It served its purpose - Talk about convenience! It was literally next door to the Civic center which was perfect since that was our evening plans - Parking for one night was $45 which meh but I didn't have to worry about driving which was nice - The room was a standard sized hotel room, out dated with a few things that needed to be touched up (bathroom ceiling) & AC - Now for the biggest issue... the AC not working. We tried to set the ac to kick on before we left in hopes that it would cool down and made it back to a sauna. It was way to late for me to even bother complaining or pressing the issue since I was so exhausted - Now where I will admit the staff was 5 stars! Any interaction with a staff member was always so fun, friendly and pleasant. Despite the hiccups, the staff members were amazing - Hotel was reasonably priced and close enough to night life which was also convenient.

A great place and location when attending events at the San Jose Convention Center. So many places to eat and drink within walking distance. They offer breakfast, complimentary I believe... There is a bar but we didn't return from dinner with time to enjoy. Oh and free WiFi! The one thing I wished they had was outlets on both sides of the bed. When so many use their phone for practically everything, it's nice to be able to charge and use next to you. Still not a show stopper!

Looking for a hotel in the downtown SJ area was slightly difficult to find since there were so many options. I needed to stay close to downtown and the Hyatt Place definitely delivered. I wasn't looking for any frills but needed a clean place to stay and WIFI that I could count on, along with a working heater since it was freezing the week that I visited. First, parking was expensive. $40/night in an enclosed garage with no EV charging. Limited parking because one night I returned a little later than anticipated and the parking lot was nearly full. I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't find a spot. The room was huge! I was surprised with how spacious it was and really appreciated the sofas to relax on. There is a fridge available and a microwave downstairs in the cafeteria area so I was able to keep expenses down on food. The bathroom was clean and didn't have any issues with the shower. The only downfall was how thin the walls were. There was a few hockey games and I could hear the fans the next morning after a night out. I liked the desk area that was available to work at. Electrical outlets were easily available and WIFI worked perfectly. The continental breakfast is what it is. Cereal, bagels, eggs, potatoes, and yogurts. The bar downstairs was pretty attentive, however, expensive. At $11 a beer I was kind of shocked at the price since I placed the drinks to the room. My fault for not paying attention.

This hotel had all the qualities of a 5-star review, except for one thing: an extremely noisy room. I should have known when I found an extremely loud white noise machine in my room. I stayed on the 6th floor with my room facing the street. All night long the VTA train came by, usually about every 15 minutes, dinging its bells each time. Cars zoomed by with loud exhausts and blaring music. I normally do not have trouble sleeping but I barely slept the first night. The front desk was kind enough to supply ear plugs and I slept a bit better the following nights, but it was not ideal. Word of caution if you stay here: DO NOT stay in a room facing the street side. This hotel needs to upgrade their windows or do something to make the rooms quieter. I spoke with several coworkers who confirmed as well. I came here for a conference, and even with the special rate it was still $300/night. Very convenient as it is literally across the street from the convention center, but not cheap. There are so many hotels within a couple (short) blocks of the convention center to choose from, several much cheaper. And the convention center has multiple entrances on different sides of the block, so it's not a trek to get there from other nearby hotels. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They let me check in early. Gym was great with everything needed. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. The TV even got some paid channels. Free breakfast each morning was great and even better than expected. Like I said, this hotel had all the makings of 5 stars, but being able to sleep well is my #1 priority at a hotel and unfortunately this hotel needs some major noise blocking upgrades.

Do not stay here if you are bringing your own car! They will charge you $45 a day for their parking structure but do not clarify that it is a "first come first serve" parking lot. My family and I tried to park in their parking garage around 11pm and the lot was completely full. When asked where we should park the front desk recommended two nearby parking complexes that were BOTH CLOSED. Absolutely no sympathy from the staff, we had to park on the streets a mile down, RIDICULOUS. I'd also like to bring attention to their elevators, which have only received a temporary permit for operation for July 2025, which was taped over their outdated due date of April 2022!!!! Completely unsafe considering there are 9 floors in the building! Never staying here again.

In A Nutshell: -This Hyatt Place is adequate. -I don't agree that it's a 4 star hotel, but rather a 3 star. -The parking situation isn't good -I did not pay the $45 valet parking, but chose to find a parking garage. -If you don't need a car then it's a decwnt hotel since it's across the street from the VTA. -The room was big, but it's a standard hotel room. -The SJC airport is nearby so at night you will hear the planes fly overhead while landing. -I did enjoy the free buffet breakfast, which was awesome (eggs, toast, sausage/bacon which rotate days, apples/oranges/bananas, curry chickpeas, super hot coffee, cereals, yogurt & more). Overall, if they can improve the parking situation I would give it 4 stars. I would still stay here if needed.

Very large and conveniently located Hyatt Place in the heart of San Jose. Walking distance to all major attractions/restaurants/hockey arena. Parking garage across alley and easy to get in and out of, very large lobby bar area. A very comfortable and value driven Hyatt Place option in downtown

The Hyatt Place is an older property and the décor is a bit dated. That said, everything is well-maintained, and the staff are all great. The location is ideal: across the way from the McEnery Convention Center, and steps from the VTA light rail station. It's also close to several theaters and cultural venues. Points off for limited food service in-house. They do serve a basic free breakfast, but then there's really not much. Pub grub at the bar in the evening, and a grab & go kiosk. There are better options for table-service lunch or dinner nearby. On balance, this is a good place to stay if you appreciate a blend of moderate price, great location, and car-free access.

Hotel stays in the city I live in are rare, but I did it for my mom, for her comfort and convenience (and mine) since we were attending an event nearby. There's no valet parking even though it's listed on their website. Instead, they have a self-parking lot for hotel guests only, which costs $35 per day, but you have to check in first to use your room key for the parking. The room was great, sufficient, clean, had a mini fridge, temperature control, and lots of outlets. And the king room also had a sofabed/lounge area, which was comfy and convenient. Checking in was quick and easy. They have a lot of space, seating, and more in the lobby, including a dining area for free hot breakfast in the morning. Also, 12pm checkout... a big plus if you're not a morning person.

After 8 years our Union's Conference came back to San Jose and because of my excellent experience at this hotel I recommended this hotel to all of our delegates. We all were able to stay here and were very happy with their service. The first day was a little rough with everyone trying to check in but after that the rest of the week was exceptional. We highly recommend this hotel to anybody. The only drawback is it does not have a pool but the buffet breakfast for me more than makes up for it. Thank you Hyatt Place Downtown San Jose Staff it was a great stay.
