Down and gritty is what comes to mind when you walk into a place like this. It's all about the meat! And the meat is good. I had the small pork plate with greens and baked beans. The greens were good and the baked beans were average. The pork was good, a little dry, but nothing BBQ sauce won't fix. The star of the show was the Brunswick stew. It was delicious. Chicken and pork and vegetables in a savory base. If you like local small town places that have preserved their charm, you are at the right place!

On this day and a last minute idea I decided to pick up 3 slabs or ribs from Miss Myra's Pit BBQ, unfortunately I was disappointed. I am a fan of Miss Myra's this is why I was little shocked with their ribs. This was my first rib order and I was really surprised how little meat was on the ribs. I liked the caramelized sauce taste, however the charcoal tasting burned areas and the lack of meat wasn't what I expected. The desserts, my normal Thanksgiving and Christmas options are always excellent. They have my favorite Coconut pie and Banana Pudding. But, we need a good meal in front of this. I suggest chicken quarters with the Alabama white sauce and smoked sausage. When ribs cost $25 a slab anywhere you buy them should be something you want to return to buys again. I will continue to get my favorites from Miss Myra's but, done with their ribs.

Came here for dinner on a Friday evening. Plenty of available tables and not much wait time to order. I knew I wanted to try the classic Alabama white sauce when I was planning my trip to Birmingham and this spot was recommended to me by a few different lists. I'm usually not a huge mayo person so I was a little skeptical I'd enjoy the white sauce, but I liked it more than I was expecting to! You usually don't think chicken for bbq, but I do agree with the recommendations that the white sauce goes really well on it. It has a good tang to it, it reminded me of ranch but with the consistency of a traditional vinegar based bbq sauce. I'd stick this bbq style firmly in the B tier, would have again if presented with the opportunity, but probably won't seek it out again Sides were nothing too special, baked beans were pretty sweet and the deviled eggs were on the lower end of what you'd expect for a traditional feeling southern spot Overall I think this is a good place to check out if you find yourself in Birmingham and want to give the white sauce a try and get a feel for a more "authentic" bbq experience

Heard great things. So disappointed. This was not just bad, it was terrible. Tried ribs, beans, a pork sandwich & banana pudding. Dry Ribs, used the microwave to warm some of my food, stale bun on pork sandwich... banana pudding had been heated??? This cannot be representative of what made them famous. What is going on???

If you love the smell of bbq, this place is intoxicating. It smells so good! I love the smoked chicken, and especially the thigh and leg (dark meat) plate. The chicken is so tender it falls off the bone, and is very flavorful. Sauce is not necessary, but Miss Myra's white sauce is legendary. The white sauce is made with Mayonnaise, white vinegar, salt and pepper. If you have never tried white sauce, try it on their smoked chicken. It is fabulous! Service is great, The staff are long -time employees who take pride in cooking and serving authentic wood-smoked BBQ.

This place is a hidden gem that more people need to know about. It's a hidden location in the Cahaba Heights area, and if you're a BBQ fanatic like myself, then I advise you to visit this location. One can really tell the staff is seasoned and enjoy being there which is nice and the prices are very reasonable. PS, the service is also very quick.

Went to get some smoked chicken sandwiches. The staff ignored me for about 10 minutes, preferring to jaw with locals or whiners instead. The perfunctory attention I did get was very brusque to the point of being rude, and they got my to-go order wrong. The 3 (were supposed to be 4) sandwiches were inedible dry white meat. The sauce was gross - I like white sauce, but this had a funk to it that I could not figure out - maybe just old? I had asked for chips but they argued with me that the Golden Flake factory was closed so there were no chips. So we got fries, which were soggy before we left the store. I had high hopes for this, given its inclusion on Andrew Zimmern's show. But like his enthusiastic review of Nikki's West, it was waaaay off the mark.

Been hearing about this restaurant for a long time and how good the food is. So, I ended up coming here after leaving the Summit. Once you open your car door, you literally get hit with the pit smoke in your face and from there, I knew I was in for a treat. The ordering process was simple which I ended up getting a bbq rib plate with turnip greens and potato salad. The container itself was heavy which made me more excited to eat once I get home. Once I started eating, my excitement for the food went down. The ribs didn't have no type of flavor like rub seasoning and both of the side items were bland. For the price, I was expecting a it factor on the food.
