I've only had the rare treat of having some good menudo, aside from making it myself, and both times were at a bar and grill...go figure. The best part was it wasn't busy and we were in a hurry. On Saturdays most places are full. We actually had gone to another place but it was full so I looked up another restaurant and found Los Compadres. Yelp's reviews had it rated highly for the food. I was expecting to come in and order breakfast, but ended up with a bowl of menudo. Something told me it would hit the spot. I highly recommend if you like this dish. I have no complaints. Most places dont add hominy to their menudo, but his soup didn't need it. The homemade melt in your mouth corn tortillas were perfect for dipping into the rich red broth. The hefty pata was cooked to my liking, falling apart with chunks to eat or if you so choose, pick up the pieces and get everything. It's just a thing I grew up with eating so don't judge. You can order with or without the pigs feet. I know at first sip if I need to add anything, but not be chance. No need to add anything except what they give you as toppings...cilantro, onions, jalapeno and lime juice. My significant other had the usual. Super burrito with carne asada and it was flavorful. It was average sized. I also ordered a tostada with camaron to go because why not. I'll eat it later. Very good...and yes it's hidden way back in the corner of the shopping center. Look for the yellow sign hanging with red letters. Very nice staff as well. They turned the jukebox on as we were leaving around noon. I already told my son we'd come here when he has time.

Ok so the appearance of this place may make some want to turn around. We were traveling to San Jose, Ca from Fresno, CA for our sons football game. This place is close to Valley Christian High School. It was a group of 6 of us, when we got there they were setting up for a party. So some tables were closed, mind you there are 3 booths and 2 small tables open. They wouldn't let us sit at one of the larger tables because they were using it for the party. They explained the party started at 9, it was 2:30pm. So I must say the customer service experience was horrid, the waitress was setting up for the party, taking our orders & bringing us our food. Well we were all starving and this restaurant had 4.5 reviews on Yelp, so we waited it out. Once the food came, everyone was really really impressed. I ate the best Wet Chile Verde Burrito of my life!!! They have $1 Happy Hour Tacos. We had chicken, Asada and Shrimp - everything was delish. The margarita I had was just Ok. If I'm ever in the area again- I'd order ahead and get it to go!!!!

Visited this place for the first time today because it was highly recommended on Yelp. It was a little hard to find because the sign is only really visible right when you are in front of the restaurant, but it's right at the corner of the complex, across from a tamale shop. I couldn't decide what I wanted so I got an order of the nachos without meat and also the shrimp ceviche. The waitress wanted to make sure that I was fine with the nachos not having that liquid cheese on them and that I knew how the shrimp ceviche was served. My friends both ordered burritos and the waitress came by to verify that they wanted shredded not grilled chicken and make sure everything was as they wanted. Very thorough service and attention to detail. I'll definitely be back!

DON'T GET LOST LOOKING FOR THIS PLACE - DO THIS: Go to the Marina Grocery Store in the shopping center located on Monterey and Senter Rd. If you're heading north, don't pass Burger King or you'll have to go all the way around like we did. If you're heading south on Monterey, just turn left on Senter (before 7-11) and then into the Marina Grocery shopping center. Park in front of the grocery store or as close as you can to the corner of the center. You can see it once you're in that corner area. Easy to get lost and look for a while since it's hidden and there are LOTS of little businesses there. The place has a good ambience with what looks like a full bar. It's one big open space. There is also a small stage with a microphone which makes you think they have live entertainment. Mexican music was coming through the speakers which is what I prefer at this type of restaurant but it was so loud that we couldn't hear each other talk so we asked them to turn it down which they did. BUT....there was a cumbia dance lesson going on next door. We were at a booth right next to the wall which was very thin because you could hear the loud music coming from there and even someone who constantly kept yelling - "Whooot-Whooot!" I mean really, like every 30 seconds! Other than the annoyances, we really enjoyed the food! I had the molcajete and it was bubbling hot with a variety of meats like camarones, beef, chicken and chiles. The broth stayed bubbling for about 5 minutes - how'd they do that? It was very delicious and flavorful but one thing that I don't like is the imitation crab (you know that starchy pulverized fish?). There was quite a bit of that in there and I didn't know it would be part of the meal so I didn't eat it. But I know some people love it so oh well. It came with corn tortillas that were oh soooo wonderful! Homemade and tasty! My honey had the cheese enchiladas plate and we shared a camarones cocktail. That cocktail was amazing! I didn't try his enchiladas but he said they were great. And the complimentary homemade chips and salsa were really very good! I love the hot greasy chips and freshness of the salsa. Sometimes you just gotta calorie splurge on the good stuff! So we'll definitely be back for more but won't sit by that paper thin wall next to the dance studio!

I cant get enough of this place. My girlfriend and I took her Mother there for Mothers day and we fell in love. Raphael is down to earth, friendly, and his family makes some fantastic authentic food. My favorite is the Al Pastor burrito Mojado and the Caldo de Camarones. I work right down the street, so this has become my go to spot for the last few months. You NEED to check this spot out, its tucked in a corner of the shopping center, and its a hidden gem! You wont be disappointed!

Place is hard to find, but it's in there! Hope you speak Spanish and are okay with eating cheap delicious food. Guacamole is interesting, a bit more runny in consistency than I'm used to, but flavor is great! Had camarones al Diablo and they were spicy and good!

We chose the location from their previous yelp stars, but that wasn't our experience. The service was prompt. However, I've never had Mexican food like this before, and i eat it at least 5 - 6 times a week. The guacamole was avocado, salt, and pepper - no onion, tomato or anything else - super boring and small. Portions were childlike. Disappointing
