Disappointed -Over priced for what you get -To gain access to the house, you drive down a narrow alley to the back entry gate. Parking is tight. -A historical house from the post antebellum time frame. -Everyone is given the code to the cipher lock on the front door. You come and go as you please without needing to interact with anyone to open the door. You are sent the code in an email. At one point, my phone died and I couldn't remember the code. There is no reception desk, so there was no one inside to assist me gaining access. I had to go to a restaurant to charge my phone enough to retrieve the code. It will be a good idea to write the code down and keep it with youwhen you leave in case you forget it or your phone dies. Key cards for the front door and the rooms work much better. But then, there would need to be someone there to issue the cards. I was the only one on the second floor when I arrived (6 rooms). I was assigned room 6. -Shower is inside of a claw footted bath tub. Instead of putting up shower curtains with the oval rods, they used straight rods. The curtains continuously rub against your skin when you're trying to shower. I hate for the curtains to touch me when I shower. You're having whatever was on the last guest getting onto your skin. Oval rods help hold the curtains away from the person showering and is an inexpensive fix. -The description on the website indicate there is an iron and ironing board in the room. I had to go from room to room looking for the iron and board. I finally found one in the furnace room down the hall. - The room was less than appealing. No closet in either of the two bedrooms. I had to fold my suit coat and pants and lay them on the table after ironing them. -The only thing separating the two bedrooms was a sheer curtain. The beds are very low to the floor. When you open the curtain to the second bedroom it gives the illusion that you need to step down into the room. However, this illusion is created because the bed is so low to the floor, it appears you need to step down into the room. -There was no key card for the front door. You use the cipher lock to gain entry. There was an actual key that they leave in the bedrooms door lock for you. -The TV has 2 remotes. One for the TV, the other for the ROKU. When you turn on the TV then the ROKU, there is a long wait for the ROKU to turn the app/channel selections on. An impatient person would turn the TV off thinking nothing works. There is at least a 45 second to 1 minute delay before anything shows up on the TV. - The advertisement indicates there is a breakfast in the Common area. I was informed after I booked that there was no food offered. -I had no idea that customer service was not 24 hours. I called the mansions number around 10 PM and was rudely communicated to for having the nerve to call and disturb her so late complaining about my room. I was told that I could stay or go find someplace else to stay and they would work something out to see how much I would get back in a refund. Let's talk about customer service. From the advertisement of breakfast being served and then finding out there is no food at all, to the rudeness of the representative, it is clear they are only in business to make the money. That's a shame for such a historical place. -I was in town alone for a relatives funeral service. I wanted to check out this place to see if it could be someplace my wife and I could stay when she came to town with me. Needless to say, there is no way I would bring my wife here. It is ghostly at night walking down the hallways. -A good note is that the room was clean, though antiquated. The bed was comfortable, however, the TV was mounted on the wall that runs diagonally with the bed and it is not on a swivel to turn it so you can watch TV from the bed. If you want to watch TV from the bed, you would need to lay sideways across the bed, near the middle of the bed. -Disappointed. I was looking forward to staying here.

What a find!!!! This place is such a gem! Sheila the hostess was very gracious and provided excellent customer service. The mansion itself is beautiful and beautifully decorated. When we arrived we were provided snacks and beverages. Sheila also permits you to view unoccupied rooms which was so much fun, exploring and seeing how other rooms were decorated. Each room has a different theme. A beautiful breakfast is served in the morning. Thanks Shiela for a wonderful time, your home is beautiful!!

This was the last stop on my cross country drive and I am so happy to say that it ended on a positive note. The owner kept in contact with me during the day to inform me of the check in process and how to get into the house. I struggled a bit to figure out how to actually find the parking area because I kept passing the ally where you need to try, so don't make that mistake. The house is beautiful and has tons of fun décor throughout. Since I had a ton of stuff with me I had booked the room on the ground floor. I thought it might be noisy but it wasn't whatsoever. There were snacks and drinks available and my room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was really good as well. I will be brining my husband back here soon!

amazing location, amazing mansion, the renovations and decorations are amazing, every room has its own theme with beautiful antiques and you have a great view of the vulcan from the patio, my mom and i stayed here on our roadtrip and had an amazing time, the break fast is great!!

Where do I start we booked the B&B for our 22nd wedding anniversary trip upon arrival we were greeted with the most warm and loving welcome from Sheila (owner) and we're offered right away snacks and refreshments. We were given a tour and history of the B&B. We felt at home right away. We stayed the night of the 4th and 5th of July. The 4th Sheila provided BBQ from a local restaurant it was superb along with great fellowship and watching of the fireworks from the wrap around porch. We had breakfast the morning of the 5th and 6th made fresh every morning with the choice of coffee/tea or a beverage of your choice out of the fridge. My husband is a soda drinker (his form of coffee). We met new friends and exchanged stories about life, travel and more. This is the first time we've ever stayed at a B&B and what an AMAZING experience. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway with a smile and a welcoming atmosphere look no further. You will not be disappointed you will be looking at your calendar and planning your next trip back to the B&B.

This may end up being a regular stopping off point for us in our travels from the New Orleans area to our son's in Kentucky! Lovely Victorian setting, very well run, excellent good! If you want atmosphere AND a homey setting stay here. They were, also, completely compliant and conscientious about COVID-19 matters.

We made a reservation a month in advance and corresponded back and forth with Sheila the owner/manager about bringing our 7 year old granddaughter. Her response was, " of course she is welcome, any grandchild of yours would be very polite and well behaved I'm sure". We thought no more about it and showed up Saturday evening 3-5-22, bags in hand and Sheila proceeds to tell us our granddaughter can't stay and tried to pretend like she had no knowledge of her coming. We showed her our emails with her and her response was, " WE, must of had a misunderstanding!!" The only misunderstanding was, if I wasn't clear enough that after staying with her several times over the past 7 year that we would never be back! This was just a horrible experience for our granddaughters first bed and breakfast trip!

Had a lovely stay here. It was such a beautiful room and experience. Sheila the owner was very kind and we joined her and other guests in the morning for a great breakfast. The location is perfect and very central to dining in Birmingham

I absolutely love this place and the hostess. I've stayed at four bed and breakfast and this was by far the nicest. The neighborhood that surrounds the Hassinger Daniel is amazing with beautiful old churches, gorgeous mansions and nice restaurants. The innkeeper was extremely nice and welcoming. The mansion is gorgeous on the outside and elegant and a bit eccentric on the inside. We stayed in the Vulcan suite, which I thought was star trek themed (star fleet insignia resemblance above the bed). However, the suite is named for the view of the Vulcan statue from the bedroom window. All the rooms are unique and wonderfully decorated. I will gladly stay at this BB when back in Birmingham.

We were coming to Birmingham for a concert at UAB and found this B & B online. Not only was it close to UAB, it was near a lot of good restaurants. The booking and check-in process was easy, and we thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay at Shelia's beautiful home. The restoration of the mansion was extraordinary. Be sure to check out the photo album in the front foyer to see what condition the mansion was in before the restoration. It was an amazing journey from then to now. Shelia is a delightful host and provided a wonderful breakfast around a beautifully set table. Our conversation with her and with other guests was a perfect way to spend a morning. We highly recommend Hassinger Daniels Mansion Bed and Breakfast.
