Both were fantastic - the ham and cheese baguette was divine.

The croissant was flakey on the outside but buttery and chocolatey on the inside.

I will definitely be back!

It is popular because it is good. I came in with my family on a Sunday morning. Constant line at the counter, but they move fast. Indoor and out door settings.
I also ordered for my work meeting. Was able to call in and pick up on a weekday. They open at 8am. And when I came at 8, they are already busy.

Great croissants. I had plain, chocolate, blackberry almond hazelnut croissants all are great.
Really buttery and crunchy outside soft inside.
I also like the cranberry coconut scone.
They are famous for a reason. The civic center location appears  to have more options on the menu.

Oh man! This place was phenomenal. We ordered a kouign amann, and the blackberry hazelnut croissant. Some of the best we’ve tried! Even the vanilla latte was really good! The only thing I should mention is the area surrounding is a little rough, especially if it is your first time in sf. But over all I highly recommend trying!!!

Expect to wait in a line outside before you come in, but in my experience, the line moves fast. Trust me, the almond croissant will be worth the wait. I also had the blackberry almond croissant and a plain croissant.

Obviously the pastries are incredible so I couldn't believe this place would have negative reviews. If you're not rude to the staff, they won't be rude to you. They probably put up with a lot from people who are used to getting their way all the time. It doesn't cost anything to pay attention to people and share a little kindness.

Standing in line, I saw single people and groups of men and women, locals and tourists, old and young, and I was reminded that non-addicts outnumber the addicts in this city many times over. If seeing homeless people in San Francisco bothers you, you're probably going to be uncomfortable here, but nobody weird was having a mental health crisis in front of me or asked me for money while I was in line. There are tables inside and outside where you can sit and enjoy your food.

First off, this place is NOT WORTH THE HYPE. The food is extremely MID. Not to mention the area is super SKETCH, which is something these TikTok creators don't tell you about. Now don’t get me wrong, the pastries are beautiful,  but that is about it. What got me the most, is for them to sell French pastries was the fact that they sell croissants with NO HONEY, JAM, OR EVEN BUTTER!!  Which makes no sense at all. And if you have ever been to France or Europe, those things are standard offerings. But even with those shortcomings, customer service is something to be desired. The staff had no expression or hospitality. I do not recommend this place as it is severely overrated.
