My go to sushi spot in the bay area! Usually I'll do a doordash pick up...but I've gone a few times to sit in the last few months. I've ordered quite a bit of things before: vegetable croquette appetizer $8 sake wasabi don $28 chirashi combo A $32 (tuna, scallop, sake, hamachi, kanpachi) bento sushi set beef teriyaki They do server 2 bottled beers, but for the most part no alcohol. Food comes out relatively fast for the most part. If it is a part of the bento, it could take longer (beef teriyaki took super long last time) There is not that much difference with in person and takeout for chirashi combo...which is how it should be. The quality control here is fantastic regardless of eating in person or doing a takeout. Great quality fish, thick cuts, lots of rice...most people probably don't finish the rice. For in person, they do yelp wait list in person. (I don't think you can do it on the app for this spot). Biggest difficulty is parking. During peak hours, spots are small and tough. You may need to park farther out and walk over.

My first impression of this place was that the portions are very generous. I ordered the chirashi, which came with huge cuts of fresh fish. My husband had the Hae-Dup-Bob, a Korean dish made with raw chopped fish, sesame oil, and gochujang sauce. The gochujang overpowered the delicate fish. I still preferred mine overall, though I do wish the fish pieces were cut a bit smaller. Our kids shared the beef udon, which was pretty good, and we added a side of oden soup made with assorted fish cakes in dashi broth. They really enjoyed their food. Since I arrived hungry, I also tried the Sumo roll. It had salmon and yellowtail inside, topped with spicy tuna, pickled jalapeño, spicy sauce, and radish sprouts. The pickled jalapeño added an interesting kick. I ended up taking mine off, but my husband liked it. We were glad we came early because parking is quite limited. The service was friendly and attentive. I appreciated that the staff brought extra bowls for the kids and even came by to help clean up a bit of miso soup my son spilled without us having to ask. Overall, it was a good experience and I'd definitely come back to try a few other rolls and their bento boxes.

Multiple friends have recommended this spot to me over the course of the past few years but I only recently made the decision to try it. I had heard that Sen Dai was quality sushi on the pricier side, but I heard nothing of the generous portion sizes or efficient service. We pulled into the parking lot ten minutes before they opened for dinner service and already saw a few people standing outside. By the time we got out of the car and walked up, there were already over five parties in line ahead of us. Once 5 PM hit, everyone was ushered inside and seated quickly. Within the first ten minutes, every table in the dining room was filled. The menu is massive and we found it to be quite overwhelming. There were appetizers, sashimi, nigiri, special rolls, bentos, drinks, etc., then combination options between all of those as well. We decided to go with one Sen Dai roll and one Lemondrop roll, along with a mixed tempura appetizer. The Sen Dai roll wasn't really my thing, the wasabi sauce combined with the julienned jalapeños inside made every bite way too spicy. The Lemondrop roll was much more up my alley though, I love salmon with lemon and this roll totally hit the spot. The tempura shrimp was really well done but the vegetables could've been a bit better. I found the broccoli to be cut too large for my liking, the sweet potatoes a little on the thick side to be cooked thoroughly, but the shiitake mushroom was the best out of the tempura'ed veggies. Service was incredibly fast, from getting seated to having our order taken to our food arriving and then the check coming, we were in and out in under 45 minutes. I'll definitely return to this spot and continue recommending it to anyone looking for a sushi spot! Next time I'll pass on the Sen Dai roll though, and probably try one of the other specialty rolls or some of the nigiri options.

I tried the Storm Bringer roll, and it was so filling -- especially for a petite female like me! It had a nice mix of cooked and raw seafood, which made it flavorful but not too heavy. I also ordered the seaweed salad appetizer for $9, and it came in a surprisingly large portion -- definitely worth the price. Seating is pretty tight since the dining area is small, but the wait is short even though the place stays consistently busy, which was a pleasant surprise. Overall, great quality, good value, and quick service. I'd happily come back to try more rolls next time!

I ordered the chicken katsu bento meal and added the tempura to it for an extra $3. The chicken was crispy and the salad was good. The tempura was also crispy and delicious. I was full at the end. The service was great. Our waitress was super patient and made sure she got our order correct. She came by the table a handful of times to check up on us. My water was refilled at least 3 times. That's one of the many things I grade service on is if they refill my water without me having to ask. The place is nice. It's kind of small so super big groups is probably not best. Our group was 6 which was big for them but they accommodated us. They have many sushi makers at their stations making/rolling the sushi. The prices are not terrible either. I'd go back for sure.

The service here was spectacular. I wish I got our waitress's name but she was excellent. I came with a party of six for my birthday and she was very attentive, ensured our orders were accurate, and that we received everything in a timely manner. We tried a bit of everything from agedashi tofu, the rice bowls, classic rolls, and specialty rolls. I thoroughly enjoyed the hamachi carpaccio. The fish was buttery, had a mellow flavor, and the two types of citrus were a nice touch. The unagi rolls, crunchy roll, and specialty rolls were great. I think you're able to get great value from almost all of the rolls on the menu. The inside of the restaurant was very clean, organized, and great for smaller groups. I'm ready to come back for seconds.

Sen Dai is one of the South Bay goats for sushi rolls. The rolls are extremely value considering the size, selection and quality. I have other favorites too but this is certainly one of them. Just hate dealing with the parking lot here. RECS: + Storm bringer ($18, 5/5 stars) is honestly my perfect roll with soft shell crab, imitation crab, salmon, yellowtail, unagi, avocado, and unagi sauce to top + Train ($17.50, 5/5 stars) is delicious with the plump scallop complementing the salmon + Sun ($16.50, 4.5/5 stars) is unique with spicy yellowtail on the inside and a dusting of togarashi on top I need to try the Blondie Bombshell, Highway, or Ace next!

I heard a lot of good things about this sushi spot. It is a small restaurant in a small plaza with limited parking and a fairly good amount of seating within the restaurant. My friend and I came here for lunch and it was crowded. We ordered sushi and each individual sushi pieces within the roll were BIG! Loved it but at the same time it was hard to eat it. We had to put the whole piece in our mouth or it would fall apart and become messy. So the size of the sushi was a good and bad thing.. Overall, the food was pretty decent but I wasn't super impressed. I might try something else when I'm in the area.

A favorite spot for us to visit, though we somehow managed to forget to write a review for it until now. It's usually quite busy, the parking lot is small and usually full, and there's almost always a huge queue of take-out orders lined up at the entrance. We ordered our staples - the rainbow roll, crunch roll, and the baked salmon roll. We also tried out the Alaska roll. The fish quality, as always, is amazing, fresh, and consistent from all the times (probably 20+ times, since 2015!) we've been here, and the price has always been pretty low. The rolls are also pretty big - some may find an issue fitting the piece wholly in their mouths. Our folly always has us ordering two rolls a person, which is way too much food for us.

Love Sen Dai. Huge variety of sushi, fresh fish, FAT slices, cheap prices. My favorite roll is the happy blossom roll as someone who loves california rolls, spicy salmon, and tobiko. Dined in on Labor Day 2025 and the amount of tobiko on my roll was insane and almost moved me to tears. Each piece of sushi is almost too big to eat in one bite cleanly. The bento boxes are all good quality and give a lot of meat as well, and very flavorful vegetables to cut through the sauce on the meats. Miso soup is good. Obviously their sashimi is excellent. Their speciality is their raw fish though, 100%. Service is always quick and gracious, the workers here are never slacking and will provide everything that they can. The ambiance here is dark and people often celebrate birthdays here, lots of families and dates but not many kids.
