# Sonesta San Jose - Milpitas Hotel Overview

Worst hotel experience ever. I accidentally left two personal belongings on the nightstand after check out. I called the hotel immediately upon realizing and was met with no help from every person I spoke with. I made numerous calls to the hotel attempting to recover my items and I was either directed to a lost and found phone number with a full mailbox or I was told that a manager would call me. I got a call from someone in the "lost and found" department - DAYS later. I was informed my items could not be found. I was told my suite was checked by management immediately within an hour of my first phone call reporting the missing items. Per their "log" they checked the room immediately but no one was able to report an update to me until 5 days later??? Also, the said "log" and time frame I was told the suite was checked did not match the time frame I actually called the hotel to report the items. So, not only was there lack of effort in recovering the items, there was a lack of effort in telling the truth. I truly believe my items were mishandled and/or discarded by Sonesta. Secure handling and recovery of belongings left behind by guests should be a priority. Communication should be priority even for guests who have checked out of their property. Half apologies and being told "we checked" doesn't cut it. While I accept my own personal fault of leaving my items behind I do not accept the lack of organization, communication and accountability on Sonesta's part. 1 star is generous. -100/10.

I've been patient and respectful, but all I wanted was 5 minutes on the 3rd floor where my partner passed away in room 321 a few weeks ago. After many attempts to book (and pay), I was told to "come back later" and now told the whole floor is booked for months -- which feels impossible. Rooms here can be re-rented within days of a death. I just wanted answers, but instead got delays and zero compassion.

I've stayed here a couple of times and have found the accommodations and staff to be just great. The overall 'meh' Yelp star rating surprises me. On one stay, I got upgraded to a larger room, which made the stay more comfortable. (I've sometimes had that backfire, but definitely a plus here). The beds are super comfortable and clean. The shower was plenty good and customizable -- temperature, etc. The value was very good. Though I didn't love the required extra fee (that allows you to get a 'free' item or two in the pantry/shop), it wasn't a dealbreaker. To their credit, it is listed upfront so at least they're transparent. The parking lot is accommodating -- it didn't feel like you were cramped to move in or out of a spot. It was a little odd to find the occasional smoker - but at least it was outside! The restaurant, which I will review, was fine for a later dinner.

The Good: Front desk staff was friendly and accommodating. I'm not sure why all the negative reviews of this hotel. Location is perfect, it's within walking distance to 99 Ranch Supermarket, MayFlower dim Sum and a plethora of restaurants from which to choose. We got a 2 queen beds (Deluxed room) on the 10th floor (Room 1004) with a gorgeous view! Even numbered rooms are more quiet and lovely views (fyi). Room is clean and beds are made perfectly. Room has a small fridge and safe, plus self laundry at the end of the hallway with the ice-machine. The NotSoGood: Bathroom is a bit smaller than other hotels. The room itself, even "deluxed", also seemed smaller than usual. The Take away: We'll come back again. The hotel is super convenient and clean. This says a great deal since we live about 20 miles away. LOL.

Been here so many times for conventions on the second floor, but haven't tried their restaurant. I know they don't have coffee to go. The front desk are kind and they sell coffee in cans at the front. The lobby is small and it's a typical business hotel.

Decided to stay here for our weekend getaway trip to the Bay Area. Was attracted to this location because of free parking, price (~$120/night), gym, and its offerings nearby, there is a strip mall across the street with all kinds of Asian food and a 99 ranch, very convenient if you are here for business and don't have a car. I can also tell that most of the hotel guests here are business travelers. The room is very basic, found a nail and hair in the bathroom and hair on the pillow, bathroom needs to be renovated cause the tube tiles and dark grouts really grosses me out... luckily I wasn't here to enjoy the hotel and was only here to sleep honestly. However, I can appreciate their newer versions of life fitness equipment at the fitness center, as many lower-end hotels cheap out on their gym and only provide half-broken and decade-old treadmills. Glad to be able to get my work out in while traveling. The cleanliness of the room needs to be improved, really wanted to give it a 4-stars considering the price and everything else, but the hair and nail in the room we found was a big deal for me so it's a 3-star. I would be open to staying here again.

I decided to treat myself to a staycation on Thursday night. Work has been busy & I literally have not been on a vacation in 2 years. I wanted a hotel that was reasonably priced in the San Jose / Santa Clara area. After doing some research on Yelp & Google Reviews, I decided on Hotel Sonesta. I am so happy I picked this one! The price was reasonable (my budget was $200), it was centrally located enough that my friends still came by to visit, I had a nice view, and the king bed was plushy! Staff was very friendly when I checked in and out. Also, after joining Sonesta Rewards, they gave me a $10 food & beverage credit. I applied it to some soda and water from their pantry area. When I checked in, the lobby was busy; some business travelers, and a college volleyball team visiting from out of state. I would definitely stay here again.

Highly impressed with the upkeep and first impression of the staff and the presentation of this hotel. With highlights to the Sales department and the staffing in food and beverage. My biggest takeaway from this experience was how unique the design of the interior of the hotel was, which was very simple yet complementing. The lobby was noticeably vast, which had high ceilings and plenty of large pain windows. Super comfortable, warm, and inviting it definitely was giving chill vibes. The rooms were just as comfortable, I booked a junior suite and they didn't miss. My husband and I were celebrating our 5 wedding anniversary, and even with that, there was a small token delivered to highlight our special day. Effort and pleasantry go a long way, and the staff have found a happy medium. I do recommend having breakfast at the Seven Bar & Grill. We had the pleasure of meeting Largarda, one of the breakfast hosts, and she was genuinely friendly and helpful. I've stayed at different Sonesta properties in CA and even as far as Boston Massachusetts. I see the progress some stays are better than others, but this brand is growing on me. I see you, and I thank you!

I had to attend a funeral and just needed a room near the place where everything was going to be conducted. The room was $160+tx but since I became a "member," I got a $17 discount. In my honest opinion the room should have been $79-$99. The building was clean on the outside, the lobby and restaurant area were also nice. The staff was friendly but hole moly, the room was not great. From a distance, if you squint a bit the initial impression of the room was okay, but it went down hill fast. First the carpet was lifting in areas. There was no guide in the room with information about amenities, hotel restaurant menu or anything. The bathroom was old!!!! The wall paper looked gross, the grout was very very liberally applied. Super nasty looking. The toilet seat was falling off. They don't offer individual shampoo, body wash and conditioner. Disgusting! Whether they clean them or not, the impression is that anyone else staying in the room has touched them. Icky! Thankfully I did not need to use it. The shower head is SO low that I was shooting me in the lower part of my chest. I'd need to adjust it and stand at the back of the shower to get higher coverage or crouch down. Lame! The worst part was the towels and bedding. It wreaked of bleach so strongly that my eyes became bloodshot red, we're burning and watering like crazy. It made it impossible to sleep and after a 7 hour drive, I needed rest for the 7 hour drive home the next day. The dining/bar experience was insanely overpriced. $17 for 6 chicken wings and $8 for a bottled beer... it wasn't very good either. The Korean fried chicken was okay but you literally only got 6 wings for $17... the garlic parm wings had zero flavor... again 6 bland wings for $17... my total "meal" with drinks was over $75 ‍ such a massive waste of money. Glad it was only 1 night. I would not recommend this particular hotel. Can't speak for the quality of the others...

Stay here was great; 4 days and 3 nights. We had already booked this place without checking the reviews here so I was a bit worried. Didn't have any problems while we were here though. There was a lot of parking available; is $15 each night (will be taken out of the deposit). There is also not a daily room service, it is weekly but I believe you can leave whatever you want to be taken or disposed of outside of your door and whoever stops by will take care of it. Employees were nice, check in and out was quick and easy. Breakfast is not complimentary (about $27 per person). Pool is also available til 10PM. Overall, had a good experience and would probably stay here again just because the area is nice.
