It’s been a little over a year since we’ve dined at Clever Koi and we won’t be waiting that long to come back. We tried a few new menu items and a few of the CK staples. The Krazy fries are a MUST. They were packed with flavor and so crispy. The steamed buns are a classic, along with the pork belly ramen! We also enjoyed the chow mein with Karaage chicken and it was delicious. Also you can’t miss their happy hour cocktails! (4-6pm)

We can’t believe it took us so long to find this place! Great atmosphere & our server was excellent.

Ordered the hot chicken, pork belly, & soft shell crab steamed buns to start. Phenomenal flavors & the best steamed buns we’ve ever had.

The Katsu chicken sandwich w/ Thai salad was delightful & each bite was so flavorful I didn’t want it to end.

We’ll definitely be coming back here again!

Sophisticated dining experience with a clever menu! Food was attractive and delicious. Highlights were the lettuce wraps and beautifully plated mushroom appetizers. Fried calamari was tender and lightly flavored. Pork ramen soup was good with yummy chewy noodles & plenty of broth in a huge bowl. Wait staff was professional and helpful. Restrooms were clean & tidy. A bit pricey, but overall a fun & relaxed dining experience for our special occasion meal!

Second time to this restaurant, enjoyed our dinner here. We’re ordered Pork Ramen and XO noodles .

Our waitress was attentive and welcoming. She taking care of us and make our dinner enjoyable.

The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. One of our place to go in Downtown Gilbert.

Enjoyed the excellent short rib dumplings which had a very nice acid forward broth with pickled onions and cilantro: made for an excellent bite.  I managed to make it through about a third of my order of  kimchi ramen (it was a large portion!) which had a wonderful rich broth that was spicy without being an exercise in fire-mouth. The kimchi added a brightness to the dish that I really appreciated; it tasted like it was made in-house and I’d like to buy some! Speaking of which, they have two varieties of house made sriracha that I’m going to try out on my next visit (which staff informed me was for sale in 8oz bottles).

Clever Koi, established in 2013, is an Asian-inspired kitchen and craft cocktail bar with locations in Central Phoenix and downtown Gilbert. The Gilbert location opened in 2016 and faced a significant kitchen fire in August 2019, leading to a temporary closure. After extensive repairs, the restaurant reopened in October 2020, resuming its role as a vibrant dining destination in the Heritage District.

An ever-evolving menu of steamed buns, house-made dumplings, progressive noodle dishes, and small plates reflecting flavors and techniques from regions such as Thailand, Korea, China, Vietnam, Japan, and Indo-China.
