We had a lovely date night at Bavel and a wonderful experience overall! Our favorite dishes were the hummus, mushroom kebab, and nougat ice cream bar. The lamb shawarma was a little oily but was still very delicious and not gamey at all.

Our server, Nicole, was absolutely phenomenal and numerous staffers periodically checked on us throughout the dinner. We really appreciated the staff’s excellent service and attentiveness.

This place was phenomenal! We sat at the bar and were helped by (I believe her name was) Maddy. She had extensive knowledge of both the food and beverage menus. We had someone with us who had dietary restrictions and Maddy made notes all over her menu to help. The food was super delicious (we got a good amount of appetizers and entrees), I especially liked the whipped feta. If you like a strong cocktail, I had a few too many Abaddons (a special take on a gin martini). I will definitely return!

Babel was fantastic, even rivaling Bestia, their other restaurant. You can see the fire from the oven when you walk in, and the live plants falling from the ceiling really set the vibe. We enjoyed every single menu item we ordered, including the drinks. The oxtail was the best I’ve ever had, and the rice had the perfect balance of crunch. Feta carrots and duck hummus and olives made the perfect appetizer combo. The rack of lamb was so juicy and full.😭

Been meaning to come here for a long time and was not disappointed.  Everything was expertly crafted and every detail seemed to be thought out. Our favorites were the duck hummus and the crayfish. The lamb neck shawarma could have fed 4 people, and was so decadent.  Definitely coming back!

Bavel has been on my must-try list here in LA for a while now. The food is truly exceptional; you simply cannot go wrong ordering anything on the menu. Definitely get the zucchini blossoms, shawarma, babaghanoush. The pita is extremely well done.

The downsides are service + ambience. When I initially arrived, the hostess was quite diffident. Gave me a menu and said someone will take my drink order as I stood waiting in the heat. Why couldn’t they just tell me to wait by the bar where it is shaded? They then seated us outside, even when I had requested an inside table on the reservation. And the table backed up real closely to other patrons. I think service has become such a rarity in newer establishments. I get it. It’s busy on a Tuesday night, but the real lack of hospitality just didn’t sit right with me.

Our main waiter was decent and attentive, thankfully. That initial experience still set the tone of the meal for me though. Looking forward to a better service experience next time.
