What a surprise of a find!!! This was so much more interesting, and fun, than we expected it to be. The artists are all very talented, and to have them display their works out in the park, is awesome. We talked with several artists, and learned so much about each of them, as well as the glass blowing art itself. So much time and effort (not to mention talent) goes into creating these works. As one other YELPER says "good luck trying to leave without picking up at least one"... We left with a couple, and there were people with baskets full of their wonderful finds. The best part of this event, for me, is that I have some items that I know who created them, and a story behind them. So much more meaningful...

This is my every-year event at Los Gatos High School. It has some amazing art work and though the patch isn't so unique, the artists are incredible and there to talk about their art. It is the most beautiful showing of glass pumpkins! To boot.... it benefits the high school, and has done so for many years, and I know the impact it has made, my niece attends LGHS and the money has supported so many programs!

Besides the amazing spectacle of seeing over 2,000 glass pumpkins all at once, visitors to the patch have a unique opportunity to meet and talk directly to the artists, while buying glass pumpkins to decorate the harvest table. Quite a sight to see! Besides glass pumpkins, also stained glass works and glass vegetables and fruit are on exhibit and available for sale. Amid a rustic setting of hay bales, the event is free to the public. Proceeds benefit the Los Gatos High School and local glass artists. Always in October, I believe; for 2008 its Oct 4 and 5th.

PROS - Easy to find parking on neighboring side streets. - Coffee was provided for free at the front. - The portable lavatory nearby was the cleanest I had ever seen. - No entrance fee. - Very nice glass pumpkin selection from different artists. - Nice time to just view/touch some awesome glass pumpkins. - Display of pumpkins on hay bales was well executed. Nice sunny day really made the pumpkins stand out. - Pumpkins designs seemed more creative than the other glass pumpkin patch in Palo Alto CONS - High school can be tricky to find if you have never been there before. - Pumpkins are a bit pricey (for example, $65 for a small 4-inch diameter pumpkin), but that's the price of beautiful artwork done by our local artists. I didn't buy one this year - maybe next year! Cheapest pumpkin I saw was $25. - Patch is only open for one weekend

DO NOT miss this annual event!! It is a one-of-a-kind display that only happens once a year. The artistry is unbelievable. Good luck trying not to buy more than a few. I can not get over how they do this. The pumpkins and other glass work is astounding. These pieces make for great Fall displays, table decorations or super cool Christmas gifts. The artists are there as well so you can ask questions. It is a family friendly event, so get there early.

This event has become a yearly tradition for my family and me. It always takes place the first weekend in October and I can get much of my Christmas shopping out of the way early with locally made, stunningly unique, hand-made gifts. The presence of thousands of shimmering glass pumpkins is an art all its own. This event is a great way to begin the Fall season with loved ones. I bring my dog and the kids and fun is had by all. Plus, this event raises money for the school, so it's a win-win for everyone :)
