ve always been a big fan of Ono Poke, and today, we grabbed dinner at the Oxmoor location. Not many people were inside, so naturally, all of the workers were on their phones. Unfortunately, it's not the most reassuring to watch someone scroll on their phone and then immediately handle food (without hand washing after). We both built our own bowls, and it was the perfect amount. One of the bowls we ordered was missing 2 toppings, so we had to ask at the counter for a side of those toppings. The food tasted amazing; I always really enjoy what I order here. They started putting up chairs at 7:30, but they close at 8. I felt a bit rushed out. I never want to stay past my welcome, and I always try to be wary of ordering too close to a restaurant's closing time. I understand wanting to get home, but people were still eating inside. This location seems to be predominantly run by high school students, so maybe my expectations are a bit too high. The Poke is so good that I'm willing to look past other shortcomings, if you will.

Simple and clean. Super easy to order. Yummy menu options that fit any diet. We had a birthday meal here at my kid's request. Great food!

When I tell you this place is SO GOOD! Let's talk: 1. Atmosphere: the first thing you notice about a restaurant is the cleanliness and being a bartender myself, I pay extra attention. So walking in and seeing a spotless floor, clean tables, chairs, counters, etc. was an immediate green flag. There wasn't a crumb, sesame seed, or wrapper anywhere. Moving on to the actual vibe, it's so cute! A greenery wall with an LED sign is on the right and a cool mural wraps around the left to the front with pictures and even definitions for words and phrases you'd hear in Hawaii. The staff they have are super nice and knowledgeable, answering every question thrown at them with a smile and serving food insanely quick. It is a smaller storefront so there is limited seating and its counter serve so they run your food out to you (just a heads up if that's not the route you're looking for). 2. Food: Uh, YUM?! They have bowls you can choose from or they have build your own bowls that provide endless possibilities. I'm an Ahi Tuna fanatic so I opt for that in a rice bowl and a plethora of toppings. When I say you can actually TASTE the freshness, it's to die for. Like I'm actually obsessed with how crisp the veggies are, sweet the fruit is, and how delectably the tuna melts in your mouth. I took one bite and thought I was in Oahu for a minute (sadly I'm still in Alabama, oh well!). My son also loved his shrimp and crab on rice. But don't worry! They have chicken if that is more palatable for you. Only downside was they don't offer a kids portion for anything other than chicken but I promise you, that wasn't a complaint of mine for long once my son absolutely obliterated his meal (the fact that y'all made something so good that my six year old ate every bite impressed the heck out of me!). 3. Price: AFFORDABLE AS HELL. I expect to spend $45+ on us to eat stuff this good at a counter service place. After tip we didn't even spend $38. With endless toppings??? Dude, y'all have made a regular out of me. Seriously y'all, if you haven't tried this place: RUN DONT WALK. It's phenomenal!!!

The poke bowls are fantastic, great flavor and fresh ingredients. I'm really glad I've found this place and had no idea Birmingham had this one of a kind spot more native to Hawaii and the west coast. I had the ahi tuna bowl for my first visit with the sweet sauce and build your own ingredients. I especially liked the pineapple and cucumber. The only negative was it seemed to be several high school workers on the job who were less than enthused to be working. The soda machine was flat so I asked to have it changed and it took them about 10 minutes to get it fixed, nearly when our meals were finished. First world problems right. I'll be back for sure but maybe to get it to-go from now on.

This place never disappoints and the food is always amazing!! The best poke bowls I have ever had! Every time I visit Birmingham, I have to stop here for sure! We love the reg poke bowl (16oz) $11.25 crunch bowl with white rice, cucumber, edamame, pineapple, tuna, crab, scallion, crunch, tabuk, spicy aioli and samurai sauce. We also get the large crunch poke bowl (24oz) $14.25. It's always super fresh and they use great quality items. You must eat here!

Poke please I love a good poke bowl, especially when I'm looking for a lighter meal option, and Ono is my go-to. The Homewood location has such cute decor, especially the mural and huge neon sign. My fav is the crunch bowl and I usually get a large so that I can have seconds a little later. The Ono fries are also delish, they're flavorful on their own but I love dipping them in the sauce. I typically stop by for lunch and even with a steady flow of customers I'm usually in and out within 15 minutes. They're also really quick when I order delivery!

ALEO-HA! Poke Bowls are a brand new concept for me. I have always heard of them, but had never been before. The Ono Poke has clearly got it going on. With their third location just now opening they are clearly doing something right. Ono Poke for those who do not know translates to delicious. Ono - which means delicious and poke - which means to cut or slice. So merging those two words together the phrase would mean delicious cut. This makes a lot of sense in the aspect of the different types of fish you are able to put onto your bowl. I had come here last night with a friend of mine. When planning our outting we both had realized neither of us have ever tried poke bowls before but we're excited to try something different and new. I think a lot of the Birmingham yelp elite squad is missing the events. So what I try to do in the mean time is go out and get dinner with friends so we can try something new. Not having the events is really hard, but being able to do this on my own world too, at least for the time being. This Ono Poke is one of the bigger locations. I believe that this is the first location (Homewood), then came the pizitz and now the new location at the summit. When you walk inside there is a lot of Hawaiian decor. From a huge map of Hawaii to the neon signs and other wall decor. Lots of tables and space to roam around inside. However there is a pretty large hallway you need to walk through before getting to the counter to order. I feel as though they could have done something else with that space. It feels incomplete. This is why I have to give a four star review. But this review has nothing to do with the food or people, it is just the incompleteness of the inside. From the time I ordered, filled up my drink cup and sat down my food was already dropped off at my table. It reminded me of how fast the people who work at Jimmy Johns work. Very thing is done lightning fast. I ordered the Crunch Bowl. After looking over the menu and knowing I had never had a poke bowl before, I decided in sticking with something on the safer side. For the bowls you are allowed to pick your size, base and protein. I went with a regular bowl, white rice, and raw salmon. I have never had tuna and did not want to risk not liking it if I ordered it. So salmon was my safe option. All of the ingredients worked so well together. Overall, I am happy I finally got the chance to try a poke bowl. I would love to come back and try more items off their menu. It seems like they also do a lot of online and delivery too which is great for when you want to eat out, but don't want to go out. Have you tried Ono poke yet?

This was my first time having a poke bowl and it was delicious! In fact it was the most satisfying meal I've had in a long time. Imagine a deconstructed sushi roll. I look forward to visiting the Summit location soon too! I had a lava bowl and I added spicy tuna. I am a fan of spicy food and usually when I order spicy sushi it isn't very spicy to me, but this has a kick to it. The spice level wasn't overwhelming though.

Plentiful portions, chunky sashimi, yummy sauce - what more can you ask for in a poke bowl? We were first timers here and for some reason, I expected to see what I call a "Subway style" layout (clear case for customers to choose from), but the store had just a simple storefront with all the food prep happening behind the counter. Not that it made a difference really though - I called in my order anyway. I also liked that they were willing to let me get sauce on the side! Next time I'm in town and it is safe to do so, I would love to eat in - they have a cute interior with a highlight grass wall lettered with "instagramable" neon light. I didn't think this would be this disappointing, but I guess it factored quite a bit into my overall rating - I do wish that they asked me what I wanted for my base. We live a bit far and like to save leftovers, but a rice base hardens in the fridge so we prefer salad. I forgot to mention my preference during the order but a reminder would have been nice...

We ate here with our son's family recently. I was impressed that both his kids liked the food, they picked out simple things for their bowls, but ate them like they were candy. I went with an Ahi Tuna bowl that was just super. I added seaweed, which is something that I just love. You pick a protean and then get unlimited toppings, sauces, etc. on top of that. The regular bowl was just right for each of us. The rice was nicely done. The meats were fresh and high quality. They give generous portions too. It was a perfect lunch and is a real change from the typical lunch fair... I wish we had one here in Anderson SC. When I'm back in Alabama visiting the grandkids, I'm going to lobby for another trip to the Ono Poke.
