I got the empanadas (a mix of pork and chicken) at El Gran Tamal Colombia. I would not recommend this place at all. It was disappointing. When I received the dish, I took one bite, and the inside was cold--the meat and cheese were cold. I told the guy, and he made me a fresh one, but it came out cold in the middle again. The dish wasn't good at all. It seemed premade, and it felt like they just refried it. The texture of the shell wasn't flaky; it was hard and didn't seem fresh. Honestly, I would give this a zero star, do not come here.

09-27-25 We haven't tried Colombian food yet. This food truck is located on First Street and Alma Avenue in San Jose. It's surrounded by Mexican style food trucks. Wanted to try something different. I was studying the menu for items to share for two people. The staff was very friendly and helped me with the menu. The pictures of food help a lot. We chose the #7 Caldo De Costilla $24.00. It's a Beef rib meat soup with potatoes. Very good, seasoned beef broth not too oily. The combo also includes a flour / corn fritter stuffed with cheese. Its very plain so ask for a dipping sauce. The Eggs, bread and cheese is just as it sounds. No real bang. The bread is good when you dip it into the beef broth. Two people could share this dish. The coffee was good a little sweet for me I like black coffee. The dining area is shared with other vendors here. It is clean they have picnic style seating here. Parking is tight. I did not see restrooms.

doing some errands around the area and ran into this truck with a few others in the south of downtown. As the name says they just do tamales and they are these grapefruit sized things with chicken pork, potatoes, green onions, cumin, tomatoes, cilantro, egg, and a number of other things I probably couldnt pick out. There was no menu since they only do the one thing. Cash and Zelle seems to be the new way of food trucks these days and it's the same here. The folks who work here are super nice and the truck concentration here is decently happening. Glad to see more and more Colombian cuisine showing up in San Jose

This is my favorite Colombian food spot! It is a food truck in a fixed multi truck location, serving truly authentic traditional Colombian food in San Jose. The tamales are better than any I've had, even in Colombia! They have a great menu of traditional favorites. If you have never had Colombian food, I highly recommend this spot to experience it for yourself. Thanks Oscar, we always enjoy your food and your friendly service!

I'm not usually one to leave reviews, but these papas truly deserve it! I've tried many Colombian papas in search of that authentic flavor, and I finally found it here. The taste took me straight back to a trip to Colombia. I've already sent friends and family there to try it, and we're all in love! Let's continue to support our local small businesses--it's one of the most powerful ways we, as Latinos, can lift each other up. Please, never change a thing. Las papas that have's everything is my top!
