My fiancé and I came here to celebrate our engagement, and viewed this dinner as a special treat (given the price point). And while the food itself was good, the pastas were very flavorful, the service and ambiance left something to be desired. Our waitress barely greeted us and sat us in the front. When asked for recommendations, it was a short “tasting menu” response, without any actual dish recommendations. She was not very polite and very short with us during our entire meal. She even took our plates and utensils away before my fiance finished one of our apps, so he used the large serving spoon to eat instead. We felt extremely rushed, even though we came early (5:30) and there was no one else waiting.

Since we were celebrating a big night for us (our engagement), we were hoping for some sort of acknowledgment or congrats but there was nothing from our server, even though we explicitly put it in our reservation. Meanwhile, we hear another couple get served complimentary champagne for celebrating their anniversary. Then we saw our server very warmly greet people she probably was friends with (who also got complimentary champagne). We were not even asked if we wanted dessert.

While the food was good, the service made us feel unwelcome and I would not want to go back. It’s unfortunate since we chose Itria to celebrate such a big night.

The portion sizes are also incredibly small for the price (each pasta being almost $30). I’m a small eater and I wasn’t even full from this meal even though we had ordered multiple apps and pastas and spent almost $150.

If you’re looking for a good date night spot, I would skip this or hope you get a better server. I’m disappointed by this since we’ve been wanting to go here for a while.

I absolutely loved their innovative take on Italian food. The variety of fresh seafood paired with fun, complex, exciting sauces made for an amazing build up to the hearty pasta courses. The use of mushrooms at this restaurant was definitely a stand out. The shiitake, olive oil and citrus in the tuna tartar made for a really unique, particularly delightful flavor combination for what is otherwise a classic. The texture and flavor of the chanterelles made the second pasta feel really meaty and filling. The variety of beverages in the alcohol pairing was so fun and different. The ambience was also so relaxed, especially in the communal table. It was great to chat with other folks during dessert. Overall I left the restaurant full, a bit tipsy and extremely happy 😅 this is a must try in SF!

Had a great experience at Itria! The food is very food, the standout dish for me was the Chef's trio of crudo, particularly the scallop was outstanding. We were also both happy with our pasta main. The vibe is casual and laid back. The only negative is that the evening felt rushed, the appetizer was served within minutes of ordering (before the wine arrived) and they want to turn their tables over, so if you're expecting a long dinner  that may not be what you're looking for.

Nestled amidst the vibrant energy of San Francisco's Mission District, Itria stands out like a chic oasis. Its minimalist elegance and relaxed vibe, with dim lighting and a sleek interior, set the stage for a truly cozy dining experience.

We opted for their phenomenal tasting menu, a steal at under $100 per person (before taxes and tip). This four-course extravaganza featured three delectable dishes in each of the first three courses, culminating in a delightful dessert. It's a fantastic way to sample their culinary creations, both seasonal offerings and some of their permanent menu stars. Every single bite was a revelation, leaving our party of three feeling incredibly satisfied.

While portion sizes may seem small at first glance, trust me, by the end of the meal, we were happily satiated. Their menu is served family-style for appetizers, transitioning to individual portions for the main course and dessert – a nice touch for both sharing and savoring.

Reservations are a must, as the place was buzzing when we arrived. Luckily, we had planned ahead and were promptly offered seats at the bar with drinks while we waited for our full party.

Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and readily highlighted some of their most popular dishes. We snagged the rosemary focaccia with garlic anchovy oil, a must-try. The focaccia itself was perfection – warm, buttery, and light – and the garlic anchovy oil added an addictive layer of flavor.  A minor quibble – it could have been a tad warmer. In hindsight, starting with the bread would have been a great call, allowing us to savor it before diving into the subsequent courses. As the meal progressed, the focaccia went a bit cold, overshadowed by the star of the show – the incredible food.

Speaking of which, the tasting menu kicked off with a complimentary chilled soup – a taste bud explosion of perfectly balanced flavors. It was a small portion, but oh-so delicious, setting the bar high for what was to come. Every dish that followed lived up to the promise.

The first course featured Miyagi oysters, Hokkaido scallops, and Shima-aji. Each seafood starter was a testament to freshness. The Hokkaido scallop was melt-in-your-mouth buttery, while both the scallop and the Shima-aji boasted a delightful citrusy zest. The oyster, however, stole the show for me with its tangy perfection.

The second course continued the parade of fresh offerings – ocean trout, bluefin tuna, and amberjack. Each dish was beautifully prepared, with the sauces and the dressings taking the center stage. Seriously, these sauces were so good that I could have licked the plate clean!

The third course showcased the brilliance of their house-made pasta: casoncelli, cencioni, and pappardelle. The casoncelli, in particular, was a revelation.  Light and handmade, the roasted pistachios added a delightful textural and flavor contrast, perfectly complementing the creamy yet light sauce. All the pasta dishes had sauces with the ideal consistency – neither too runny nor too thick.

Finally, the panna cotta provided the perfect sweet ending to our culinary journey. Light as air and bursting with flavor, it was like eating a cloud of cotton candy. The interplay of tart and sweet flavors was truly exquisite.

While the service had a few hiccups – attentiveness could have been a touch better, with water refills requiring some effort on our part – the phenomenal food easily overshadowed any minor shortcomings.

Overall, Itria offers an exceptional dining experience.  From the relaxed yet stylish ambiance to the explosion of flavors on each plate, it's a place that will leave you wanting more.  Just be sure to make a reservation – this gem is a hot spot for a reason!
