# Out of the Barrel – Craft Beer Haven in San Jose, CA

4.5 stars. The Tuesday trivia at 7 pm is really good since it's homemade and not by a large company (Headgames, etc.) Arrive early to get a spot cuz it's so crowded. The speakers kinda suck if you're in the very back it's too hard to hear. Decent beer selection - lots of Togo cans and a good tap list on draft. The Argentinian pizza was super cheesy but the crust was good. The food options are limited to pizza or empanadas.

Generally speaking, not a fan of breweries. Basically a bar but you're only limited to odd-tasting beers? Why not goto a normal bar right? However the selection, location, and vibe here are different than most breweries. #1, most breweries take an overwhelming liberal/progressive stance on their decor when we're all just trying to enjoy a beer. This place keeps it simple. #2, selection tastes quite good. Many breweries I will order a flight and will probably enjoy only 1 or 2 out of 5 to 6 beers. here, I have yet to order a bad tasting beer. #3 location right in the middle of the pruneyard courtyard. At night there's just amazing lights going everywhere and plenty of decent food options in the area. Service is pretty decent, If you are looking for a chill brewery to catch up with friends and eat food(they're chill with you eating outside food there) then this is a solid spot.

Local libation destination. Look out for liberal loquaciousness and laughter. Great outdoor seating and a chill atmosphere. The service is excellent here and helpful when deciding what beer to try. Always has new and exciting kegs to tap. I highly recommend you try a different beer. A grew place to experiment.

My wife and I love goto the pruneyard for date nights as they have some of the coolest restaurants (Luna, Orchard City Kitchen, ect.) Whenever we goto Luna - there's generally a 20-30+ wait when we arrive so we usually make our way next door to Out of the Barrel for a drink. This place is a small but super cool taproom. There's limited seating inside but the outdoors have plenty of bench and table seating. It's a very friendly and informal environment which makes it very approachable and enjoyable when hanging with great company over a craft beer. Every time I've visited, the bartenders have good and positive energy and will seek you out even through a busy crowd. I used to be an avid beer drinker - primarily IPA's but I have transitioned mainly to wine and whiskey over the last few years. This place sources from independent craft breweries so you'll find some hidden gems that you won't find at your local grocery store. For the wine lovers - while there is a limited selection, I'm just happy that they offer an option for us. They essentially offer one of each type of wine (Pinot noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, ect.) We ordered a bottle of red wine - Cabernet Sauvignon. It was fairly priced and delivered for its priced point. I will point out that red wine typically needs to be stored around 55-65 Fahrenheit. When we got the bottle, the temp felt like it was stored with the beers, just something to note for ownership. Overall, always have a great time here. Perfect place to enjoy company over some drinks and even catch a sports game. They also have craft beer you can purchase to go. Come check this place out!

almost 10 bucks for a 12oz pour dogs allowed on the patio (patio only seating) but sometimes can be lots of them here so it's borky outside food is allowed which is kinda nice

Copy and pasted from the business on Yelp: "Multiple featured breweries, wine, mimosas, cider, kombucha, soda, merch, bottles and cans to-go as well. Outside food is welcome, dogs welcome, 21+ only." Quality/Quantity - 7 coolers of to-go can beers, see picture. 22 beers on tap. Australia Pale Ale - My choice of the two beers. The better of the two today. Movement Amber Ale - This was good, but the Australian Pale Ale won today. Atmosphere - Indoor/outdoor seating. Indoor bar, huge outdoor patio. What do you do in that bathroom? LOL. See picture. Rock bottom brewery is also next door. One unisex bathroom, but the mall bathrooms are right next door also. Open 7 days a week from 11am or noon until 10pm or 11pm. Plenty of mall parking. Service - Counter service. Self service for water. We clear our own tables, etc. Price - $10 + generous tip; especially for self service, LOL. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2016 and with your 4 locations.

We frequently meet up with friends at Out of the Barrel and stay for at least 3 rounds. The outdoor seating fills up quick but generally turns over pretty quickly, depending on the day. We love how dog-friendly OotB is - always meet a new furry friend or bring our own. Staff are always warm and attentive, quick to bus tables and grab glasses. It's great being able to order food from Luna next door and pick up at their window - nothing better than a beer and some chicharrones or a quesadilla. Parking can be a bit chaotic at Pruneyard, so we usually park in the further back lot and walk in - the front lot by TJs gets super backed up. We love the variety of beers on tap and can options. Always a fun and regular stop for us.

This is a great setting outdoors! So many spots to sit. It's more open than the Los Gatos location. Super small space indoors though. You can't bring good here from outside. That day we got guacamole, salsa, and chips from Luna, next door. While it's small space indoors, and crowded, the attendants are fast to get the line moving. I didn't get beer this time but a glass of white wine. The beer selection is really extensive but I was craving wine. Also thanks for keeping the place nice, clean, and tidy outdoors.

1/2 Chill Spot with Great Beer and a Relaxed Vibe Out of the Barrel in Campbell is one of my favorite low-key spots to grab a great beer and unwind. Located downstairs at the Pruneyard next to Luna, it has a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that's perfect whether you're flying solo, on a date, or catching up with friends. The rotating beer selection is always on point, featuring a well-curated mix of local craft beers, unique small-batch brews, and styles for every kind of beer drinker--from crisp lagers to bold IPAs and everything in between. If you're into trying new things, this place is for you. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, and the patio has a great view with a laid-back vibe that makes it easy to hang out for hours. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to make a recommendation if you're not sure what to get. Only reason it's not a full 5 stars is that they don't have a full kitchen--but they do allow outside food, and being right in the Pruneyard means there are plenty of nearby options to bring in. If you're a beer lover in the South Bay, Out of the Barrel is definitely worth checking out. I'll be back soon!
