Incredible little hidden gem tucked away by the library. Parking is accessible. Entrance is a little hard to access. The front is by the water fountain opposite the town hall. You can enter also through the LG library bookstore. Exhibits are colorful, thoughtfully curated, and interesting. Lots of things to see and learn. Kid tables with crafts, too. Service was exceptional as well!! We will be back!

Admission is free first Sunday of the month, we just had to register in advance. Staff was friendly and helpful when we arrived. There's a wonderful art gallery on the main floor, with the winter exhibition including Made of Memory, the work of 5 female artists, Trinh Mai, particularly presenting thought-provoking material that stood out to me, explaining how we can sometimes learn more from a memory than from when we were living out the experience. Holly Lane's Not Enough Time to Love the World portrayed beautiful and unique depictions and interpretations of nature. Birds seemed to be a recurring theme in the various artworks. Downstairs, visitors can explore the History Hall, displaying objects relevant to Los Gatos' past, including old cameras, official wardrobes and uniforms, and a parlor organ. The Collections Lab showcases historical photos and artifacts representing businesses and the community, as well as wildlife, ie. taxidermy, and more. There's also a lounge area on the lower level with comfy seating where we were able to relax and view more art and history displays during our visit. If you like art and/or history, this museum's worth checking out, especially if you're a Los Gatos resident or visit on the first Sunday of the month like we did, as there is no entry fee.

It's true that folks tend to take places close to where they live for granted. Hence my looong overdue visit to my town's museum. It was a wonderful visit. It is small, so temper your expectations appropriately. They do keep changing the exhibits regularly. Now they have art from high school students in the area. These kids are SO talented. They also had mural art by an artist in Atlanta. They have exhibits in the basement showcasing the wonderful history of this beautiful little town. Overall, highly recommend it if you live in the area or visiting the area. Very friendly and helpful staff.

NUMU is a hidden gem in Los Gatos that's absolutely worth a visit--especially for families. We were impressed by the creativity of the artworks, many of which appear to be from local high school students. It's amazing to see such talent and thoughtful expression at that age. Our 9-year-old daughter loved it too, and left with lots of ideas for her own art. The museum is small but well-curated, and downstairs there's a collection of antiques and vintage items that make learning about history fun and interactive. Friendly staff and a calm atmosphere round out the experience. Great way to spend a relaxed, inspiring afternoon.

Pleasantly surprised. Much more interesting than I thought it would be. A great small museum, an asset for the town. I've been to other museums which look like a glorified garage. Not here. Everything is so well presented. The interior of the building modern looking, spacious, clean, and well lit. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Bonus - admission is free if you are a resident. Only criticism is the light reflection off some of the glass/plexiglass cases is very distracting.

In a small corner of the city center complex lies this gem. It is a great place to see thought provoking art and a bit of the history of Los Gatos. Young or old can have some fun in the basement activity center. Make a collage and leave it for others to see or create a poem with the magnetic words.

This museum is in the heart of Los Gatos by the library and High School. It is a smaller museum, but it has history and class! It was great learning about how the land has changed and the indigenous group that occupied it in the past. It was a really unique, fun and creative place. They have an art contest every year for high schoolers and the winning art work is put into a magazine for the community to view. If you would like a momento, they give you a token in exchange for $5 to put through an old cigarette machine. Each knob you pull, you get a unique piece of art work by different artists!

If you have kids in your life and they're into arts and crafts Numu hosts a "Maker's space" every weekend. When I had my niece this past Saturday, I found this spot on the Yelp Events page. For $5, we brought some old t-shirts in so that they could get "up-cycled" into a head bandana, a bracelet, and a handbag. My niece had the pleasure of working with Shay who taught her how to make all of these things. Shay was super patient, kind and attentive- perfect for my 11 year old niece who loved getting crafty with her. Because we were the only ones there, it was especially nice because it felt like we had a private lesson!

The honey casually mentioned the Space Paintings a couple months back, and then casually dropped a few more hints, and then promptly forgot about it. So I decided to plan to head down to NUMU this weekend before the exhibit ended to he could get his NASA Space Painting on. First off, they are gorgeous. The colors are so bright and just lift off the canvas. It's fascinating to think that's where they saw us in a few years time. My personal favorite was the piece which held the Earth in the upper portion, it's swirling clouds a backdrop to the space dock they imagined would reside there. At $9 a person, if you get the chance you should certainly stop by NUMU, just seeing the different space conceptions (one of which you might recognize from Intersteller) made the trip entirely worth it!
