We had a wonderful experience here. In reading through reviews and complaints I would say this is currently a 3 or 4 star hotel because it doesn't have the luxury features such as valet parking and luggage assistance. Since we don't care about those niceties, the hotel was wonderful. The front desk was welcoming, (I love the Turkish dried apricots instead of cookies), soft yet firm wonderful beds. No matter the noise outside, our room was quiet - we never heard a peep from the hallway or our neighbors. We were there for 3 nights and I know that people were partying into the wee hours outside yet we slept better than at home! We had two different rooms, first a double queen room and the 2nd was one was smaller because it could be used as an adjoining room for a family, so only 1 queen instead of 2. Our bathrooms had nice counter space, and nicely appointed - I loved the lighting and the large mirrors. The sinks are a modern good looking design though I was afraid things would fall into the open space that goes across the (see pic). The windows open - always a plus for us. Very, very clean and tidy. And the filtered water machines in the lobby were also a huge plus for us! We had one dinner in the restaurant and the rest of our food was via a wedding reception. All was delicious though I wouldn't seek out the restaurant independent of a stay here. And yes, the pool area could use an upgrade in the future but plenty of people enjoyed it! I love the history - the original mansion came through the vision of Mary Hayes Chyoweth, an herbal medicine healer and spiritualist. It made my happy to see that it was rebuilt and restored twice, saved by a restoration league and a city councilwoman. Thank you Hilton for adding your power behind it. May the Hayes Mansion continue on and get better and better with agel!

The hotel remodel was lovely & the gentleman than checked us in was very cordial, BUT the experience of our stay was AWFUL! We opted to stay at the hotel since my family was hosting a dinner the night before (where we spent $5K!). We wanted to enjoy ourselves, not worry about driving anywhere & to sleep-in. We were awoken by fire alarms that they were being tested. We were NOT warned about the testing that would be taking place from 9am to at least 10:30am (possibly longer). A bit before 9am, my husband went out to meet a friend & pick up coffee for the family & missed the start of the testing. Thinking that the testing was going to be quick, I wasn't immediately upset & decided I would make a few important phone calls to my doctors' offices. I was stupid to think that because while I was on the phone, testing went off periodically! At 10am, I went to the room next door (where my adult children were staying) & said "I can't take this, let's go." As we were packing up, we left our doors slightly open to allow easy access to one another. A man walked into my room unannounced & one of my sons became infuriated with him since my husband wasn't there. Shortly after my husband arrived another man walked into my kids' room unannounced & my other son was infuriated. Thereafter, he walked back into my room & my husband was infuriated! We grabbed our belongings & left. My husband drove to the front desk to speak to a manager, but there wasn't one available. The person at the front desk said we'd receive a phone call from the general manager. Our stay was on 12/22/24, we departed on 12/23/24. Regarding our dinner event, I thought Mary & Jose were amazing to work with. Mary was very gracious & patient with all my questions. Jose & the server for our event were very attentive. The set up of the room was beautifully done. The taste of the food was not quite to par, but it was "banquet" food so that is to be expected. I was most disappointed in the dessert. I had ordered & paid extra for an apple dessert to be served with ice cream. I noticed a dessert station with assorted bars & cupcakes were set up. I asked Jose about the dessert I ordered & he said it was changed to the station. He thought I was notified, but unfortunately, I wasn't. I passed on having dessert that evening (because I don't care for cake-like sweets), but my family told me they were dry & stale & not to try it because it would only upset me more. I was an event planner for many years so my ratings on the quality of the food (fishy smelling salmon & overcooked & salty steak) & the way the salad was plated, might be harsh, but because it wasn't cheap, I stand by my ratings. I addressed all of this with the GM via email, shortly after the event. She replied & asked how I'd suggest compensation. I offered my suggestion & followed up a week later...I followed up one more time a week after that. It is October 1, 2025, I've learned my lesson & will not be staying or ever booking an event at Hayes Mansion ever again. that evening (because I don't care for cake-like sweets), but my family told me they were dry & stale & not to try it because it would only upset me more. I was really looking forward to my stay here during a recent trip to San Jose for a wedding, but unfortunately, the experience fell short, especially for a $322/night. While the hotel itself is visually beautiful and the housekeeping, maintenance, and restaurant staff were kind, the front desk staff was surprisingly unfriendly and unhelpful throughout our visit. We were thankful to be allowed an early check-in, but we weren't informed that our room window directly faced the pool and a neighboring room's private pool patio. It appeared to be the only room with that odd layout. The AC stopped working during our June stay, and the room climbed past 76 degrees. After contacting the front desk, we were told they would contact maintenance, but we never received an update or confirmation. To cool down, we tried opening the window only to remember it opened to a small private patio space where our neighbor guests were hanging out with music well into the night. Then we were woken at 6 AM by music and pool maintenance. After a few more calls, maintenance came and installed a portable AC unit. Unfortunately, it wasn't done properly. The exhaust hose kept slipping, blowing hot air into the room. The window had been taped shut for the unit, so we couldn't open it for fresh air either. The room was even hotter than the night before. Breakfast was also a letdown: $30 per person for a very basic spread (not even decent coffee included) felt like a ripoff. We ended up DoorDashing lunch to eat by the pool, which was the highlight of our stay. The pool area was genuinely lovely, but sadly that was the only standout. I asked to speak with a manager to share my concerns, and was told one would reach out, but no one ever did.

We drove up to the property and it's beautiful. Not something you would expect to see on the other side of Monterey Highway. We drove up to the check-in and had a little snafu with the room. We had asked for a walk-in shower, but the room we were assigned ended up with the tub... we called the front desk and waited in the room while they brought us a new key to a different room. We jumped back in the car and drove to the other side of the hotel, and then tried to sneaky. Enter the hallway without interrupting an Indian wedding. Not an easy thing to do. However, they earned a full star just because their AC rocks. The bed was comfortable, maybe a couple more pillows would've been nice. We went to the restaurant and Nicole probably earned another star back. She was patient, informative and kind. Overall, a little pricey, but well worth it for my wife. But yes, try the tiramisu it's great!

Went to the Latino Health Summit at the Hayes Mansion. It was event about all Latino culture, and their family and Health etc. It was a fun event and was able to learn more about other companies that joined the event as well.

Horrible room service. Called three times for two extra pillows. Once when first checking in then throughout the night. Front desk said they would send pillows each time but nothing ever came. No room service for food. No number to call, instead you use the QR code but there was no function on the app to actually make an order, only to view the menu. When calling front desk they were clueless and said walk to the restaurant. OK did that but don't claim you have room service when you don't. Hayes Mansion may carry the "Hilton" name but fails miserably to provide Hilton service. Our company will NEVER hold another function at this location .

I had high expectations for this hotel based on the reviews I'd seen, but unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. 1. At check-in, I wasn't informed that my room was a handicapped-accessible one. Additionally, no one offered assistance with my luggage or directions. My room (1116) was located outside on the other side of the property, and I ended up wandering around because the staff failed to mention a shortcut. 2. I wasn't told whether breakfast was included with my stay. 3. There's now a $20/day parking fee, and street parking is extremely limited--if available at all. 4. The bathroom design is poorly thought out. The oversized mirror hits the faucet, and I ended up scratching my finger twice. 5. The sink is large with no counter space, so I had to place the blow dryer in the sink while doing my hair. There is a desk, but it lacks a mirror, and the room lighting is extremely dim. 6. The closet is poorly designed--you have to angle the hangers sideways to close the doors. There's also inadequate lighting inside. 7. The closet space only accommodates short garments. There's nowhere to hang a dress, which was very inconvenient. 8. There's no steamer--only an iron is provided. 9. The coffee machine is bizarrely placed inside a cabinet. You have to lift it out to use it, which feels like a safety hazard. If someone has mobility issues, it would be nearly impossible to operate it safely from that position. 10. On Saturday night, a very loud event took place, and we received no advance notice. The noise continued well past 11 PM, which was frustrating for anyone expecting a relaxing stay.

This place is such a hidden gem! I know you're wondering why three stars. Well I had an event here and I must start with the positives. The place is cute inside and out very beautiful my favorite time is during the sunset with the light shining in the background. The service is where my stars loses its points. It sure if it was short staff this day but food came out soooooo late for my guess to the point people were no longer hungry. No a good look for an event for people to enjoy food, conversation and fun.

This hotel is beautiful . I had some trouble getting through the door , a LOT of random people congregating yet no one greeted me , I was not offered water , I was told there are water bottles in the room ($7 each) for Hilton honors members , but only after opening was told it's only silver and gold members free , not blue . Okay ? Then the lady said they'll let me have the water and just refill it ? Didn't explain the purified water located in the hallway , assumed her to tell me to refill with sink water ??? I don't know until I see the purified water fountain . It's not the way to greet guests , but oh well. Front desk openly admitted they didn't know certain things and wouldn't inquire until pressed further , no initiative or willingness to be proactive ... well , The housekeeping supervisor was amazing . And very helpful making up for the lax blase blase attitude of the concierge The one thing I think they should really do , is AIR out the place . Somethings wrong with the restroom bc it has some problem to make the air unbearable and I never smelled that type of smell before in my life . I thought someone drop a duece ... but the smell was the exact same days later . It lingers and must be some plumbing or sanitation pipe issue bc it's rancid . The lobby bathroom it's like hold your breathe bc dang it stank up in there something awful . Woo wii
