I stayed at the citizenM this past week and it was great! Modern efficiency style rooms that are super comfortable and clean, an amazing and kind staff, and in a good location. I also loved their lobby as a great workspace and good coffee. Their breakfast was also top notch!

Honestly, the rooms are teeny tiny, but if you don't plan on spending much time in the room, that shouldn't matter as the rest is pretty good. The rooms are well sound proof, the only thing you can hear are the neighbouring doors opening and closing. No street noise, no room noise (I'm very picky with noise and a light sleeper, this is super important to me and I was very satisfied). Super clean, practical, kind staff and a spacious and welcoming lounge on the 3rd floor where you can chill, work or have a drink. It's not a luxury hotel, but you'll sleep well and enjoy a safe & clean space. The price is very reasonable for SF, it will def be my to-go hotel when in town.

This place offered too good to go for their pastries. You will need to go to the 3rd floor by elevator to get it. The experience was very nice. Usually places on too good to go are those who want to make an extra buck by selling less quality food. This place however seems to be determined to limit food waste. For the same amount of money I only got 4 thin slices of sweet bread at Peet's. Here I got a lot more. There were 8 chocolate croissant, a regular croissant and a scone. For a hotel like this, I would imagine they wouldn't care about food waste for how much they make. I'm quite surprised and impressed.

All rooms are identical between citizenM San Francisco and citizenM London - probably the same everywhere.  Much better suited for solo travellers than for couples.  One person can stay reasonably comfortably but two people in a room will be constantly crashing into each other and someone will have to climb over someone else getting in and out of bed and the toilet facilities are not very private.  The desk in the room is not well set up for working (too small and chair not ergonomic) but there is a common area in the building for socialising with more proper tables/chairs - you have to be able to not mind the background noise in the public setting though.  No facilities for any kind of tea/coffee in the room.  No iron or ironing board in the room and not really space to have one anyway.  There is a food service in the common area but you're much better off eating elsewhere.  Location is superb.  Facilities come with 24/7 security and feel very safe.  Rooms are clean and very well maintained.

On a vacation to San Francisco, I spent 4 nights here. I feel like any longer than that would have been too much. The rooms and public areas were well decorated and new. The staff were all personable and helpful. This was also one of the nicest places I could find for the price.

The only real downside to the stat is that the rooms were small with barely any storage. I knew that beforehand, but was still surprised at the lack of storage. For a few days this worked, but any longer and it would have gotten annoying.

Almost everything in the room is controlled through an iPad which was both fun and annoying. I could change the color of the lights, but couldn't figure out how to light certain bulbs and not others. For example, there didn't seem to be a way to light up only the reading light beside the bed and nothing else.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. One block from the BART, street cars and buses. Half a block from the cable car and walking distance to many spots. We also walked to Fisherman's Wharf (via the Ferry Terminal and Embarcadero) and North Beach (via Chinatown) although we like to walk a lot.

I'd stay here again!
