Wow one of the best innovative Mexican places I've eaten at, a little spin and twist on everything and done tastefully.

The sort of Mexican you could introduce to anyone. Fresh, bright flavours, plenty of vegetables, awesome space. The kitchen is so cool, they cook everything over charcoal and you taste the difference in the food.

Might be my new favorite restaurant in the east bay!

deep, rich spicy oil confit style carrots and large tender beans (chips dipped in this worked so well, wish I could take the oil mix home in a bottle w/ me), truly succulent in every sense of the word & unique pork & squash/chard/pecan mole, fresh trout tostadas that felt crisp and refreshing, plus a well baked beet w/ whipped pumpkin seed citrusy cream crunch (great contrast of flavors)

The Condesa Martini (a flowery evenly sweet gin martini) & pomegranate marg were so well balanced & tasty that we had to order more ;)

Will continue to go back here and see where Cher Dominica takes us !

Before even sitting down, I’d heard alot of amazing things about Bombera. It’s been on several must try list in the Bay Area. I must say, this was a place I definitely didn’t need to try. In my opinion, it just wasn’t good. My dinner companion really enjoyed it but the meal fell completely flat for me. A lot of spice but no flavor from each three dishes I tried. It’s just too expensive to be that average.

We grabbed a reservation right at five when they open. We were seated next to the open kitchen. Chef welcomed us from her station and I saw her call out greetings to others as they were seated. The patio is also lovely but I enjoyed being close to the action. That’s how I got a shot of the cardamom cake cooling. The vibe was informal, friendly, and joyful. The service and food were excellente!

The food was authentic Mexican - I know because I’m from there. The prices are a bit high for my liking because the majority of the plates consist of rice and beans. The cocktails stood out as eclectic and bold. The mezcal has a very strong and smokey taste that cleanses the pallet and just makes you feel warm all over. The only reason it doesn’t get a 5-star is that we were placed in the small room in the back past the restrooms. I believe that place is mainly used for private parties but it was a Saturday night and super busy so they were seating some reservations back there. We felt a little excluded from the vibes of the restaurant and the service was a little lacking since we were separate from the kitchen and staff. The wobbly plastic tables were also a turn-off since they were charging $35 for one plate. In recap the food was good, the drinks were excellent, and the restaurant was beautiful but a shame we missed out on the atmosphere. Will probably go back only for a special occasion.
