We worked with Five Star to find a place for a month-long rental in La Quinta recently. Having read some of the reviews on Yelp I was a little concerned and mentioned my concerns to Kevin when I spoke with him before we rented. He was very cordial and candid about the condition of the homes we were interested and went out of his way to make sure we'd find a place that we'd be happy with. He walked us through the options, told us which homes he thought he would be a good fit, and emailed updated photos for us to review. If you are thinking of renting through them I would encourage you to call and talk with Kevin to let him know any concerns ahead of time so he can help you understand the difference between the properties they have available and find a place for you that meets your expectations.

THEY ARE A SCAM! do not rent from them. I rented and tried to cancel well before my cancellation window and they keep saying they will issue my refund and IT'S BEEN OVER A MONTH!!! Kevin Cobb is a conartist and won't even answer phone calls. Save yourself the trouble!

The WORST so-called "luxury" Vrbo my family and I have ever stayed in! Five Star Vacation Rentals' website touts luxury, but I don't think Five Star Vacation Rentals know what the word "luxury" means. I booked this advertised "incredible estate" for our annual Christmas tradition get-away for my family. Five Star pretty much lied on their description of their rentals on their website. There was nothing "luxury" about the Big Bear Estate that I booked. Five Star even lied about their customer service. Upon I arrival to pick up, yes - I literally had to go to a 3rd party management office to pick up ONE key for my family of 8 - there was NO ONE at the office! I called their emergency number and then had to wait 10 plus minutes for someone to arrive with the key. The lady I spoke with at Five Star, Julie, was rude, curt, non-apologetic for the inconvenience they caused me. The worst part? Five Star lied about their vacation rentals! They claim "No detail has been overlooked", but in fact, they provide almost zero details.. The Big Bear Estate I booked: 1) had no garage remote for us to enter/exit the garage; 2) Had absolutely no pot holders; 3) Only provided 2 kitchen hand towels and 1 cheap thin paper towel roll for our 3-night/4-day stay; 4) Absolutely ZERO spices such as salt and pepper; 5) Ice Dispenser was broken; 6) Rat Trap underneath the sink (Yuk!); 7) No sheet pan for the oven; 8) Absolutely zero saran wrap or aluminum foil (couldn't cover my leftovers); 9) non-working light bulbs; 10) broken bath fixtures; 11) air vents and returns were super dirty; 12) super flat flat pillows; 13) bed covers were so thin, I felt like they all came from the thrift shop; 14) carpets were dirty and stained horribly; 15) toilet tissue was so thin, it couldn't even wipe a speck of diaherria; 16) shower door was stained with hard water; 17) had to run the hot water for over 5 minutes just to get lukewarm water; 18) TV's were small (about 28") in the two master suites; 19) the kitchen teflon pans were scratched so badly thus making cooking in these pans toxic to the food; 20) and more about their claim that no detail had been overlooked! Please - anyone reading this review - do your research before booking with Five Star Rentals!

NOTE: We paid a premium price for this cabin. Much more than other rentals and hotels/resorts in the area. The description said the cabin was brand new. So, my expectations were high. First- the good. The management company was good to work even though a lot was done via phone. IF you want to skii the location is good. That's about it for the good. The cabin is nowhere near new. It has wobbly railings, the furnishings are old. There is a recliner that is just gross, the arms are shiny from the material being worn away. The ENTIRE place including the bathroom, is covered with disgusting wall to wall green carpet straight out of the 90s. The shower is the from the 80s and barely works, the bathroom carpet hadn't been vacuumed Thoroughly and the washcloth was seriously dirty (gross). The mattress in the downstairs bedroom is hard as a rock and slopes in in the middle, mirror not cleaned and disgusting stuff by the bed. The refrigerator's door shelves are all missing the racks. The windows are dirty and the screens are half torn out. Shades don't raise. Outside you are either looking at the cabin's wall next door, another's front porch or the road!!! No privacy or woodsy feel. So bottom line not in any way worth $$$$ per night!!!!!!

We stayed at this rental on Friday and Saturday with a group including a pregnant woman and children. The rental was $1058.00 a night and marketed as a private ski-in and ski-out rental with a game room. This place was none of those things and the service from Five Star was absolutely atrocious. 1. There is a literal infestation of rats in this place. We have babies and children crawling on the ground next to what we later found out are rat traps. We saw rats scurry in the kitchen in the evening. We saw rats throughout our stay scampering around the rental. It is not a matter of seeing one or two rats during the course of our stay. This is a rat infestation and clearly was a known issue with the property as five star rental representatives told me as such. This is a health code violation and dangerous to the pregnant woman and children we had in our group. The fact that none of this was disclosed even though it was a known issue is fraudulent. We have many videos of the rats that unfortunately we are not able to upload. This is not only gross and unsanitary but also potentially dangerous to the pregnant woman and babies we had in our party. 2. There is no access to the mountain/lift as there is a fence blocking access. Again I have a photo but was not able to upload. When I called the number provided, I was told by the Five Star representative that she was in Newport Beach and there was nothing she could do and I could leave if I wanted. Obviously not a very accommodating thing to say but moving on. 3. The place was absolutely filthy. There were cockroach droppings in the kitchen. Everything was filthy and did not even appear to have been wiped down or cleaned. 4. The sink in the bathroom on the main floor did not drain. 5. The TV controllers did not work. 6. A number of lights do not work through the property. The lamp in the "game room" the light over the shower, etc 7. It was not explained that the "game room" is in a separate bldg that requires going outside in the cold and down stairs. This is something that should've been explained previously again because we have a number of young children. There is not a single positive thing I have to say about this place and we could not wait to leave.

Do not book with these people, they charge you a cleaning fee when you're the one cleaning for the next people. There's no way they clean the house and wash all linens in 4 hours we booked the "no 20 mountain masterpiece lake views 6 bd ac!" There was random decorations from a birthday party hosted there right before us. 4 of our toilets were leaking, shower head didn't work, a pipe leaked the whole stay our clothes kept collecting water and as soon as we noticed that 5 star calling us saying the water company reported a water shut off but was never shut off. We told them what was happening and a repair guy came to look said he'd fix the shower never did, said the leak came from a pipe under neath/ in the wall then just left his number to report anything else but did not fix anything he just took a paper we found from a company on the 12th saying there was a leak in pipes and when I showed that he just took the paper. We called again and a plumber came, he said the water on the carpet/wall/behind the dresser was from people showering and there was no pipes right there, he said something was loose on all toilets, he did fix our shower after the last guy didn't. I then called saying how the leaks were ruining our stay all 5 star vacation rentals said they understood and that they will get ahold of the owners to see what they can do for us yet never called us back and just emailed us our check out instructions. This situation could've been handled way differently and more professionally but they did not want to deal with it instead someone came 3 hours before to drop off a bag for the next guests which means those who rented the home after us will be also dealing with their clothes being wet and constantly dealing with a mildew smell and it will be a never ending cycle of complaints that they chose not to deal with.

If you're looking for someone to manage your vacation rental, this is NOT the one unless you want one-star reviews. Believe their bad reviews; the properties are poorly maintained and they will leave your guests hanging. If they can't keep their customers happy; how do you think they'll keep yours happy?

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!! extremely unprofessional and fraudulent! We were promised a certain rate on a booking, even have it in WRITING from the so called "owner". Overcharged us and have been calling for over a month to have it reconciled. They promise they're looking into it but not one call was ever returned. Every time I call they claim "accounting" has to reconcile and they are out to lunch, really? At 4pm? And again at 930 am? Do yourself a favor and choose a reputable company who actually care for their clients. Now I have to work with my bank to rectify the overcharge. Thankfully I have it in writing. The cabin itself was filthy and unsafe for children, we ended up leaving a day early! Once again-- do yourself a favor and find a different company to work with-- not worth the headache and unprofessionalism.

I booked before I saw the reviews because I booked with them before with no issues. It was many years ago though. I hoped it was just people with little issues posting negative reviews but I was dead wrong. I understand it's a forest and there is wild life but there are ways to guard against having infestations in the home. Considering we've caught FOUR mice in less a day, it's doable. How about plug the holes they've made? Seems really simple. For $6,000 for a Thanksgiving stay you all should be ashamed of yourselves. I will make sure to leave a review with photos every single place this home is listed. I called this morning when I saw a mouse running around. That's what the instructions said to do. You are in the forest so it's expected but just call us and we will come out. I called at 7:00 am. It's midnight and I haven't heard from them and I could care less that it's a holiday, just like these mice don't care! 24 hour service is 24 hour service. No call. No nothing. Fortunately for me, on this particular stay we are outnumbered men to women and most of these men are from a rural area so they've taken this much better than the rest of us. Because of their ability to spot the homes the mice have made and video taping the mice's patterns, they've been able to catch them. Thank goodness they're here because I would've packed up and left! Even in this snowstorm! I can deal with one small stove for an 8 bedroom home (quite ridiculous). I can deal with the small fridge because we just stuck most of the food in the snow. I can even deal with this outdated furniture. What I can't deal with is rodents running around the house without a call back or a single trap left for us to deal with them. Thank you for this wonderful experience.

False advertising- offered to us - 295 Stony Creek Road Big Bear, CA 92315 Bedrooms: 4 and Max Persons: 14 person, two queen beds in one of the bedrooms and more. And when we arrived we found a missing bedroom, missing bed - yes- missing bedroom and bed , it's hard to believe but we experienced it. Missing beddings, found an underwear, missing pool stick, very cheap equipment for what they have charged, and lastly extremely unprofessional. Our Christmas weekend was ruined
