Must visit if you are in SF city and craving for Authentic Indian food. Portions are normal not large per person with exceptional presentation.

Food has very pleasant aroma of Indian Spices and you can also taste its fieriness in every bite.

Indoor seating is warm and cozy with good selection of Nostalgic music that is not at all loud though enjoyable.

Interesting was to see 10 items on their dessert menu as most Indian restaurants have no more than 4 basic desserts but their desserts are distinct and mellowed down to sooth your palate.

Overall great experience with drinks, food and welcoming staff.

Would have rated higher if the service wasn’t so bad. The food was good and the small and medium plates had good portions. I didn’t like that no chutney or sauce came with the naan and you had to pay extra for sauce. Two small plates and a medium plate with a mock tail (cost $11 for no alcohol which is NOT a good value but tasty) and cocktail came out to over $90 with tip so not cheap.

It took a few minutes for a waiter to come by and take our drink orders and there were only two other tables early in the evening. You could tell he just loved to talk, but it was information overload. Then we had to stop him to take our food order since we were ready but he wanted to run off. After we finished eating we didn’t see him for over 15 minutes. Tip: If you are slammed, you don’t need to go to each customer to refill water when they have the carafe on the table as they can do it on their own, please check on your other tables especially the customers that are waving at you!! Finally we asked another server for the check. Another 10 minutes went by and when we flagged the other waiter again he apologized as he thought our original waiter handled the bill (he didn’t). They opened relatively recently (we visited Jan 2020) so hope they work out the kinks as it Bhoga seems like a promising addition to the Castro.

Edit Jan 2019— looks like the owner hasn’t paid 3 employees who quit and are now suing for unpaid wages. Makes me like this place even less...

Tasty food, small portions, overpriced, and terrible service.

We came on a sunday, they had a few tables with ptrons inside and a few outside, but we only saw one server.

Taking food order took so long, but having our drinks took even much longer and food came in really late.

We shared chicken kabob appetizer (had a really weird taste), pesto paneer (was okay, but bland), samosa (tasted good but nothing too special, and $5 each!).
We also ordered two main dishes, lamb beryani and malai kafta. The beryani was really mediocre and the portion was relatively small, but we all loved the malai kafta sooo much.

For dessert we had golan jamoon which was very avg, not sure why soo expensive, and the mango mousse which was very very good.

I’m not sure if i really recommend this place. I think there are better indian fusion restaurants in sf that are less expensive with better service and food quality.

We came here for our anniversary. Love the ambience and music, although the high chair tables and bench are not particularly comfy. Overall good food and good presentation of the dishes, but not something I'd crave a lot. Food offerings seem to be a mix of south Indian and north Indian, with slight twists and embellishments. They had a dates based kulfi, or Indian ice cream, which was the star of the show.

Highly recommend. Simple and delicious, well prepared and served. Friendly service. Vegan coconut lassi was amazing, so was the tandoori lamb. Will be back!
