It's a cute hotel but it definitely could use some updates. The customer service was impeccable.

Check in was easy, great location. The fitness center is another story. A storage room!!! Don't advertise a fitness center if you don't have one.

Don't stay here 1. No air conditioning in the rest of the building. Only in the room. 2. When we requested extra towels, I had to go pick them up from the front desk every day. They refused to bring them to our room. 3. Our chief complaint is that they don't service rooms daily even though there is a clear sign in the bathroom stating that sheets and towels are changed daily unless specifically asked NOT to.When asked why our room was not serviced, we were told that the policy was to do so every other day unless we asked for it at breakfast. I explained that my dad was in ICU at the hospital and I was not able to be at breakfast. The clerk said she was making a note in the system for our room to be serviced since I could not request it in person each morning. Still, our room was not serviced. The same exchange happened for 2 more days and our room was still not serviced despite the repeated requests and "notes" being made in the system. It is not too much to expect a basic level of service at a hotel--clean sheets and towels every day. We were under severe stress dealing with a close family member's health crisis and simply wanted a clean place to shower and rest when we took breaks from caring for our dad. The unacceptable service we received at LaQuinta Homewood added more stress to our long days at the hospital and motivated our decision to check out 4 days early. We relocated to another hotel for the remainder of our stay.

Just stayed here and beyond pleasantly surprised. Staff were so kind. The place was really, really nice for the price point. We were just driving thru town and did not want to spend a fortune. The problem is most hotels charge a very high per fee. This pet fee was $25 for the one night and the rate was great. Very price friendly. We were coming from North Carolina so we were concerned if the neighbor was safe but it was a beautiful neighbor, close to lots of restaraunts and the cute town of Homewood. The lobby and our room was meticulously clean. The bed was a nice tempurpedic with lots of comfy pillows ( cruddy pillows are my pet peeve at hotels). It had a courtyard swimming pool. The breakfast was minimal but there were 3 strengths of coffee that were great ( not watered down). The breakfast had great eggs, breads, pastries, bagels, and fruit, cereal and milk all with the accompaniments properly chilled and super clean. This is one of the best value hotels we have ever stayed in ( and that is saying a lot). We travel ALOT and we are not spring chickens. We stay in many long term rentals in a year that require us to get to many, many hotels in route to our destination. Great job management, clean well kept hotel with nice amenities. The shower even had multi use body soap, shampoo, conditioner that are great Dove products that smell amazing and beat those tiny single use shampoo/ creme rinses at bigger hotels. I feel La Quinta is doing their part to keep plastics out of the environment. Great hotel!

Just stayed at LaQuinta. Room was fine. Very clean. Ask for cleaning if you wish it while you are there. Security was good. Quiet area. Breakfast was fine. Ran out of eggs one day. Outside needed a clean up. Recent storms had not been cleaned up. Pool closed till after Memorial day. Staff was good. Gymn is being rebuilt with new equipment. Great diners nearby.

I and my wife originally stayed and were impressed with the room several years ago. They allow pets! Big plus for us. The room quality has gotten worse except the few the have remodeled. The room we had this last time had a worn out RV king sized mattress on a frame that was bigger than the mattress. The fridge was in a cabinet that was too small. The microwave barely worked. I couldn't put in 45 seconds. I got 4 minutes. The breakfast served is sad and should not be considered if staying here. They lack gluten free breakfast options too. Location is great several food options close by. Walmart close by too. Quiet area close to the interstate. If you get a good room. Good place to stay.

Room was nice and clean. However, for what it costs per night to stay, you would think you would at least be granted the courtesy of a warm shower. The shower has a lock/block that only allows it to turn a certain amount. My teeth were chattering the whole time.

Literally the worst hotel I've ever stayed at, I'd give 0 stars if I could. Granted I'm used to either 4-5 star hotels in California or resorts when I travel but this was bad even by motel standards. I had no intention of being in Birmingham as long as I was so needed another place to stay. My husband went on Priceline and for whatever reason this hotel was marked as a 4 star. We get here and the receptionist isn't that friendly but the lobby is nice which gave me high hopes for the room. The room itself was freezing cold when we got in. Things were either broken, cracked, or lopsided. The volume for the TV didn't work, there was no trash in the bathroom, the floors and walls were dirty, the shower curtain didn't work; and neither did the vent so it turned into a sauna when you'd shower. There was also food left in the fridge. I recommend staying here if you truly have no other place to go. Luckily for me I was only here a night.

Let me start with the positive. The lady that checked us in when we arrived late was so very nice and friendly. Our room was clean upon arrival. The rest of our stay was down hill from there. Let's begin... Where to begin... let's start with the room walls are paper thin. You hear EVERYTHING!! Trying to sleep at 1130 at night and we hear people down the hall hootin and hollerin and we could hear their tv INSIDE our room. Also the door isn't completely sealed as you could see light coming from the hall all the way around it. The bathroom sink glugged all night as if it was playing the bongos and you could hear others flushing toilets. They cleaning service never came to the room to clean and make up beds the next day. That in itself was the most disappointing part. The breakfast is nothing to write home about. Cereal, bagels, muffins, and juice and tea. I didn't see not one items of protein at all. I've stayed in a lot of La Quintas and generally choose them bc their beds are comfortable and they're clean and friendly. This one was the absolute biggest let down ever.

Decent. Had the basics like a bed and bathroom. Nothing fancy. Their Brightside Breakfasts is not worth it. Hard boiled eggs, cereals that appeal to kids, waffle maker, muffins and fruit. Coffee and oj. Right off the highway. Friendly staff. Hotel was old. Elevators were placed at the end of the long confusing hallway.
