What a fun hidden gem! I came here with a friend with no reservation and no line on a Thursday night.

Good:
- Loved the laksa noodle soup here - so much flavor and the coconut flavor was very pronounced and good.
- The fries here were great and I loved the dipping sauce
- Good place for a catchup - it was nice and quiet inside and good clean vibes that felt homey
- Staff were so kind and willing to help!
- Good value!

Bad:
- Took a bit for entrees to come out!

Overall this was a great find, and tucked into a nice corner of the mission. I will be back!

The spice jar

The spice jar is a solid place for Asian food of all kinds. The menu has a great variety of dishes and everything is really good. The prices range between 13 and 19 dollars per dish, depending if you go for lunch or dinner. Everything has the right amount of spice and flavor. I definitely will keep checking them out for their awesome dishes.

Let me start by saying that my wife and I were both super excited to go here because of the great reviews and the amount of dishes.

We went there for a Saturday night dinner and started off with the Vietnamese coffee for her and Nigori Sake for me. She loved the coffee however it was not made with typical Vietnamese ingredients. It seemed like chicory coffee instead of Vietnamese ground coffee.

We also ordered the Korean Wings, Garlic Fries with curry mayo, Pork Bao, and Tonkatsu Ramen. The Korean Wings were cooked really well and were pretty sticky but the taste was incredibly sweet. The Garlic fries with curry mayo were the best part of the meal but again there wasn’t anything that stood out except perhaps that the curry powder used was the Japanese brand.

The Tonkatsu Ramen ( one of the main reasons I went there) was super bland. The broth barely had any flavor. I kept having to add Sriracha to get some flavor. There was no umami, definitely no Tonkatsu. It had pork belly, which would’ve been fine if it was actually good. It was not! I am an avid lover of Ramen. This was not good ramen. The noodles were somehow undercooked and barely edible.

The Pork Bao tasted like balsamic vinegar and sherry with too much sweetener. It had none of the notes of authentic pork bao. You can find authentic pork bao on Clement st. To be honest, the pork was over cooked and incredibly fatty.

The highlight was that the service was incredible. They were very attentive without being in your face. The service was a 5/5 but food was 2/5.

It’s a good place to hangout after a few drinks but not meant for foodies, especially individuals looking for an authentic meal.

We walked in a very basic looking place , but I needed up loving our choice. Surprisingly very good food. Decent size portions! Seaweed salad, wings, fries, pork bao. Loved it all! Thank you so much!

I got the chicken wings and the Laksa while my friend got the stir fry. The food was good, nothing great. Considering the quality of Asian food in the Bay Area, this place isn’t worth recommending or going back to.

Detta är en väldigt anspråkslös hörnrestaurang i ett huvudsakligen bostadsområde bara ett kvarter från uppdragets livliga 24th Street. Tjänsten är vänlig och effektiv. Läcker mat som hade min japanska fru (mycket särskilt om att få japansk mat rätt i USA) planerar att komma tillbaka innan vi ens avslutade vår måltid. Som vegetarian beställde jag tofubiffen som kom i mycket generösa portioner åtföljd av groddar, spenat och en stor portion broccoli - allt läckra. Inga reservationer så det är bra att komma dit tidigt eftersom det inte är en stor restaurang. Kanske är nära hälften av sittplatserna vid ett långt bord utöver två toppar runt omkretsen så vibe är intim och vänlig.

Vi har haft den asiatiska fusionsmat som börjar med vitlök edamame. Vi gillade särskilt tångsallad och kryddig Sesam Miso Ramen. Det finns inte så mycket utrymme här så naturligtvis när restaurangen är full - som oftast - tenderar bullernivån att vara hög. Men om du är med vänner har du inget emot det, du lägger troligen på ljudet själv. Tjänsten var effektiv och killarna som sprang showen var artig och hjälpsam i att välja vår måltid.

En sådan liten liten plats! Mycket smakfull mat! Liten meny (som jag älskar!). Också mycket rent och du kan sitta ute i solen också. Och det är en semi riktigt gata. Servitören (och ägaren antar jag) var mycket vänliga och hjälpsamma med frågor i fråga om menyn!

Denna lilla plats är stor på smak och asiatisk komfortmat. Väntetiden var verkligen värt det. Våra aptitretare var fantastiska (chicken karaage namban, roti bröd med curry doppning och den kvällens speciella takoyaki). Älskade min tonkotsu - shoyu ramen soppa var utsökt med en buljong som var både silkeslen och smakfull, rätt maträtt för en december kväll. Två i min parti hade kyckling pho och mongolsk biff. Hyfsad personal och snabb personal. En stor komfort smakfull måltid.

Allt kom ut varmt från köket som det var förberedt och vi lämnade mycket fulla och glada.

Vi hade en utsökt måltid på Spice Jar. Tång sallad var färskt och flavorful min make sa laxen var utsökt, organiska och mycket välsmakande. Min ramen var oh så tillfredsställande och läcker. Vi satt bredvid ett annat par på ett gemensamt bord och det var som att gå ut på middag med gamla vänner. Ägaren var uppmärksam och vi var väl omhändertagna. Allt som allt en underbar måltid.

Vi kom till restaurangen och var glada: området är vackert och vackert inrett. Personalen var vänlig och servicen var bra. Och när den mat kom dit var det såg bra och verkade vara gjord av kvalitet på ingredienserna.

MEN: Ingen av de saker vi beställde var särskilt mumsigt. Det här stället har stora asiatiska crossover-menyn. Thailändsk, japansk etc. vi beställde flera rätter att dela bland tre personer. Mongoliska nötkött, sallad och den gröna curry. Alla var mycket trevliga.

I en stad fylld med stor asiatiska rätter, detta är ett fynd. Det är ett krypin, så just kommit tidigt. Ovanliga rätter, gjort mycket väl. Den soppor är verkligen speciellt.

Jag var nästan inte vill se över The Spice Jar eftersom det är så bra, så rimliga och en ganska liten. . . . . . . Så kommer jag ändå att kunna komma in! Utsökt asiatiskt crossoverkök, oss alla 4 ÄLSKADE vår mat. Bra för paleo diet, och glutenfri kost också. Ingen reservationer, så du kommer att behöva vänta om du får det efter 6:00, men det är en vänlig och färgglada i Peking (hjärtat av Den Mission) och full av lokalbefolkningen. Det ligger i ett mestadels ett bostadsområde område, så inte en hektisk stad scen trots att det är i hjärtat av staden! Oh, ett bra urval av öl och vin, alltför!

Mina vänner och jag kom hit till kolla in det här stället. Det är en söt liten hörnet plats. Den server var mycket uppmärksam och maten var god. Vi provade nästan alla rätter som de har. De har många olika rätter från olika asiatiska rätter.

Den gröna curry var ganska bra, vitlöken nudlar var jättebra. Det är en kort vänta vissa nätter och tyvärr finns det är ingen plats att vänta inne i baren.

Det här är den i Peking's favorit tillhåll- färsk, god och modern pan-asiatiska rätter till bra värde. På att portionerna är stora (perfekt för delat)och atmosfären är varmt och inbjudande. Det är ett litet ställe, och att de inte tar bokningar, så kom igen tidigt för att komma en plats, eller vara beredd på en 20-40 minuters väntan. Super trevlig personal, utmärkt drycker, och vegetariska alternativ.
