Took my kids on a 3/4 day fishing trip with Davy's Locker and had an amazing experience. The crew was super friendly, great with the kids, and made it easy for beginners with no fishing experience. We caught some fish and had a fun, stress-free day on the water -- highly recommend!

It's the @light_skin_dragon coming to you live and direct from 2 to 3 weeks ago. Took my family for their first time whale watching! I enjoyed it because at the last minute before we left back a huge whale came right under the boat. And it was an amazing view and day. Well spent with my loves. There was street parking and garage parking as well. And it was right next to the beach so after we went straight to the beach after. Now it's time for the light_skin_dragon to find another hot pick to review next

This review is exclusively for the 3/4 day trip only!! I personally felt scammed and ripped off!! Took my son for a first time fishing encounter and it was not pleasant. First of all, online and Instagram accounts were deceiving and had false advertisement. They pushed the patriot, big game and trips to Catalina island and neither of this was true!! Instead we were stuck at the freelance, patriot has not been used in idk how much time, with a big group of 62 people and lines tangled all the time, we didn't go far at all and we only fished for small fish!! Second; we were catching sculpin left and right , whatever fish we got, they were putting in our bags and whenever limit was reached they were putting in others bags, a deck helper wouldn't let us choose our fish while others were able to!! This was upsetting because fish from other people were put in our bags and we couldn't swap event tho the other side of the boat was able to!! Third, when trying to fish for white fish my little son caught not one but two rock fish!!, the deck helper helped us out on grabbing them until another tell the others we couldn't keep it because it was "his favorite fish" captain came he said we could keep it because his eye was busted. Long story short the fish disappeared!! Fourth, everyone kept saying my son was the jackpot winner, however when it came up to it they gave it to someone else which upset our side of the boat!! Fifth, when it came up to filleting, the crew imposed a $3 DLL charge on every fish, this is crazy!! You usually tip the guy doing it! It might not seem like much but why would I pay $45 Dlls on a small little bag of fish when I could easily go to a local fish market and get filets for under that price without having to pay all of the other fees from the boat!! I was so upset as many others in the boat and didn't even claimed my bag!! Upsetting trip overall, I felt like the instructions were vague to attract the most customers.

Had a great experience with the boat and crew at Davey's Locker in Newport. My girlfriend and I were guests for a private birthday party on a humid, but overcast and cloudy September weekend evening. Although we were disappointed to not be allowed to leave the harbor due to weather favored beyond our control, the cruise around Newport Harbor was fun and festive. The crew was quite friendly and accommodating during our two-hour adventure, offering up drinks and helping us during our voyage despite only seeing a few occasional jumping fish and fellow nautical passengers. Would be interested in checking out during better weather patterns with the hope of seeing some whales and dolphins. Overall, a fun adventure with Davey's!

Whale whale whale... had a great time at Davey's Locker for both their Whale Watching Tour & Sunset Cruise! Parking: Park either in the medium sized lot adjacent to the Balboa Village (free after 6 PM) or across the street at the beach parking ($4.10/hour during peak season). Check-In & Boarding: Super easy - check in at the desk, fill out a quick name card, then line up right outside to board. Arrive 20-30 minutes early to find parking & check in. In my opinion, it doesn't matter if you're in front or back of line. Once you're aboard, you can move around to see different views. Whale Watching Tour: At check-in, you get option to get some binoculars for $5. In my opinion you don't really need them... though they are fun for kids! Whale sightings are hit or miss... but your chances to see dolphins are almost guaranteed!!! We saw sooo many pods! We saw one whale breach and tried to follow it, but sadly it never came back up. Supposedly they need to breach every 15 minutes or so. Also another adorable guarantee - the sun bathing sea lions on the buoy :) They log their sightings and type of whale of the season on a board outside their store and you can see the ratio - whale sightings that week were like 1-3 per day and dolphins are hundreds to over a thousand! Sunset Evening Cruise: Same boat, different vibe coasting in the harbor area, so no rocky waves. I would dub this the "Fish Watching tour"... oddly... we kept seeing fish leap out of the water! Love this chill vibe cruise for different pace and scenery after a loooong workday :) The boat first drove out to the rocks before the big blue ocean to wait for sunset to set more. Heading back after the big orange sun dropped was GORGEOUS! Pink/orange skies against silhouette palm trees and Newport luxury homes. So relaxing. My fave spot? Bottom deck for a 180 view... perfect for sipping a drink, chatting, or just peacefully self reflecting on the day. Tips: -Grab deals from Groupon, especially with drink tickets! -Grab one of the discount cards on the way out for future whale watching trips. -Feeling seasick? Stay on top deck with some fresh air.

Took some kids twilight fishing for sand bass. The crew on the trip was helpful and was able to help the kids with their catches. The boys had a good time hanging out staying up late and catching fish. One tip for twilight fishing, the parking lot nearby is available after 6pm and so you won't have to drive around the neighborhood looking for parking.

We had such a great time with Newport Landing Whale Watching! From the moment we arrived, everything was well-organized and smooth. The crew was incredibly friendly, professional, and helpful throughout the trip. You can really tell they care about both the guests and the marine life. The boat itself was clean and comfortable, with a great selection of snacks and drinks available on board. I felt completely safe the entire time, which made the experience even more enjoyable. What really made it special was having a naturalist on board. They shared so much interesting information about the ocean and the animals we were seeing--it added so much depth to the experience! Highly recommend this tour for anyone looking for a safe, educational, and fun day out on the water. We'll definitely coming back, we saw lots of Dolphins!!!! Bring Cash
