Very smooth rental and return. Some incentive in upgrading at start of rental, but not too aggressive. Return was super fast and efficient and friendly. Highly recommend! Also used Costco.com to book. That was also super smooth and allowed me to cancel and rebook several times before the rental day as our timing was somewhat fluid. No surprises at return. Drove a 2025 RAV4 to Texas and back for ~$36/day and got ~33mpg, not to mention the fact that gas is less than $3/gal once you get out of this insane state. ;-)

I waited a year to write this review. Last summer, my bf rented a car from Alamo and returned it after hours. We returned the car in the same condition we received it only for us to get a letter in the mail a month later describing $5000 worth of damages. I spoke to several people including loss prevention and requested video footage which fell on deaf ears. They claimed to have "conducted an investigation," insisted that I was at fault and closed the case. Since there was no one to accept the car after hours, I was liable for the damages and cost of repairs. If I learned anything from this experience is: read the fine print, and never rent from Alamo or Enterprise ever again Their business practices are unethical and I question their values as a company.

The representative Tara was friendly yet very easily distracted. She charged us twice for 1 invoice. Leaving our account $400 short on our vacation. Money is still on " hold "even after We turned the car in. Customer service just told me to wait until money is deposited or I would have to contact my bank. There's nothing they can do on their end. I do not recommend this company at all. Unless you speak to Alexis the manager & if it's only him processing the whole transaction cause clearly , the other representatives need more training. Especially when we asked Tara all these question prior to her mistake happening . Didn't expect a simple car for 4 days to be $800 on our trip. This issues was reposted the same day.

I was very pleased with Alamo. From start to finish, it was a great experience. When I called them before my trip, I was easily able to get a hold of a person instead of an automated system, and I could get my questions answered. My family arrived late at night at SJC and there were several cars of the same type we had reserved. The lady at the desk named Leticia was very welcoming and kind. She told us which of the cars were available for the price point we had reserved and she let us select which one we wanted! I've never had a car rental agency let me choose before! We were very excited to try a brand we'd never driven and selected that one. The car was great. The check-in was easy. There were no hidden fees. Returning the rental was easy. I will definitely remember this good service.

Easy to pick up and drop off our vehicle during our short trip to San Jose. Props to Kevin, the kind and professional crew member who received our car at return. We explained that we our front driver tire showed low air and we had to add air 3 times during our trip. He credited our bill for our trouble. Much appreciated, Kevin! Easy to check in, easy picking up the vehicle, easy return! All the workers we encountered were friendly quick and helpful. Very happy crew! We'll be back!

Great place to rent a car. Did the accelerated check in. Bypassed the counter and went straight outside to pick up the vehicle. Employee outside guided us to the full size suv aisle which there wasn't any options to choose from. Rented a 2024 Jeep Wagoneer series 3. Great vehicle for 6 people for a few days. Very comfortable and spacious. Return was a breeze. Staff checked fuel level, mileage, and did a quick walk around. Would highly recommend and would definitely rent from here again.

The skip the counter feature is the best and easiest check in route to go. You do everything all online and you just show up and pick up your car! Check out was the best with the customer service provided by an employee named "Vi." We really appreciated her and with customer service like that, Alamo will always be our rent a car first choice!

Not a great pick up experience. Excellent drop off experience. Skip-the-counter check-in is not available. Only accelerated (and not much accelerated). Why would it not be available? I arrived at 6am when it was supposed to be opened. Nobody showed up until 6:10am. A few more minutes for the system to boot up. Not a good start for the transaction. Minus 1 star for that. Accelerated moves some paperwork from the counter to you online. I can't imagine how much time it saves for the consumers. It benefits Alamo more when they can process more customers. But if they really wanna do that, why is the skip-the-counter option not available? They can get the car ready for consumers to pick up right away! After the counter, I took an elevator to the 6th floor to pick up the car. I waited for another 10 min for them to "find" my car. If I already prepared ahead by doing the accelerated check in, why the heck they didn't prepare ahead? Minus another star for that! Returning my the car was a breeze. The whole process took less than 2 min! The guy scanned the barcode on the windshield, walked around to make sure there wasn't any damage, and checked if I had a full tank. All in all, it's was good. If Alamo can improve on the pick up process at this location, that would have been a perfect 5 star rating!

We tend to use Alamo Rent-A-Car when we visit San Jose. Our last visit, which took place on January 30, 2024 was rather interesting. As usual, we utilize pre-check in so that we don't have to stand in line at the counter. We went to collect our vehicle and noted an exceptionally long line. There was only one person (Shelly), assisting customers. There was a woman in line, who was clearly unhappy about the wait time, and verbalized her displeasure to Shelly. Shelley maintained her decorum and continued to work efficiently connecting customers with their vehicles. Thank you Shelley, and thank you Avis for hiring stellar employees.

Easy pick up and check out. The car was very clean and well maintained. Customer service was excellent. I let them know the car smelled like cigarettes and they kindly gave me a small discount upon drop off. I could tell they really cleaned the car well because it smelled like cleaning products but it's nearly impossible to get cigarette smells!
