I had this meal rice and tabanga I think that's what it's called it's a real fine thin chopped steak with onions and carrots omg this was so good it had a sauce on it. I thought that was the best meal I've had all my life. I give it a thumbs up.

Ehhhh this place isn't what i thought it was going to be. Really small hole in the wall joint. All i got was a sandwich which was slightly over priced for the quality. Not really spaces for you to park either, just kind of get in where you fit in. The area was kind of sketchy so be alert when around this place.

I'm going through a bit of an obsessive phase with all-American East coast diners lately. Why? Always everything made in-house, Always totally affordable, and Always satisfying portions and service. Overlea Deli is off the beaten path, but there is a private parking lot outside and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. I always see the same 2-3 women working front-of-house, and I always see the owner/chef/cook through the small window counter that connects the dining space and kitchen. I have tried a number of their menu items here, but usually stick with something from the breakfast menu. There's often nothing more satisfying than a 2-3 egg breakfast platter with eggs cooked to your liking, home fries/hash browns, toast (always get white toast buttered!) and choice of protein (bacon, sausage, turkey bacon, scrapple...). I've never been disappointed. They keep the coffee coming and fresh/hot too, which is absolutely a staple in diners like this one. My only issue is with their decaf coffee, which always seems to taste so much worse than the regular coffee. Not entirely sure why, and I'm one of those people who usually can't tell the difference between Pepsi and Coca-Cola... but I can really tell the difference between Caffeinated vs. Decaf here. Oh well... They have a decent sized lunch/dinner menu as well (but about half the size of the big chain diners in this area, like Double T Diners). But one of my most favorite things in the world of sandwiches and cold salads = EGG SALAD. So, when I was last here, I decided to try their egg salad, which can be a huge no-no most times. Yes, be wary of ordering egg salad anywhere because it is very easily spoiled and very easily messed up... But not here! I don't know if it was a one-time thing, but the egg salad kind of blew my mind. It was barely seasoned, but it was perfect the way it was. The eggs were freshly boiled, cooled, seasoned, mashed up, and then served. Or so it seemed! A lot of people add a lot of salt/pepper, dill (dry or fresh), minced celery, etc. Egg salad has so many variations. I adore dill. I adore celery. I love them in my egg salad too. But Overlea Diner just made the egg salad super simply with just the eggs, maybe a smidge of mayo, and many a dash of salt. Then, piled high on perfect white bread with some crisp green lettuce... sliced and served. Sorry about love affair rant about this egg salad sandwich, but it totally made my foodie day. Next time, I'll try something new again!
