I came here to watch Hamilton on a weekday as I was in town and staying nearby. The concert hall isn't that big compared to other theaters in Chicago but performance was great. Restroom: The lines get really long during intermission so if you get out there late, you may miss part of the show/musical. The water fountain near the women's restroom doesn't work well and there will be a line for the water fountain near the men's restroom because it works. :( small inconveniences here..

I've been to multiple events here, and every seat from front to nose bleeds has a clear view of the stage. During before and during intermission there are drinks and light bites available. I like that it's downtown where a lot of my favorite restaurants are, so I make an evening of it, getting dressed up etc... During the summer there are beautiful flowers in the park, usually accompanied by a dude playing a guitar. Will come again.

Surprised by the negative reviews for the Atwood. Anchorage is lucky to have a theater this nice! This is the largest venue in the Alaska Center (for the performing arts). I usually go here at least once a year for the December Arctic Entries. Acoustics are great, getting in-and-out is easy, there aren't many bad seats in the house. The space is beautifully maintained (probably partially because no food or drink besides water is allowed inside) and ushers are always friendly.

Jersey Boys Granted I like upbeat when I pay for entertainment . If I wanted high drama or scripts that are avant-garde (whatever that means) I would go back to work. Jersey Boys was engaging, heart warming, heartbreaking, pure enjoyable entertainment. I am headed for NYC next week for a week of Broadway and this was a great warm up. Without realizing it your head is wrapped up in the story. The talent could double for the original group and does the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame proud. The absolute worst that can be said is the speaking parts were hard to separate out from background noise. But I finally tuned in and my mother and her friend turned up their hearing aids so it all balanced out. Pure enjoyment and at a bargain price to boot. We get such value out of the PAC. Just go and enjoy.

Saw The Sound of Music here recently (along w many other things over the years now). While the actors and singing were superb, the place itself leaves much to be desired. First, why did they build the inside of the rows into a sort of wall - it makes it really difficult to exit from more than one side without a very tight squeeze. Additionally, there's not enough bathrooms or bars - the wait for both took more than intermission and I felt us having to slam our drinks just to run back into the theater. I wish they'd allow pre show (even online?!) ordering of drinks and laid them out for folks or something - seen that done successfully before to keep the lines more manageable. Lastly, I didn't realize it was a singalong night... and despite being mid orchestra section seats, it hurt my neck to be looking up so much (good thing I knew most of the words). I'm kinda on the fence if I'd go back at this point... the venue has just a few too many inconveniences... :/

Although I still stand by my review dated March 5, 2019, I can easily put in a 5 star review for this place only because as compared with other cities we are very fortunate to have it here, particularly the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts where this hall is located. This is the largest in the center and has the capacity to hold 2100 people in the seats. We purchase tickets mainly for the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra events, Anchorage Concert Chorus, and Silent Film Nights, along with the occasional Anchorage Concert Association events. There really isn't a bad seat here, as long as you avoid the first row in the mezzanine and balcony due to the close walls, which would certainly be uncomfortable for a tall person especially. Being longtime parishioners of Holy Family Cathedral, with the church being within walking distance, we truly enjoy the convenience to able to come here and enjoy the show.

Saw David Sedaris here on 5/13/17. Super easy walk from our hotel (as in pretty much anything in downtown Anchorage), didn't feel crowded or stuffy even though it was a full house. Good acoustics and it looked like most seats had a clear view of the stage. If I lived in the area, I'd definitely be back for more events!
