp that's used in their peaux boy will be cooked the same way so I'm trying to imagine how these shrimp would taste sandwiched between their french bread and dressed with tomatoes, lettuce and pickle with possibly mayo or remoulade sauce. It was torture trying to imagine that so that's why I'm definitely returning. I'm not a big roast beef peauxboy kindaguy, but I may even try the Hollet. If you fancy sno-balls, feast your eyes on all the different flavors that NOLA Ice has to offer right under the same roof. Also owned by Caulfied, it made sense for NOLA Ice to also be there next to Broad St Peaux Boys to tickle your taste buds. Broad St Peaux Boy may not be a big place, but they have big flavors. Nothing fancy about their silverware or dishes since everything is served in disposable containers, but their food is cooked fresh and to perfection. Don't forget that they still have a food truck and they cater. Welcome to the Pizitz Food Hall, Broad St Peaux Boys!

Short version: 4 stars for the food, 0 stars for the service, which averages to 2 stars overall. Long version: 6 of us walked to Pizitz for lunch. We were on a time crunch, because a couple of my group needed to be back by 12:15. I picked Broad Street Peaux Boys, the other 5 chose different places. When I ordered the New Orleans Pasta, the cashier, never making eye contact because he was too busy looking around at what else was going on mumbled, "we don't have that anymore." So I backtracked and ordered the Shrimp Box, which includes fries, and collard greens, to go. (Since I didn't know where my group would end up, I ordered it to go just in case we went back to the office.) Cashier never told me my order amount or spoke another word, just entered it into the register and kept looking around, handed me the receipt, then walked away. Order time on the receipt showed 11:41 a.m. There were 3 other customers standing by waiting on their orders and I joined in behind them. Cashier guy left which left one woman cooking everything. After a few minutes, I realized she was cooking one order at a time. I understand "made to order" and that usually means better quality, but I guess I thought you could cook more than one customer's fries at a time. What do I know. Anyway, after 20 minutes, I looked over and the other 5 of my group decided to "dine in" by sitting in the food court and they're over halfway finished eating and I still haven't even gotten my food. It's after 12 noon by this point. I was glad I ordered my food to go, so assuming I got it within the next 30 minutes, I could easily take it back to the office. The glacier-moving food preparer fixed the customer's food ahead of me and handed it to her on a tray and the customer said, "I ordered it to go." She took it off the tray and put it in a box for her. Then she began preparing my order. After 30+ minutes of waiting total, I was finally getting my food... then I noticed she's putting it on a tray, just like she did for the previous customer. I said, "I ordered it to go." She became visibly annoyed and began snatching a box and putting my food in it. I said, "I'm sorry - it was on the receipt that I wanted it to go." She never said a word, just boxed it up as if she was extremely aggravated, then handed it to me. The food was good - large fried shrimp and crispy fries, collard greens in a small cup. But it wasn't $22 good (food, drink + tip total). I would've been happy to pay half that, especially for the service I got. But lesson learned: next time we go back to Pzitz, I'll follow my coworkers to other choices for lunch and skip Broad Street Peaux Boys.

Drove all the way from Pelham yesterday just for a roast beef po-boy, which they have on their online menu. Being from NOLA, you can not get those here or a decent snoball, so we were excited. We both asked for the RB beef PB and were told very nonchalantly, "we don't have that". Not an, "I'm sorry, we're out, or "I'm sorry, we don't serve that anymore". Just a very unapologetic "we don't have that". Were they out of the ingredients or they don't serve them anymore?? If it's the latter, then why is it on your menu on your website. Being very disappointed, we walked away and walked around the food court, as this was our first time there. We went back to the window and asked for snowballs, and then we were told they had no ice to make snowballs. Really?? You have a snowball business, yet have no ice??!! This was 1:00 PM and they are open until 8:00. How can you have no ice?? Needless to say, we will not be back....ever!! They would have had a repeat customer in us. First impressions are everything!

The food took a while because there was so much demand, but I had a po'boy with catfish and shrimp, and both were juicy and perfectly cooked and seasoned. The Cajun fries were crispy with great flavored too. The sandwich was a little bit greasy, but overall enjoyable and great quality.

Stopped here for lunch and wasn't sure what to get so I asked the lady at the register to pick something for me and It was a shrimp po boy, It was fully loaded with shrimp and fresh and warm. It was really good and the corn had a sweetness to it, it was really good. I would definitely recommend this place next time you are downtown

For $15, I think the portion size was fine. They had a line and food was cooked fresh to order. I just felt it wasn't seasoned enough and the po'boy was just bland and greasy. Cajun corn had absolutely no flavor and tasted like boiled corn with no seasoning. Fries were fine. May I just didn't get the right thing. However, I have to say the sandwich was stuffed with a lot of shrimp and the shrimp were good sized. Flavor just didn't do it for me.

Quick friendly service inside the Pizitz Food Hall. I had the Parkway Peaux Boy with fried shrimp. They fried the shrimp to order. everything was fresh and well seasoned. I had the red beans and rice as well as the greens for my sides. Both were great. Lively space and plenty of parking.
