During the summer of 2022, the Picante family enjoyed a road trip from Southern California all the way to Key West, Florida... And then back home via Omaha and Colorado. In addition to a dozen different campsites, we stayed in seven different hotels. This was our least favorite. Notably positive: the front desk lady was very nice and helpful, the morning breakfast staff was kind and sweet to my kids, and parking my truck and trailer was a breeze. After a long day in the truck from Savannah, GA, we pulled in weary from camping and driving through some pretty good storms. We had booked the room on AAA several weeks ago, and to be honest, we were disappointed to see that it was a hotel with external doors. Not sure of why there's a pattern, but this always spells disaster for us. Once the nice young lady at the front desk got us our room keys, we made the short walk to the highway facing room, open the door, and were punched in the face by the smell of mildew and whatever the opposite of "non-smoking room" is. A certain amount of funky can be tolerated for a one night only stay, but this was too much for me, even with a CPAP. I went back up to the front desk, explained the dilemma, and again, and I was young lady offered us a different room on the other, quieter side of the hotel. To be honest, that room smell wasn't much better, but it wasn't as bad. The young lady explained they had just washed the carpets, trying to explain the odor. I just nodded and smiled, and wondered to myself, what the hell did it smell like before they washed them? Maybe clean the water in the carpet shampooer... or add shampoo? I don't know. The rest of our stay was rather uneventful. Other than the funky carpet, and the ghosts of countless packs of Marlboros, Camels, Pall Mall, Parliaments, and God knows what else, The place was marginally clean: Bug free, older but seemingly clean linens, tiny bathroom with the shower/toilet behind the door and the sink outside in the room, mildewy shower curtain, and a working TV, refrigerator, and air conditioner. Bedspread and carpet patterns camouflage spills to some degree, but not entirely. Mrs. Picante enjoys exercising in workout rooms after sitting in the car for several hours, or barring that, taking a run around the neighborhood. There was no treadmill in the small workout room, so off she ran down the Highway and luckily found a sports complex up the hill somewhere. Morning breakfast was interesting-- key card guarded to keep out non-guests maybe?-- and it was more like eating at someone's house than at a roadside motel. Beverages and several items were in pitchers instead of commercial packaging/containers. Still, the staff member was friendly and our yogurts, cereal, and other usual free-breakfast fare was adequately matched with the price (freeeee...) It seems this place got hit by a tornado in recent memory, and they had to rebuild. One of the support beams on the front of the hotel was still severely damaged looking, right near the office. Call me to think of it, that was another good reason to move from that room right under it. Left early in the morning, and haven't talked about it with anyone until now. Our family has stayed in worse hotels and motels over the years, but not on this trip. I suppose in a pinch I could sleep here for another night, but I can't say I would plan to stay here again without some upgrades. Truly, I can't say enough about the nice people who work here... 5 star service, in a 2 star facility.

This motel has the most asinine policy of not refunding cash deposits until 10am. So I get up at 530 shower and go to leave at 6am... NOPE!!!! WE ARE HOLDING YOUR DEPOSIT UNTIL THE CLEANERS GET HERE AT 9, THEN THEY CAN CHECK THE ROOM. So I assume they keep a lot of deposits from people who have a life to live... me I'd be damned if they kept mine! I guess they have issues of people off the street eating there too! You actually need a room key to get into the breakfast nook... which is directly in front of the front desk! Sure as hell will never stay again. Side note my room was clean.

This is a clean, quiet place to crash for the night. No frills but the staff was friendly, hot breakfast was provided, cost was low, and it was close to the interstate. The extremely comfortable mattress was a bonus!

Pretty decent room for the price. King size for $89.98 and got $9 military discount. Nothing fancy but clean and friendly service. Very nice staff.

If I could give 0 stars I would. The front desk clerk Alicia was very rude and lazy. I called to confirm that days inn allows "pets" Alicia says yes there is a 25 dollar pet fee. I check in go to my room and 30 minutes later I am being called by Alicia because someone told her I have 2 dogs. She never made the pet policy clear then lied to her manager saying that I said I only had 1 pet. She tried to kick us out even though we were already checked in. Then argued with me on the phone while hanging up to call her manager twice. I offered to pay 2 pet fees but she stated that 1 pet per room and that I would need to get another room for the night. I told her no and that I would rather just get a refund. She hung up on me again to call her manager then magically he was okay with us paying 2 pet fees. Worst experience I've had at a motel.

If I could give zero stars I would. We arrived and the front clerk was gone for 20 minutes. We got into our room, the bathroom door would not shut due to the floor being too high. The room smelled like smoke. Then we pull down the bed sheets and we found bodily fluids on the sheets with pubic hairs. When asked to get a new room, the second room was in similar condition with stains all over the sheets. Hotel manager refuses to refund money even though we left and did not stay because he states "We used a hand towel in the bathroom, and therefore he does not owe us money." Yes we used a towel to wash our hands after what we found in the sheets. This hotel is not sanitary and should not be used by families. Very disgusting.

Yikes. Room and lobby had an odor of smoke combined with garbage. Front desk attendant, an elderly Southern woman, was more intent on the Ice Cube movie on USA than on assisting us with check-in. Then the fun part: exterior corridors on a dark road off the main highway toured us past assorted cracked-out and/or drunk motel patrons hanging out of their rooms to really add to the vibe of the place. Really. I wish I were kidding. The room was missing a lock on the door but did have iffy bedding, filthy floors, the television zip-tied to the wall, and remnants of cockroaches in the bathroom and sink area. We practically sprinted back out and checked into another hotel the next exit up. Hotwire be damned. It was "Joy Ride" meets the Bates Motel, only without Paul Walker or a genius Hitchcockian storyline. I wish I were exaggerating this review... it would've at least been funny, had we not had our three-year-old with us. Instead, it felt dirty and extremely unsafe, particularly for families or female travelers.
