My husband and I are Diamond members of Hilton Honors and owners of two Hilton Grand Vacation properties, so we are deeply familiar with and typically loyal to the Hilton brand. During my recent stay at the Hampton Inn San Jose on Cherry Avenue (Room 333, June 8-12), I encountered a disappointing experience that fell far below Hilton's usual standards. The carpet in the room was filthy, unsightly and unsanitary. I shared a photo of the condition with the General Manager, Patricia Morreale, who responded promptly and acknowledged the issue after visiting the room herself. She assured me it would be cleaned. While I appreciated her responsiveness, at no point was any form of compensation or gesture of goodwill offered whether a discount, additional points, or an incentive to consider staying again in the future. This lack of follow through left a lasting impression. Regrettably, although the location was ideal for my travel needs, I will not be returning to this property for my upcoming trip to San Jose this September. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and results in improvements for future.

Today I had the most awful experience with front desk and this insufferable woman named Cookie. I've worked in hospitality for almost 10 years now and I have NEVER met or seen anyone be this unhelpful, unwelcoming, or unfriendly in this profession. I forgot my ID at home and she was being completely inflexible and would not allow me to use a picture of my ID or Passport. When normally I use the digital app and don't even have to "check in" with my ID. I had a busy hectic day, so I then had my husband call to see if he could bring my id and get the keys and she continued to be difficult and said I had to be present with the id, so my husband and I were driving back and forth around all SJ trying to get this very small and insignificant problem resolved that shouldn't have been this big of a problem. She also responded, "well I'm not the one who forgot my id", after I explained what an inconvenience it all was. She was completely distasteful and unprofessional and it's such a shame to see such a beautiful establishment get dragged through the ground because of someone's negative nasty attitude.

We have now stayed at this hotel 4 or 5 times in a year. Yes, there is a homeless encampment in the nearby pond area. NO it did not impact our stay in the slightest. Desk staff was attentive and helpful. Maintenance and service staff went out of their way to help as needed -- and we did need them after dropping a cup of coffee!! Breakfast had many selections, and fresh baked cookies are available for guests every afternoon. Once again, the room we selected was clean and even ready early. The surrounding grounds are cleaned and patrolled by security. Landscaping is well maintained. There are many different restaurants within easy walking distance. We will return and will continue to be repeat customers

An update on a deleted review that was removed due to a "Cease and Desist Letter" sent to my email from a Gmail account claiming to be Hilton Legal (screenshot shown). The email started by stating my place of employment (blocked in red). I'm not sure what the point of that was, but I digress. Here is a synopsis of my original review: - Night-shift Front Desk Service = 0 star - Homeless around the hotel = 0 star - Hotel room/stay = 0 star OVERALL --- I would NOT recommend staying here unless you want to wake up to late night phone calls from the front desk only to be hung up on ... or leaving a negative review unless you want to be sent a cease and desist letter from a unofficial non-Hilton email.

Such a nice hotel! I wasn't expecting much but the room was beautiful, super clean and so comfortable. Would definitely stay again. Very extensive hot breakfast in the morning. Secure at night: no one can enter without a key card. A great stay!

Silver Hilton Honor Members. Stayed last weekend. We checked in the day before.and picked our room. Room not ready when we arrived after check in. We were given 2 rooms that were not ready, had to go to the front desk several times. We finally got one that would work. Asked for the manager who refused to speak to my husband. 2nd night in, there was a disturbance in room across the hall. Our phone did not work so we called front desk from our cell phone. No answer. We had to call the police who removed the guest. This went on from 2am to 7am. Next night another disturbance, guest yelling for hours in the middle of the night. Called the police again. When we checked out the front desk acted clueless. Called corporate to get our points back that we used and the manger had to approve it. Only refunded less than half our points. Shame on you Hampton Inn and Hilton.

The ac unit is so loud. Had the worst sleep . I did not get the room that I reserved. I wish I could attach a recording I made at 12:20 AM of this loud room. The shower is weak on pressure so a shower may take longer. Not staying here again.

First timer for business for 5 nights- the Residence Inn in South SJ had roaches so I asked company for an alternative. Bonvoy elite so it was a change to go back to Hilton where my Diamond status lapsed and down graded to Gold. This property used to be the Wyndham Wingate and recently rebranded to Hampton Inn. You do need to use card key to swipe to enter even front entrance 24/7. (Previous reviews mention security issues) The good: modern. Comfortable, clean. Mostly quiet. No roaches. No ants seen. Free hot breakfast. Coffee, tea, waffle maker are all back. 24/7 exercise room. Convenient location. Close to lots of restaurants, shopping, freeway. Didn't see any unhoused people in the parking lot- there are tents across the canal on the backside of the property. Could be better: Hilton app does not allow for mobile key nor is there a map if you want to select your own room. (I like to be away from the elevator, ice, housekeeping entrances, and away from the freeway). Despite listing of King Suite- check in person said they do not have suites and no upgrades available. 'Gym' is really an exercise room with an elliptical, bike, treadmill and some medicine balls. No free weights or machines. No one cleaned or restocked the towels or water machine the entire week I was there. Parking can be a bit crowded if you come back after work/dinner. Lots of big trucks.

My husband and I just spent nine (9) enjoyable nights here. We had a lot of family staying in our home. We thought it most important for the family to be together so we spent the nights here. The staff was wonderful. Victor was always professional and helpful, and Velia checked to be sure we had the towels we needed and the garbage emptied. We stayed on the 4th floor and the nights were extremely quiet. Breakfast was pretty good and it was fun to see the families getting ready for the local hockey tournament and those just visiting in the area. Planning to stay again next Christmas holiday season.
