We didn’t have a reservation but managed to seat at the bar and had a kind and fast service. Food was delicious, although they’re famous for the pizza we had the halibut and a salad that were great. Only negative is that it gets extremely loud inside

The food is absolutely to die for! The fresh buchata is just incredible. The funghi pizza is from another planet…
Wine is paired beautifully at the discretion of Tim, the man behind the bar, making sure the experience is impeccable.
I come here every time during my work trips (4 times a year) and I wouldn’t miss it!

Mediocre at its best … real disappointment.
Just don’t go to save your money.

Had a high hope/expectation as it has such many James beard nominations. Wrong.

I visited with my friend as I was in SF for the weekend. The server had zero passions. For “Outstanding Wine Program Winner”, he couldn’t bother us much to give a recommendation. He said something and I agreed to get a carafe of it, before I read deep enough he pulled the menu out of my hand - not to mention he never said “hi welcome to join with us” or any sort of pitch: -1pt.

SERVICE
- We ordered two antipasti, pizza and pasta, they served EVERYTHING in under 10 minutes. How did you think we can eat all in one go? It’s not a chain family restaurant.
- While we were served everything pretty much rushed to be out of the place, couple next to us had plates/utensils replaced after their antipasto. So why I’m getting the different service from the same exact server?

FOOD
-  Everything we got, was alright, but nothing fantastic. Considering it’s in SF, it’s pretty bad.
- Pizza (ROMANA)was rather “soggy” than juicy. Couldn’t tell if it was because of the dough or the amount of tomato sauce
- Pasta (MACCARONARA) was really “meh” for the price. The noodle is super chewy, which is good but didn’t go that well with the sauce.
- Two appetizers were good, but who can mess up asparagus?
- He added prosciutto to our smoked burrata without asking for it. It was charged on the bill as well. Definitely not worth $31.

I always have three metrics to measure the restaurant;  price, food, and service(ambience). I’m okay to miss one element, but this place missed alll three. Too expensive for a mediocre food, and service was just too bad. Easy worst meal during 4 day SF trip. Wish I could get a refund but I’m totally fine by not visiting them again at all. I can only imagine owner/main chef have changed since 2015. Ugh.

This definitely has a family owned vibe and it has a nice backyard that's great for larger groups. Of course in SF it may get windy and cold even on a sunny day so be prepared for that if you want outside seating. The service is decent but when it gets busy they do forget to bring new bottles of water. We also weren't offered bread.
As for food we only has pizza and dessert so I can only comment on that.
The pizza is very similar to any other Neapolitan style pizza except there is more varieties of different meats they add to pizzas. Tiramisu is delicious as it should. Overall it's a good choice but be aware that parking is ridiculously lacking so be prepared to drive around for a while for street parking even if you park several blocks away.
The name reminds me of a16z but probably doesn't mean anyone who's not a techie.

Italian restaurant.
The pizza were ready in 5 minutes and super delicious. Probably the best I had in the city.
The chocolate budino was a very good dessert too.
Only complaint, the back of the restaurant gets super noisy. The app on my phone measured it at 95 decibels! It was very hard to maintain a conversation.
