Absolutely a new favorite lunch spot. Food is delicious and not only feels fresh but flavor is great. On top of that, the ambience is beyond cute and beachy rustic details are everywhere. While it is crowded and usually there's a line, it moves quickly-ish and food comes out super fast. Don't need to go for the coffee, but go for the food and adorable vibe. I've had the verde bowl twice and both times it was phenomenal and portions are large. Love this spot!

I doubt there's a day at Salty Horse where there isn't some sort of line. I'd say avoid on a weekend unless you're ready to wait 30-45 minutes to order. I've come twice now and am consistently impressed with the food and drinks. I love the unique drink options and the fact that you can switch to maple walnut milk with no up-charge (granted the drink is not cheap by any means). My go-to will always be a matcha. I've ordered the salty red breakfast burrito twice now, and it was better the second time since they started serving it with two different sauces on the side. If you're looking for a! aesthetic but also tasty brunch spot in OC, this is definitely the place to go to. Hopefully the hype dies down soon though so it's not as insanely busy.

Talk about popular! Salty Horse (as in seahorse) is constantly being hyped up and raved about. And yes, it really is that crowded all the time. From their gorgeous theme (love the coastal cowboy thing they have going on) to their snap-worthy drinks and bites, this spot always has a long line way out the door. I stopped by midday on a weekday hoping to escape the crowds, but alas, everyone else had also found a way to swing a visit to their favorite cafe. It took a bit of scouting, but I scored a table outside. They have quite a few seating options (some indoors, mostly outdoors), but it's a tight squeeze with the crowd that they garner. Per recommendation, I went with their Honey Bear latte which features espresso, milk, spiced honey, brown sugar, and a cutie teddy graham on top. I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but I'd switch sides for this latte. So. freaking. delicious. I can't wait to come back and grab some of their eats- everything looked wayyy too good. Note: Parking can be hard to come by- it's street parking only.

We decided to give this place a go and waited in line for a whopping hour. Coming at 10am for Sunday brunch of course didn't help with that. Either way, we still wanted to see what the hype was all about. The place was super vibey and aesthetically pleasing. Always love the attention to details when decorating a place. The lady taking our order was very friendly and very patient with all of our substitution requests. I ordered a Cali Burrito ($18) without cheese (yes, I know... I wish I loved cheese too) but unfortunately, it still came with cheese. I didn't feel like bringing it back because we've already waited so long to order our food so I decided to just drench my burrito with all the condiments to avoid the cheesy taste. Overall, it's a cute spot to catch up with friends and with a variety of items to choose from. Just a bummer that my food came out wrong after waiting for over an hour.

Food - breakfast, lunch, brunch! Sandwich, breakfast burritos, matches, coffee, lattes, and a bunch more! Had the "for the wanderer" and the Salty red breakfast burrito with matcha drink and latte. Service - order, get a wooden number, and get your food delivered. This I feel could be improved to make for a faster turnover during busy times with a dedicated runner/bus person to give food and drinks and clean up tables. As is, people eat and leave their wares at the table with nobody picking up after themselves. So self serve but people expect that it gets cleaned up. Understandably so to some extent. Nothing that an added person couldn't fix. Hustle hustle. Verdict - the place is good, the food is good, the cost is little higher than a comparable place, drinks and food. All that said, it most definitely worth a try if you like to line up for a 1 hour stint like we did Sunday noon. Line was too long for food, but food does come out fairly fast if you can find a place to sit on a busy day.

The good - great space, nice menu.... They also have a very interesting pastry case with homemade goodies. The bad.... Coffee is not very good. I grabbed the Cold brew with pumpkin foam and it didn't taste like anything. My coworkers felt the same about their drinks. Very surprising. The space is very nice for a get together with friends and the ambiance is nice and casual. Small parking lot and I ended up parking in the neighborhood. Please come and create your own adventure.

Finally got to see what the hype is all about! Salty Horse is more than your average quick stop coffee shop, it's a place you can stay a while and enjoy a nice meal alongside some seriously craft coffees or teas. We got lucky with the line and seating in the day we arrived. It had just rained so the line was pretty light and after a few minutes of waiting I was able to snag a tabletop. I did appreciate that with the rain, the staff went outside to dry off the tables but since the benches are wood it probably wouldn't have been super comfortable for sitting for a while. I decided to go with the apple jack matcha. It was really yummy! Not too sweet. I came with a group of coworkers for a coworking session and I was a little disappointed that the WiFi seemed to max out pretty quickly. I was able to get online but my colleagues weren't and ended up having to hotspot which is a bummer. Overall, I'm not sure I'll be back again soon. The long lines along are not my thing. But, the speciality coffee menu had a lot of yummy flavors so maybe it would be worth the coming back at an off time?

Did the thing where you wait in line for a hour for a coffee and breakfast burrito. Thought I could hold out on Salty Horse until crowds mellowed out but guess not. After the hour line, a friendly chick took our order and gave us some tips as first timers. I customized the heck out of my coffee and she was patient through it all. Despite the line being long, the food and drinks came out relatively quickly. I had the JH breakfast burrito ($17) and Honey Bear iced latte ($7.50) and really enjoyed both. The breakfast burrito was really tasty and filling; the sauce they give on the side is yummy but not enough. The iced latte hit the spot (post all my customizations), it was the perfect amount of coffee to sweet ratio. Once seated, servers don't typically come by to ask if anything is needed. There is a self-service water and condiments station. Really enjoyed the bohemian oasis vibe. Could see why this place is super popular since it's a content creators dream. Will head back some day in the far future.
