San Francisco Marriott Marquis is an excellent hotel in the heart of downtown San Francisco. There are many things to do in the nearby area, including Union Square and a variety of shopping options. Right across the street, you will find a Target, a movie theater, and several restaurants.

The hotel itself is very modern, with plenty of amenities and dining options. When you walk in, you are greeted by a spacious and contemporary check-in area. The elevators can be a bit confusing at first because certain ones only go to specific floors, so be sure to pay attention to the signs. Once you arrive at your floor, you will find that the rooms are updated, very clean, and quite comfortable. I have stayed here twice, and both experiences were pleasant.

The views of downtown are also impressive. If you are a Marriott Platinum member or higher, you have access to the M Club. It is not open 24 hours, but they post the operating hours, and you can enjoy a good selection of food and drinks in a comfortable setting outside of your room.

Overall, I recommend the San Francisco Marriott Marquis. It offers a convenient downtown location, modern accommodations, and a pleasant stay for travelers.

The location is very central if you are in town for an event at Moscone. However, the quality of the hotel itself leaves much to be desired. Water pressure was poor, 2 light bulbs were burnt out in my room upon arrival, and the automated service to order (overpriced) food was not working... Yet they couldn't take a pickup order from over the phone. Speaking of pickup, you can't have food delivered to your room... You have to go down, place an order, go back to your room, wait, and then go back down to get it. Additionally, had a bad experience where I ordered medicine for delivery and was called to be told I needed to pick it up. I didn't realize they wouldn't accept it for logistics reasons, but they told me, no problem, they'd grab it for me as an exception as I wasn't dressed. When I went down to grab it, I was told they don't accept deliveries and I must have been mistaken because no one would have accepted it. Got in contact with the delivery driver who sent me a picture of him handing it to a staff member. Finally was able to track down the employee and get my meds. At least the hotel cleaning staff were friendly.

Rooms with 2 double beds had a “window” that overlooks the inside of the hotel glass was not sound proof so all you can hear all day long is the noise from the motors that operate in the building. Despite booking king bed (bookings say can’t guarantee a kind bed??? Then put in a lower rate for these sub par rooms.
With noise from trucks loading and unloading from 5am! Very very grim for a very expensive room (avoid). Lots of things within the room in need of repair: toilet sliding door handle loose and noisy; shower leaks from every angle except the shower head had the lowest pressure I’ve ever experienced. Fridge that is too old to be in use forming condensation on everything and very noisy for a bedroom fridge. Coffee machine is ancient and very dirty with coffee residue.
Toiletries are not good enough for a hotel of this caliber - soap that is very drying to skin (bring your own).
Only one bedside table to share between two sagging tired beds with itchy linen.

Good points: you can request room to be serviced at a time that’s convenient to you (which is much needed as you won’t be waking up fresh and early with such a noisy room)

Arrived and departed the hotel by bus for a military training/conference.  Erroneously charged by the hotel for a valet and $80 per night parking fees for two days when I did not have any car or rental.  Front desk told me they would fix it and didn't.  Called the hotel after arriving home and was transferred to a foreigner at an out-of-county call service center to take my dispute of the parking charges.  The operator told me Marriott would give me an answer on my dispute claim in 5 - 7 business days.  No mini bar or vending machines were on site for after-hours use by guests; the front desk refers you to a 7-11 up the street.  Of the food vendors that are open during the day in the lobby, a small cheese pizza and a bottle of mineral water costs $36.  A Cadbury candy bar is $7.  A bottle of mineral water by itself is $13.  The rooms are about the same as a standard Courtyard by Marriott, clean and functional, but nothing extraordinary.  This hotel is a heavily overpriced rip-off with incompetent staff and abysmally bad customer service.  Would never stay there again and do not recommend it.

I would like to commend Rosanna for her exceptional service. As a long-time Platinum member with Marriott, I can confidently say that Rosanna exemplifies the qualities of an outstanding staff member, especially at a high-end Marriott property. She handles customer interactions with remarkable calmness and professionalism, consistently exceeding expectations.

The difference between a truly great hotel and a good one often lies in the small details, and Rosanna ensures that all those details are met to perfection. She is, without a doubt, one of the best hotel staff members I’ve ever encountered.

I hope this message reaches Marriott’s leadership. Employees like Rosanna should be recognized and retained as representatives of the Marriott brand. Thank you!
